We Win, They Lose

Recently, I've written about the need to use new online strategies to mobilize against the Democrat-controlled Congress. Today, I've launched WeWinTheyLose.com, a place where conservatives can sign up to keep the pressure on elected officials to stand by our troops and stand for victory in Iraq. This effort is named for Ronald Reagan's simple recipe for defeating Soviet tyranny: "We win, they lose." The "We Win, They Lose" coalition includes Glenn Reynolds, leading bloggers at Red State, Rob Bluey, Lorie Byrd, John Hawkins, and other blog luminaries. The site has been up less than an hour, and support is coming in strong. Our first action is a petition against Congress's reckless actions on the Iraq funding bill. But this isn't just any petition. Bloggers will receive credit for the signatures they refer, and can boost this effort by embedding the petition directly on their blog. You can sign right here.

Will you be updating the petition, since the veto has been sustained? |

A proud chicken hawk, but I'm not sure that counts as I have relatives serving our preservation in that theater of the War On Terror, but you decide. |

Now that many will sign this petition; I hope the first two go to San Fran Nan and Harry the Hat. Of course, the left will cringe and wail and stomp its little nasty feet but so what? They do that every time America actually stands up for itself in any military action. Except Kosovo , of course , where our national security and useage of troops ,materiale and heavy weapons were not to be used. So invested in defeat is the Left, that it would be nice for some pols to speak of victory over Islamofascism even if it takes a generation. |

Containment works when the enemy is rational and does not want to risk war. Containment also works with large forces that can be easily detected. Our enemy today cannot be contained easily as it only takes a few dozen to infiltrate and kill hundreds if not thousands. Our enemy today seeks war and does not grow tired or bored with it as we do. When we leave Iraq, they will follow and the blood will be on the Defeatacrats hands. The quickest way to end the war in Iraq is to show resolve and increase the pressure - they are clinging to hope, hope generously provided by Reid and Pelosi. If we all were together on this and our common goal was to eliminate Al Qaeda everywhere, including Iraq, we could win within 18 months to two years followed by a generations worth of rebuilding. I was stationed in Germany a full 30 years after WWII, why do we think it will be any different in this WW? |

Finally a blog entry to take action. Much needed. Thanks! |

I meant..where were you Patrick Ruffini.. |

the chickenhawks here can explain why Bush back in 1999 argued for timetables and exit strategies in our military efforts, but now its surrender..where were you Matt Lewis back then..I am sure you said then Gov. Bush was absolutely correct..
Whats the difference ..
And will the old Victory Caucus go away now that the President did not use the word victory even once and now apparently victory which at one time pre-2004 election the president and VP argued was total elimination of the enemy, now means just reduced violence..like in any of our average cities..Huh? wait a few weeks..and the new definition will be anything less than 500 deaths a day - thats success! |

I'd rather go with your own man, Rudy Guliani, and his general strategy for fighting the War on Terror - use a Cold War-esque strategy of containment. Ronald Reagan presided over the defeat of the Soviet Union, but its strength was weakened by only by years of containment and final isolation. Similarly, we fight Islamic terrorism by making it irrelevant and pathetic in the shadow of the West.
As for Iraq, one can only hope we can salvage something out of what I still think is an irrevocable mess. We're merely running in place - "progress" is measured by pointing out one province's decline in violence while ignoring another province's flare-up in violence.
As such, I'm not sure deadlines are such a bad idea, considering our holding-pattern situation in Iraq. Fears that it would "signal defeat" to al-Qeada is unwarranted, since al-Qeada in Iraq is about as hated in Sunni regions as it is in Shi'a regions.
Glad to hear from you again on this site, Patrick.

The lack of a counter is a feature, not a bug. After the failure of their other mighty petition earlier this year, why would Hugh and his merry men want people to know how weak they are? |
|
Hey, Patrick -
Would you put a counter on the website so we know how many and how fast the signatures are coming in?
Thanks. |
