Keep It Classy, Washington
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 8:43 AM
Cringe-inducing, but it has to be pointed out. President Bush booed while tossing the first pitch at the new Nationals Stadium. Pretty trashy on the fans' part, here, although there are cheers mixed in, too:

Reality sets in....again.
This is the real response real Americans have to this president when he is not able to control the make up of the crowd down to the last person.

This is not fake troops cheers that were ordered by superiors. This is not a room full of sheeple right wing hacks performing for the camera. This represents the sentiment of real Americans just like the boos for Cheney last year.

If we tried to be classy in the 19th century, America would not exist. Instead we were honest with ourselves and called a spade a spade.

In person...
I was at the game and it sounded much more like 50/50 than it came off on ESPN. There were also a decnt number of protesters outside the park entrance with BOO BUSH signs. As I was walking into the game, some guy yells out I LOVE BUSH and was literally swarmed by the protesters. Ridiculous.

Not Knowing Doesn't Stop You
Antillectual writes about "fake troops cheers". I know the military, I know military families. President Bush is adored and respected by, and is at his most comfortable around, an overwhelming majority of the military. There are no "forced" cheers, by generals or others.

is it me?
Whatever happened to respecting the position regardles of what you feel or think about the person?...Is it me or am I living in the wrong century?
Antillectual writes: Monday, March, 31, 2008 11:48 AM
It is the position
that should be resected if the person occupying it honors it.

The troops adore Bush? Who are you kidding, Ed?

Are you talking about the troops on their 3rd 15 month deployment? Perhaps you mean the PTSD victims who were denied military benefits because Bush claimed they had pre-existing personality disorders. Maybe you are referring to the thousands of needlessly maimed former troops that would not be maimed had they been provided the appropriate equipment. Perhaps you are referring to the stop-loss victims sent back for more fun. Maybe you are referring to the troops forced to train private contractors to do the same job for 5 times the salary while they get placed on guard duty.

Odds are you are only referring to the "yes men" that comprise the bottom of the bucket in what's left after the competent generals retired or were fired.

The troops adore Bush? LMAO
Please, Mr Rove.

I Love President Bush
I love President Bush!

Yeah, I said it!

(sigh.) I will miss him...

Sad state of affairs
when our President is booed and a minister who preaches hate is applauded.

We have come a long way, America, but it appears we took the wrong fork in the road.

Our President deserves our respect.

As a nation we can bash him all we want, and that is due to the brave troops who have paved the way and continue to do so.

You can try to deny it, but just remember it when your freedoms are gone because you were to selfish and childish.
Buckeyemike writes: Monday, March, 31, 2008 11:44 PM
Yes he was booed, but . . .
I actually hear more cheers than boos. It's at least 50/50. And it's DC. Should we be surprised?

KJM writes:
"Our President deserves our respect."

But will you be saying this when Hillary takes the oath? Were you saying this when Bill Clinton was in office?

Your sentence is absolutely ridiculous. This isn't 1940's Germany, my friend. The president is a public servant and if the public doesn't like his service or believes he has no RESPECT for THEM, he should be more than just booed, he should be impeached.

And no, as much as it blows your mind, I am NOT a liberal, democrat or otherwise. I am about as conservative as they come and I would probably spit on Bush if it wouldn't get me killed. I would've done the same to Clinton, if you are interested.

I am Ashamed
It makes me sick to see that our people have such bad manners in this country.

I can remember when people were more respectful of the offices that people held if nothing else. We degrade our own government and ourselves, in front of the entire world, when we bad mouth our president.

We can disagree and we can verbalize that, but, to show bad manners towards Bush who is still our President, who is holding the highest office in our land, is disgusting.

We complain about how the politicians treat us average American's like mindless rabble that need a full time nanny to watch over us. Well what do you expect; with the behavior that was displayed at the baseball game we have shown they are right. No wonder we are being overridden in the decision making processes of our country and not given a vote, when we show behavior like a uneducated, unmannered human being.

My opinion for what it is worth is this: When Hillary and Bill hit the Washington, their disgraceful behavior in the White House, caused people to disrespect the office of the President.

As I watch Hillary on the campaign trail I am convinced even more that, we do not want another 4-8 years of Clintons and their elitist, disrespectful, deceitful, and polarizing, behavior towards others being the example that all of our people see on a daily basis, as the highest standard for our country.

We need to get back to sanity to good manners and respect for one another. We need to get away from the mob mentality that has ruled for the last 16 years.

At least McCain, and Obama seem to know how to be respectful and honoring towards others, even when they disagree with them.

But will you hold this same opinion when a democrat takes office in 2009? Will these blogs be filled with respectful comments towards our new socialist president?

Bullshute...

I will guarantee, swear on my life, may you cut me down in my youth... your disrespect will fill these pages EVERY single day. And though I am certain they will deserve it, you are a hypocrite for pretending you won't.

Last I checked, Hillary and Obama are U.S. Senators. Do THEY not deserve respect since they are elected politicians? Do THEY get that respect here?

Utter bullshute. At least I am honest about it.

Respect is EARNED. Reagan was respected because he EARNED it. Look at how these people talk about former democrat presidents and tell me again that you are being honest. BDS on the left will be replaced by CDS on the right next year.

None of these people are worth the dirt they stand on.
