Talk About the Politics of Fear

Moveon.Org (they of the "General Betray Us" debacle) are running a new ad that this AP account describes as follows:
In the ad, an actress with an infant child speaks as if she were addressing McCain, the likely Republican presidential nominee.
"Hi John McCain," she says. "This is Alex. And he's my first. So far his talents include trying any new food and chasing after our dog. That, and making my heart pound every time I look at him. And so, John McCain, when you say you would stay in Iraq for 100 years, were you counting on Alex? Because if you were, you can't have him."
What a truly disgusting, craven commercial.
First, of course, we have a volunteer army. So no one is going to "have" Alex, at any age, without his consent. Second, McCain said staying in Iraq for 100 years was fine, as the linked YouTube video makes clear, only "as long as Americans aren't being injured or harmed or wounded or killed."
Finally, of course, no mother wants to think of her son (or daughter) going off to war. But has it occurred to Alex's mommy that -- if other mothers had adopted her "not my baby" attitude -- little Alex might be in much more jeopardy from terrorist attacks right here in the United States of America? Or for that matter, he might be speaking German . . . or even be an English subject?
Too pathetic for words.

Maybe I've missed it, but when will there be a blog topic on the Bush-McCain intent to build 50 permanent military bases in Iraq, with the U.S. allowed to make whatever strikes it deems necessary whenever it wants, regardless of the will of the Iraqi people?
That's the real question here, folks, illustrated by an ad that symbolizes what's really going on: Our military domination of a land we invaded and helped create a civil war in, beholden to us for their security forevermore.
Occupied nations don't take kindly to imperialistic dreams of their conquerers. |

Actually I though the commerical was great. The Army can hardly keep enough men now. A war that continues for one hundred year will never be able to get enough men to volunteer for that long. A draft is always the way the US and other countries have been able to support a long term war. How long will people continue to volunteer for a war that no one wants or believes in. How many soldiers have have to go back for 3,4 or even five tours in the Middle East? Sooner or later there will be a draft if the US stays in this war. |
|
First it was Charlie Rangel [D] who wants to have a draft to shanghai Alex into being a conscripted cog.
And McCain's 100 year quote is again taken out of context since he was talking about something akin to our military posts in Europe and South Korea.

Little wars prevent world wars. Maybe the disgracefully dishonest liberals at the DNC and MoveOn.Org should learn that the best defense is a good offense. Oh, and before anyone screams chickenhawk or any other idiotic name at me for advocating a belligerent response to terrorism and its state sponsors, I'll just note that I am a veteran and yes, I'll keep speaking out about the war on terror. Will all liberals and MoveOn types who never wore a uniform shut up and refuse to vote now? It's the same idiotic argument they make about proponents of war as the response to state-run terrorism. Any American may express an opinion on the wars this country fights, but it seems only the Left feels free to try to muzzle anyone who objects to surrender or treating terrorism as a crime. Psst, the police show up AFTER the crime has been committed. I'd rather have those plotting to nuke our cities running scared in their little rat-holes overseas. |

Is that flip flop anythng like Ovomit not being a racist as he prevented two women in Hijabs from sitting behind him at a rally? Hypocrit. |

Reading history is great. Maybe you should read your current events. http://www.mnf-iraq.com/index.php?option=com_content&task= view&id=20152&Itemid=128
Now say you are a conspiracy theorist and don't believe Crocker. Okay, here is a quote from a McClatchy article:
Hoshyar Zebari, the Iraqi foreign minister, criticized the lawmakers for poisoning the public discussion before an agreement is concluded. He said U.S. officials had been flexible in the talks, as well as "frank and honest since the beginning." That is from a story about the 58 bases. The Iraqi government is having a say in whether or not it happens or not. Sounds very conspiratorial.... doesn't it? Do conspiracy theorists use logic? How impossible would it be to keep a lid on something like this?

Massive coordinated Media groups always hyde things like... the self-renamed "the choosen one"HNobama NOW PUBLICLY DENIES STOP THE EMBARGO WICH PROTECTS AND CHECK castroland'$oFla$tate to GET... what?, candies?, a bloom of hotwemen?, ahh!!!! castrosystems or chavez's, maybe thru "Panamanianprd"'s, anabelenmontes's system ($pecially $ofla), well, the answer: the embargo prevents castroland to get (((((((((U$$CREDI$4$Y$TEM$IN$ITU$A)))))))))))) and the $i$tem'$ Media hiddes barryhusseiNobama's innercircle, secondary and 3rd plenty of enemy, in times of war, and publicly megaflipflooping while anounces an "unilateral unconditional self-desarment of America under... ayatolas, hispano-dictators terrorists too, anabelenmontes their logistic "under American lines"... skerry, isn't it?... in fact, skerry, john's partners used conservative democrats for mayority minority on terror because of GOPconservatives where evolving back to God at schools oriented instead of sexhiprap like alfred, the german "what's wrong on wearing a nazi pin?", sounds like Cuban "what's wrong on dealing with castroland?" roberto, a pastor almeida's son's gang, another dadehiphopstudio torturechaimber insitu houses&rentrooms (specialy with anti-terrorists), now barryhusseiNobama grew O N L Y 1% "since hillary"... now along to Mcain come independents conservatives or central or even left not related with terror the mayority minority on terror still rule paralegal attacks insitu&against USA, but anyway, on 2004: Bush relected for saying to continue the wr on Irak, before source (record voting and skerry saying the same thing on war on terror" |

Apparently, Alex's dad isn't in the picture, which isn't surprising because we seem to be useful only for our reproductive material.
Anyway, Alex will start figuring out his mom is a psycho by age 10, when his mommy finally agrees to stop breast feeding him but refuses to let him play football.
When it's legally possible--age 14 or age 16--Alex will bring an action to declare him an emancipated minor and immediately enter therapy. Happily, Alex will thrive and eventually receive an appointment to one of the service academies. He'll ultimately have his mom committed. |

Rip's Flagon,
I'm very skeptical of the diplomats' public statements on permanent bases. Why is Iraqi public opinion important now when it clearly wasn't before we invaded? As in any fractious society it's in the interest of one or two factions to rely on Uncle Sam. Just ask the old South Vietnamese government, Ferdinand Marcos or the apartheid regime in South Africa during the Reagan Administration. |

jmmwhat, you can't understand a dammed, you yourself are a terror logistic, a "sleeper" "on activation stage". In times of war, the enemy logistic (like the "what war on terror?" pre911 minds) lighted, blinded by the lightwar on Iraq, next to Iran swearing to vaporize anybody, the best stop to ayatolas) they'll not pass anti-war on Iraq filter, on terror. That's why Jesus talked in parabols. Parabolic message are one of ancient celestial asimetric war wisdoms... as The Master said: all this you understand, my people, is hidden and denied to the scorpions, snakes, pigs and woulves. The more they listen, the less they hear... the more they hear, the more... they ignore...
