Best of the Blogs
Posted by: Chris Regal at 2:59 PM
Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend.  Here are the best blogs from the weekend:

Vansword reflects on the Declaration of Independence and recommends that our President take it to heart.

Do Obama's actions mirror those of monarchs of the past?

Whozis makes a strong case against public schools, specifically blaming the National Education Association for the fall of our system.

Is supporting Obama a necessity for taking part in the "black experience?"  Can African-Americans both be "black" and be critical of the President?

Big weekend for the Twitter - for those that do not already, be sure to follow us!

Town Hall
"Do Obama's actions mirror those of monarchs of the past?"

It doesn't surprise me to see this baloney on the internet because the internet is full of baloney.

It does surprise me to see a supposedly legitimate site like Town Hall touting it as one of the "best of the blogs."

The "worst of the blogs" must REALLY be silly.

Something for Michelle to do
Isn't Michelle Obama looking for something to "do" as 1st Lady? Here are some suggestions for her:

* Start a program to study and mitigate the causes of 1) out-of-wedlock births, 2)high-school dropout rates, or 3) gang violence in the black population. ** Bonus points for reducing black-on-black violence in Chicago!!

*Educate black youths on the detrimental effects rap/hip-hop culture has on the black community.

*Blacks have a disproportionately high rate of abortions. Planned Parenthood is especially happy to oblige young black women who want to abort their babies. Michelle could help these women see themselves as valuable and important, and cease taking their self-worth cues from men who only use them for sex. She could help stop a kind of "soft genocide" from being perpetuated.

Whatever she chooses to do, IF she were to choose to do something difficult but meaningful, she should do it without blaming "whitey".

Talking down to blacks
How come white people were never asked that question, "Can caucasians both be "white" and be critical of former president's?

Last week I met an ordinary women, an African-American who is none to pleased with President Obama. He spends too much is the common complaint.

Furthermore, asking the question is basically talking down to blacks. It's as if "blacks" travel in packs therefore engage in group think.

The black experience
One wonders when black leaders nationally will ask some questions about the 'black experience'? 1. What to do with black sports heroes who seemingly end up with fiscal, family, drug, DUI, gun, crime and even death problems? How to counsel them to be responsible with the potentials they have economically and with family et al. 2. What to do about the 70% out of wedlock births in the black community? 3. What to do with the huge crime rate in black communities with blacks abusing other blacks? 4. How to keep blacks in the capitalistic system without having them become dependent on one political socialist party? Instead of going socialist, instead of wailing about bias, blacks have had greater opportunities in the last 40 years but so called black leaders have failed them. This is a huge cultural problem for our American black citizens. And after some 70 yrs. of voting for Dems, it seems that that Party has done very little dealing with the 4 problems I listed above.
