Steele Makes Lead on 5th Ballot
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 3:31 PM
Steele 79
Dawson 69
Anuzis 20

Steele is now only 6 ballots away from becoming RNC Chair.

Anuzis has conceded and it likely most of his votes will go to Steele.

Get a grip. We don't look at the skin color we look at the principles. If Michael Steele had been the candidate for President I would have voted for him no questions asked. I didn't vote for President Obama because I didn't agree with him on any level. It had NOTHING to do with his skin color...you keep on bringing it up -- I think you are more worried about it than me...

Meanwhile on the left the two leaders are Barack Obama, a black community organizer, and Robert Byrd, a former KKK leader. The left's curious history with race relations continues.

Don't the Dems call Robert Byrd the conscience of their party???? That says all you need to know about them.

Bad week for Democrats. First, their corrupt soul is put on full public display in the Blagojevich impeachment, including details of shaking down a children's hospital. Then the bailout bill starts taking hits. Now Michael Steele gets elected RNC Chairman.

Another 4 years wasted
This guy couldnt even win an election himself and he's going to get us more elected Republicans? I doubt it. Its a shame Dawson lost to a RINO. Steele was once a freaking demoRAT!

Good news for Republicans
I just heard that Steele won in the last ballot. It appears that maybe Republicans are beginning to hear the clarion call. I watched the debate on C-SPAN and Steele was indeed the most energetic, charismatic, and forward thinking man on that panel.

As a committed liberal, this makes me nervous.

proven wrong
well I thought the social cons would do everything they could to sabotage Steele but it looks like Anuzis's moderates defected to the right guy.

I am very happy to have been proven worng on this one.

Yes; it is a historic Day-The RNC has its first blackchairman. Looks Obama has paved the way for change.

moderates win!
see? there is hope!

Steele wins
Steele won on the 6th ballot with 91 votes.
Geoffrey writes: Friday, January, 30, 2009 4:04 PM
oh please, "Allen C"
Steele will do a great job. With TheBama imploding in real time as people *finally* wise up, and Steele as RNC chair, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Allen Caeden writes: Friday, January, 30, 2009 3:47 PM
As much as I hate it.
Unless Anuzis braeks for Dawson Michael Steele is most likely to win. Well the GOP will have a guy that has been a failure in all his other jobs running the GOP. This is not a good sign for the future of the GOP. But at least the GOP can say they have a black man as chairman which is his only asset.

Anuzis drops
and does not endorse.

hmmmmmmmm....

Anuzis
DROPS
Frank writes: Friday, January, 30, 2009 3:38 PM
Anuzis Kingmaker?
He's a moderate as well with ties to the unions so my guess is Steele is going to pull this one off.

First Black RNC chair? Historic?
