Bill Richardson Endorses Obama: The Obamaphenom Returns

Yesterday Tom Daschle was throwing bricks at Hillary in a debate with James Carville on CNN.
Today Bill Richardson endorses Obama.
That's gotta sting. Richardson would be nothing and no one without Bill Clinton, but the New Mexico governor has done the math and seems to have concluded that it would be disastrous for the Dems to throw Obama overboard after his string of huge wins and the expectations they have raised among African Americans and young voters. The Clintons must be furious. The superdelegates who throw in with Obama publicly have to think of themselves as political equivalents of Brutus and Cassius --they are striking at the king and queen, and even if they succeed, they can expect the remaining Caesarians to pursue them for a very long time. The nastiness within the Dems is going to continue for many years to come as the Clintonistas are not a forgiving lot. ("These many, then, shall die; their names are pricked.")
Politico's Mike Allen noted on yesterday's program that the Beltway wisdom is that Hillary has a less than 10% chance of pulling the nomination out of a hat. With Richardson's announcement as a signal of superdelegate thinking, that long shot becomes even longer.
It is hard to imagine anyone but Obama being the nominee unless he pulls himself out of the race. Obama absorbed the big Jeremiah Wright hit, regrouped and regained his stride within a week. Now he will rise steadily in the states where Hillary leads him, and he doesn't even need to win, just not collapse.
If Clinton Inc has any dirty trick left in the vast vault marked "the politics of personal destruction," it will have to drop soon, and perhaps today before the Obamaphenom has fully recovered its momentum.

you are a superdelegate and Hillary has now won Pennsylvania by double digits and North Carolina by a hair. Obama still leads in the delegate count, but Hillary leads in the electoral count (i.e. Obama's states do not have as many electoral votes in the fall as Hillary's.) In the fall, the Democratic candidate must pick up at least one red state, while holding on to every blue state in order to win? How does Obama match up with McCain in Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, Michigan? That may be the coming dilemma. |

Hillary’s problems have not been brought about by the “vast right wing conspiracy”, but by her own party’s insider conspirators.
Somewhere in one of the Godfather movies, Vito Coralone voices an old Italian, or Mafia, credo “keep your friends close and your enemies closer”. I guess Hillary never watched the Godfather movies. While she was watching out for the “vast right wing conspiracy” a “vast left wing conspiracy” was planning her downfall and it looks like Bill Richardson has joined in.

WELCOME! I join Paddy in urging you to continue to share your insights here.
I've got a fair number of old friends back in L.A. who are of the same persuasion. Mostly Native Chicano, they work hard, raise their kids right, are vocally against the illegal tidal wave, proud of their country and regularly vote Republican.
Glad you are here! |
|
I hope you continue to post....you will fit in very well here....
Happy Easter to you. |

My entire family (husband, three grown up kids and their spouses, sister and husband) are registered Republicans.
Why? Because we have never used entitlements but work very hard, pay taxes, and have assumed complete responsibility when it comes to raising our children.
Because we don't like to be pandered by stereotypes. Because we don't believe in father government bailing everybody who refuses to be self-responsible, and self-reliant.
The list goes on and on.... |

Very well said. That leads me to wonder who IS getting your support.... |

There’s no understanding of the Latino vote when it comes to the mainstream media. Overwhelmingly in favor of Sen. Obama, it is assumed that by partnering with Gov. Richardson, the Latino vote will turn in his favor.
Wrong. First, out of the estimated 44 million Latinos in the US, an estimated 20 million are illegals, and therefore, not allowed to vote. According to the Pew Center for Hispanic Research, a mere 17 million are legal citizens, and therefore, registered voters. The rest are either minors or legal residents, who are not entitled to cast a vote.
Second, the Latino vote is as diverse as the composition of it. Not all Mexican-Americans will vote for Obama even if Richards is his running mate. The Cuban and most of the Central American vote will go to John McCain.
Third, Obama will be pestered till the elections because of his close relationship with racists like Wright, and others. This will not go away since he chose to put the blame on everbody, their neighbors and their dogs, but the culprits. Nobody stays in a church spewing hate for 20 years if they are not part of it.
As more revelations on this respect come to light, his skillful oratory will be less effective. After all, his slogan of leadership, unity, hope and all the other beautiful words he uses to address his campaign events are starting to sound hollow in view of his deeds. Also, his social progessive agenda and political leanings will be subject to a closer scrutiny, even though the mainstream media will try to ignore it and divert it.
His race speech was rethorically beautiful but raised more questions about his character and judgement than answers.

Nah, Obama is just going to be hit with more stuff as soon as Chris Matthews and Keith the Hater stop feeling those thrills climbing up their legs. Now is the time for McCain and the Pubs to hit Obama on the ISSUES. Yes, the issues. The Empty Suit is just a socialist pacifist. Hit him hard there now. Who knows? Maybe Clinton will steal the nomination and real chaos will really begin. |

for steriods. He was a major league basball player, you know. Obama does not need any more controversies right now. |

Too shall they reapeth.
Like a Rat from a wounded ship! Or, as my Sicilian wife likes to say of the Clintons: 'Time wounds all heels.'
Anyone familiar with Clintonian behavior & power suction--and, certainly, Insider Bill Richardson does--knows that they'd throw ANYONE NECESSARY overboard in a nano-second & sleep soundly. And, they got what they paid for with Richardson. He owes his miserable life to their largess--Bubba even flew to NM to watch the Super Bowl with him. Remember the pics?!--and he just tossed his feeders under the Bus! GAWD, what a great week!! |

Obama tapes surface before too long.
Right Hillary.
There are over 4 million people registered as Dems in PA.
If they all come out and she gets 15%, which is a real possibility (could be higher)...that's 600,000 votes.
This ain't over! |

"typical white person" comment last night. Now he's implying all white people are as bad as his granny who is as bad as his pastor. |

I looked in the bathroom mirror this morning when I got up and there was a typical white person looking back at me. I nearly jumped out of my skin! I had n no idea until this morning of my true nature. |
