BHO a great writer, huh???? There's scientific evidence his first book was ghost-written and that Bill Ayers was highly influencing (like, most of the words written by him). And if his inaguration speech doesn't convince you of the lack of writing skill (since he was said to write it himself), it was a bunch of jumbled up gobblygook, with nearly all commentators saying it wasn't "memorable". But maybe Chris liked it!!??

As a grandmother of 3 myself I was not at all offended by Mr. Matthews' comment to Mrs. Palin. Instead, I was much impressed by the way that he seemed to relate to Mrs. Palin from his own perspective as the father of a disabled child. Did you completely miss the way he struggled to maintain control of his emotions, Ms. Carpenter?
Furthermore, my take on the interview was that he is very pro-Palin. As a journalist, he is obligated to report on the numbers that are being bandied about for her book deal. Are they perhaps out of line? Probably... but I will tell you right now that if a book written by Mrs. Palin does come out I will buy it- if only to send a message to Washington that the pro-life movement is still alive & kicking.
My only regret is that there does not seem to be ANY sort of reporting taking place these days that does not actively display the reporter's personal bias... or that of the media that the reporter works for. IOW, there is no fair & balanced reporting any more. What has happened to our press that they have become so enamored of sensationalism & have forgotten their role as the watchdogs of our society? The bias of the press is fueling the divisiveness that we see in politics today. It is a divisiveness that extends far beyond political ideology & hampers any sort of meaningful dialog & cooperation between the two parties that dominate American politics today. Shame on the press for forgetting their role & shame on us for being so easily lead & duped by our new idols.

Both these men are opinion-commentators, about the news. Neither are news reporters. It's just that Chris Matthews' opinion is idiotic, and Glenn Beck's is emotional, but more common sense.
BTW: There are a number of politicians who can write books besides BHO: Zell Miller - D-GA comes to mind. He's written 2 or even 3 books himself; Rick Santorum of PA also wrote a book or two; and even Hillary Clinton as well (well, maybe that one was ghost-written).
Also, I am a proud member of Teamsarah.org and believe that she is the new face of a new feminine, conservative politician that we have NEVER seen before -- pro-life, pro-family, female that's HAPPY and comfortable in her own skin. This is why the Left wants to destroy her early: They are afraid of her, because she represents the strong, happy wife and mother who is also a successful Executive in her state.
Also, there's NO TRUTH to the rumor that she's shopping for a book deal, or asking $11M for it. This is ANOTHER rumor started by angry Leftists and passed around the internet as truth.

If he had made the remarks about a black politician the racism accusations would have spewed forth. Besides all that, it was an idiotic remark. "If she can read, if she can write". She is a college graduate and a governor and if you ever actually listen to what she says, she says some very intelligent things from time to time. I think most of you are missing the real story here. I am a Sarah Palin fan and I check the online news every day to see what the media is saying about Sarah Palin. About every three days the media is attacking Sarah Palin on something and this means that she is continually in the news. In short she is the second most mentioned polically leader in the news. Sarah Palin is beaten by only Barry Obama. However, everyone should be asking why is the media so obsesed with attacking Sarah Palin? We do not see other Republican leaders being attacked like this? Is Bobby Jindal, Tim Pawlenty, or Mark Sanford being attacked? Is Mike Huckabee being attacked? All of these men are potential candidates for 2012? Sarah Palin is being attacked because she is a direct threat to the Democratic Party. I have read numerous biographies on Sarah Palin and this woman's political killing skills are off the charts. In Alaska both the Democrats and the Republicans have stated repeatedly not to underestimate Sarah Palin's political and campaigning skills. She has taken on every major political figure in Alaska and has won in the end. The liberal media knows this and they also see how popular she is with the Republican Base which will nominate a candidate for 2012 and they know that Sarah Palin right now is the most admired and most talked about Republican on the planet right now. The liberal media is going to do everything to destroy this woman before 2012, because the last thing they want is another Ronald Reagan or in Palin's case a Margret Thatcher style conservative in the White House. Let reality "rear its head" here for a minute. While it can be dangerous to speak in sweeping generalities, not in this case: Liberals, leftists, and Democrats absolutely do NOT fear or hate Sarah Palin. They may not respect her, but then again, the cons don't respect Obama. Does this mean that cons hate the President? (Based on some of the whacked comments at this site, I'm sure many here do hate and fear Obama, but normal, grounded conservatives and Repubs don't.)
Sarah Palin made a very bad second impression on the voters. Her first impression was OK, but the second post-announcement roll out was so disastrous, it wiped out the first. I've always felt that second impressions are far more important than first. If you blow the second impression, it makes you question your initial judgment and also causes you to question everything from then on.
And can we dispense with the notion that "leftists" hate her because of her beautiful baby? That is really unfair. I know a lot of liberals (and conservatives) and not one has had anything other than admiration for Palin for keeping that sweet baby. |
