John McCain: A Series of Fortunate Events ...
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 8:08 PM

Despite the fact that the media narrative says it's a Democratic year, I think things are looking pretty good for John McCain right now.

For one thing, the McCain campaign has gotten a head-start on defining the likely opponent, Barack Obama.

Meanwhile, Obama has his hands-full fending-off Hillary Clinton's charges of plagiarism, as well as dealing with the three ways the Clintons might steal this election ...
1. Breaking DNC rules by seating Michigan and Florida delegates,

2. Having "Super Delegates" overrule the will of the people, or

3.  Even poaching Obama's pledged delegates...
If Hillary's devious attempts work, she will have destroyed her base, and I don't think she could win a General Election.  But even if Obama survives, he will have wasted a lot of time and resources.  And it is entirely possible that in winning such a nasty primary fight, his reputation would be would be hurt among independents.

And the icing on the cake is that, though McCain gets to start acting like the nominee, Huckabee keeps things interesting on nights like tonight, when 100 percent of the attention would otherwise focus on the Democrats ...

Lastly, it seems like most conservatives are on-board -- or, at least -- it seems that the vocal criticism of him has subsided.

(It took a bizarre set of circumstances and "luck" for McCain to get to where he is.  Could it be that he will continue to enjoy a series of fortunate events?)

He's still got a long way to go, but I think he has (so far) successfully made the transition from insurgent to likely nominee, without losing his mojo.

In terms of his chances in a General Election, at this early stage, McCain seems to be in much better shape, at this point, than most people would have thought.

Join the Tea Party...dump McCain! #2
4. Taxes
McCain - First he was against the Bush tax cuts, then he was for them
Did not sign Americans For Tax Reform "no new taxes" pledge
Huckabee - Signed AFTR "no new taxes" pledge
End the IRS, replace it with the Fair Tax
No more tax returns! No more Social Security tax! No more Medicaid tax!
Championed 1st broad-based tax cut in over 100 yrs, over a Democratic entitlement-minded Arkansas legislature

5. Abortion
McCain - Endorsed by Republicans for Choice
Huckabee - Will only nominate pro-life federal judges to overturn the Roe v Wade holocaust
Attended pro-life marches & rallies since before being governor
Will vigorously promote Human Life Amendment

6. Same-sex marriage/Gay rights
McCain - 1 of only 7 RINOS to vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment
Endorsed by Log Cabin (homosexual) Republicans
Huckabee - Got a constitutional marriage amendment passed in Arkansas
Will vigorously promote Federal Marriage Amendment
(This will also help judicial reform, by freeing the legal system from these issues)

7. Supreme Court/Judicial appointments
McCain - Alito too conservative - "wears his conservatism on his sleeve"
Huckabee - supports ALL strict constructionist justices, including Alito

8. Who wants him? Follow the money
McCain - Liberals George Soros, that's right, the MoveOn.org guy, and Teresa Heinz Kerry (Sen. John's wife)
Huckabee - The grassroots - he's done more, with less than even Ron Paul! :)

Calling all conservative Republicans - Romney supporters - FredHeads - Paul supporters -
tell McCain and the Republican National Committee no!
We will not "vote" for your king!
No taxation without representation of your conservative base!

Vote Huckabee in your state's primary! Early voting is now underway in Texas.

20 minutes at mikehuckabee.com will make you a believer.

(Kudos to Brett, who posted:
"Stop McCain - Vote for Huckabee now.
If you Conservatives really care about the USA, you only have ONE choice left: Huckabee.
Any other vote now ALLOWS McCain to win.")

Even if you don't totally like Huck, but can't stand McCain, send a message that our votes will not be taken for granted.

The issues:

1. National sovereignty
McCain - Open borders
McCain/Kennedy(/Bush) amnesty bill
Says "secure the border" but doesn't mention a fence!
Says governors will "certify" border security. Inept doofuses like Perry & Schwarzenegger? Is he kidding?
Campaign advisor Juan Hernandez - "Mexico First" - former advisor to Pres Vicente Fox - dual citizen
Huckabee - Signed NumbersUSA no-amnesty pledge
Will immediately finish the southern fence (real double-layer fence)
Wants a Canadian fence too
Endorsed by border-hawk ex-candidate Representative Duncan Hunter and Minutemen cofounder Jim Gilchrist

2. Foreign policy
McCain - Member of Council on Foreign Relations (independent of United States!)
Huckabee - Not a CFR member
(that one was simple)

3. Energy independence
McCain - See Foreign policy, above
Against safe drilling in Alaska Nat'l Wildlife Refuge
Huckabee - Supports ANWR drilling
Has a plan for energy independence in 10 years, when we can tell the Saudis: We need your oil about as much as we need your sand

McShamnesty was,is, and will be awful
The man can rot in hell for all I care. He is not a good Republican, not a conservative, and not a great American. In fact, he a Vichy American, a traitor to his country...period. He is a liar, a crook, and a disgrace in every way. A man who not only fails to defend his country, but wants to establish a law that rewards the law breakers, the drug pushers, the murderers, and the terrorists that cross our borders. To quote General Patton, “Better the Germans in front of us than the French behind us.” I say the same to the McFreak, “Better the communists in front of us than McAmnesty behind us.” Never McStain...ever!
