Laura Bush Vents About Obama
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 9:48 AM
First Lady Laura Bush said it bothered her the way Barack Obama criticized her husband through the presidential election in a sit-down interview with CNN's Larry King.

"He was critical of you, did you take that personally?" King asked President Bush.

The President said "no" but the First Lady interjected, "I did."

"Were you angry about it?" King asked.

"Yeah, sort of. George didn't even really know about it because he didn't watch it that much, I don't think."

There are a couple reasons for that. I really don't know what you mean when you say liberalism. It's not a term that has clear cut meaning like conservatism does.

Give me some examples.

While you're right about greed and envy, you are also still lacking any clarity when it comes to liberalsim playing it's own role.

Greed and envy are two big things that come to mind. It's a very complex question though, much too large to ever be attributed to any one thing.

Sorry for the double post.

The liberals are not promoting anti-morality. You might have to live with the fact that not everyone lives by the same moral code that you do and that doesn't make it wrong or anti-morality. In any case, even if it is "immoral", there's not much you can do about it. You can't legislate morals. You might be able to punish people for their actions but you can't legislate the way they think. The immorality you see is not because of liberals. In all honesty, it probably has a lot to do with religion. Modern society has less need for God to ward off the darkness so the old world moral control structure is crumbling.

I feel like there is too much emphasis on sex, money, and celebrity in our culture. The desires for those things are not new and are certainly not something you can pin on liberals. Ultimately, we give ourselves what we want. Gratification is the new drug. You mistakenly attribute this to liberalism. The real answer is that God was always something humanity used as a form of control, reassurance, and security. It was much easier when ignorance about the world and everything in it was the norm. The other factor could be modern technology. Television especially, brought whole new worlds into our living room and we were bombarded daily with things we had had never seen or experienced before. We learned about other cultures and discovered just how much variety there truly is. We learned that there were many more ways of life than what our parents knew and taught us about. Simultaneously, the world got bigger and smaller.

There are many factors that have led to where our culture is today. Blaming them completely on liberalism is naive.

Nate, I'll make this brief.
I do not like liberaals for all the reasons I have stated above many times. I will not change my mind on any of my views, and neither will you.

In a nutshell, the way I see it, Liberal thinking has been the reason for the moral decay in America for many years prior, and will continue to advance that decay until the society is left in a steaming heap of Godless cretins who have no souls left. YES, I put the problems of our societal downspiral squarely on the shoulders of Liberals.

I do understand that there are people of low character in every corner of the universe and they're not all Liberals, no one is without sin, but as I said the (moral decay) is the fault of you Liberals.

Other than your views on abortion, homosexuality, and religion, I would tend to agree with you. I too berlieve that parents should be able to reprimand their children, within reason, without the threat of punishment. I'm curious why you list this? I believe in standards of decency and the golden rule as well. I support the 2nd amendment. I find it deplorable that the government is going to the length's that it is to prohibit smoking. I don't have a problem with the safety belt law. If you don't want to wear it, then don't. I think eminent domain is horrible. I believe in America too and want the leaders of our country to do what's best for it and it's citizens. So, in summary, we agree on over 50% of the things you listed.

My problem is not with your views specifically. It's with your complete and misguided demonization of "liberals". You've focused all your anger on liberals whether they deserve it or not. You seem to believe that a liberal is an entirely different type of person that you have nothing in common with. You're wrong about that. Do you really think someone that fights for envrionemental protection laws is someone that hates America? Why is it that you believe that all liberals are indecent and immoral people?

My point is, you're making huge generalizations that are just as hugely unrealistic. You've taken a few people, who may or may not even be "liberals", and judged HALF of America on their actions. Liberals are not the horrible enemy-of-all-things-good that you've convinced yourself that they are. In all honesty, I'm not even sure what a concrete defintion of a liberal is.

I did not believe I "deserved" any of your time. Since you are on Townhall posting comments in a discussion area, I figured that you were interested in having a discussion. It's hard to do that when you're yelling and spitting at me(figuratively speaking). That's why I asked for a rational account of your beliefs.

I couldn't agree with you more. There is this subtle "taking over America" through the brainwashing of the children. There are a lot of moral females, but the intimidation by the "feminists...the he/she females who can bring home the bacon" makes them doubt if this aim in life is a worthy pursuit. Abortion and Infanticide seem to be the acceptable standards spoused by the Democratic Platform, even worse, the genocide under the guise of "roe v. wade" continues to be alive and well. There are so many childless couples out there, why is this not a "Choice?"

Maybe it should be you who needs a geography lesson.
1903, Panama Canal (and take this for facts, I WAS born there) - The U.S. had territorial sovereignty over a 73 hectares of land given to then by the Fledging Panamanian people. If you care to go a little farther than that...the U.S. got the Colombians out of Panama by deploying a U.S. Marine warship in the Bay of Panama, waylaying the Viceroy of Colombia and giving him 2 Million dollars to get out of dodge (ehem...Panama). The U.S. didn't need a Colony which at that time would have drained resourses from what was coming down the pike which was the First World War so they built bases in Panama with MPs, Commissaries, U.S. Police Forces U.S. Army and Air Force hospitals and U.S. Postal services, electric, telephone, and all services provided by U.S. in a U.S. owned land mass. Mr. McCain's birth in Panama, as foreign to your "mind" as it can get, was the same as being born in the U.S. This area WAS U.S.
Mr. Obama's birth in Kenya, as expressed by his paternal grandfather is another difference altogether. The reason the world wide web exists is to allow those of us who lack facts or never took the time in school to learn about certain subjects to educate ourselves at our own time and pace.

Kelly, what a funny person you are
Do you consider yourself to be an authority on Obama and his origin of birth? Can YOU prove he was born in Hawaii, or do you just believe it because you want to believe in him and his liberal agenda or Socialism for America? Me thinks the latter. And for your enlightened information, the courts have not yet settled the matter. It is very much still pending. check Obamacrimes.com for the latest on the situation.

The politicians will not touch Obama's birth certificate controversy because they are cowards and all have something untoward to hide about themselves. They all stick together and protect each other ... always have, always will. The corruption and graffe in the world is more prominent in Washington, DC than any other place in the world. And now with Obama, Reid, Pelosi, the homosexual, Barney Frank and others running things, it will only go downhill faster than ever. Kinda makes me wonder why so many illegals would want to come here to make their home.

She keeps her mouth shut for 8 years and now she has something to say? Well, she should just keep her mouth closed for another 80 years if this is all she has to add to the public discourse.

Her husband is incompetent. When you don't your job even remotely well..you are going to have some criticism coming your way.

WELCOME to the real world, Mrs. Bush. now sit down.

deserve that much of my time? I will not give it to you, but I will say this. I do not like liberals because of their views on, let's see.............EVERYTHING!!! I believe they are bad for America. I believe their lack of morals will destroy anything decent. I believe in the sanctity of life. Abortions should only be in rare cases where the mother's life is in danger. I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. The bible says homosexuality is an abomination, and I believe in the bible's teachings. I believe in God and good over evil. I don't believe in violence unless it is perpetrated upon you. I believe in the golden rule, and good old fashioned standards of common decency. I believe parents should have the right to reprimand their children without being punished for it. I believe in the rights of all Americans to be able to own and bear arms, to smoke in their own cars if they wish, to not have to wear a safety belt if they don't want to. I don't beleive in the eminant domain law that allows government to steal our homes because they WANT them. I believe in America and want the leaders of this great country to do what's best for it and it's people and not sell it out to foreigners of other countries for their own gain.
So, what, in your enlightened opinion, is wrong with my conservative ideals Nate?

Our politicians are moral-less, self-serving, agenda-driven, characterless, lying, thieving, extortionists, adulterers, homosexuals, and nefarious crooks. And Obama has designs on this country that only he knows about, and I will bet my soul that they are not good. He wants to meet with our enemies. He is a lair, he is a traitor to the US because he will sell us down the river to his Muslim friends who want nothing more than to kill us all. The dumbing down of America through the Liberal Media and the Liberal, evil, agenda driven, power hungry ploiticians and the commie worshipping Professors is killing the American Society. Those factions are working dilligently at convincing our youth that a homesexual couple should be glorified in their revolting lifestyle with the rewards of being able to marry. The loose, moral-less women of today who are hornier than most men are led to believe that they should be able to have sex more often than they eat, and then just run to any 'ole butcher doctor who will, for a fee, rip that unwanted useless fetus from her body. We are told we have to use a seat belt or be fined. (Well who the hell life is it anyway?) if I want to kill myself by NOT wearing one, I damned well will, and do! They tell us if we have money our guns in or homes and they happen to find them, they can haul us off to jail, even though the second amendment gives us the right to keep and bear arms. (I do, and will!)
They take our property through eminent domain, what a crock of sh!t! They'll ('expire' trying to take mine) they say now we won't be able to smoke in our cars (I don't smoke) but lots of people do and should have that right. I have not been a democrat since Clinton, but I'm going to take up for LBJ!

The tempo of the Vietnam War increased greatly under LBJ, but he didn't start it. IKE put a handful of troops into Vietnam to evaluate the situation after the French asked him for troops. I say a "handful" because I've never seen a figure . . . it was likely 20-30 folks. The French wanted the troops to serve under them and IKE told 'em to bite sticks. JFK put special operations troops into Vietnam -- again, now certain how many, but it was likely in the hundreds. Things got out of hand after the Tonkin Gulf incident and the troop levels increased and increased, for years and years. Nixon had his problems too, but his intention was to end the war.
LBJ had a lot of good ideas and he knew how to get things done in WASHDC. Therefore, I think he would been one of our best presidents had he not had Vietnam around his neck.

The group included the Washington Post's E.J. Dionne and Eugene Robinson, the Wall Street Journal's Gerry Seib, National Journal's Ron Brownstein, the New York Times Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd, The Atlantic's Andrew Sullivan, and MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, among others.

Some of the writers there today are clearly on the liberal side, while others more moderate. Regardless, it's still quite a contrast from yesterday's dinner companions: George Will, Bill Kristol, David Brooks, Charles Krauthammer, Peggy Noonan, and Paul Gigot.

It's interesting that Sullivan -- author of "The Conservative Soul" -- was invited along with the more liberal wing of the chattering class. Perhaps his Palin-bashing during the campaign wouldn't have gone over well with the righties.

I despise people like 2cents who calls Sarah disgusting and vile names because her teenage daughter had a child out of wedlock, as if she were the worst mother on the planet. I despise the way she and others make accusations of the poor girl (Bristol) of having slept with the entire hockey team, and how Trig isn't really Sarah's baby, and how Sarah had an affair with a man who himself swears it never happened. I hate how the libs, Nancy Pelosi Reid, Frank (the homosexual) and others believe they can do as they please while doing their dead level best to keep the Republican Congress from having any say at all anymore.

In my opinion, the liberal movement is bad for America, period. I believe that it will become quite evident to EVERYONE sooner rather than later that Obama was a mistake they should not have made, and all of us are going to pay through the nose. (The government is spending 100 million of our tax payer dollars on Obama's inauguration, and the libs had a walleyed fit when 40 million was spent on Bush's.) Bush is in the top ten as the worst, but not in the top 5. The reason they think he is the worst because they hate him over Iraq and 2000 and not an objective look at his record which will take decades to examine. calling him the worst when he is still in office is pure mindlessness.

Pejoratives do not an argument make...
After reading the 38 comments above it's apparent that the right side of the room thinks the only requirement for discussion and debate is a noun, verb and a personal attack.

If anyone thinks that pejoratives and personal attack influences anyone but like minded partisans maybe you should ask a liberal (or conservative if you're a liberal and attack is you M.O.) that you know and get along in "the real world"... Then listen to what they say.

Disagreement and debate should make us all better for it but the comments here are mostly childish.

That's an interesting observation. Why is it that the real gems here keep changing their handles? Is it because they get banned with the one they have? Is it because they want to fool us into thinking they're someone new/different? Maybe they're just ashamed of the name they have made for themselves so they decide to become someone else? Or maybe they just don't have the cajones to fess up to who they really are?

I'm sorry, I should have realized you were just another good vs. evil conservative. It's just about impossible to have conversations with people of your mindset as anything non-conservative is seen as the enemy, not to be trusted or given even one second of rational consideration.

You fling the term liberal around like it is an insult. I don't even call myself a liberal. Yes, I have some liberal views, but I also have conservative ones. I don't think conservatives are evil and I don't think liberals are always right.

You, on the other hand, have your mind made up and shut off from outside contact. You know, if you cover up your eyes just right and look at the alphabet, you can convince yourself there is only one letter in it.

So glad to see you here this morning.

While you are here typing at your keyboard, the world is spared the possibility of your reproducing or impressing the minds of those young who exist out there in the real world with your uber-liberal, kneejerk anti-conservative hogwash.

We welcome your presence here for that reason in our own efforts to improve humanity.

I paid close attention to the Republican primaries not so much because I wanted anyone in particular to win but because I definitely wanted Romney to lose. I was scared McCain would pick him as his VP when it was still up in the air over who was going to win the election. Palin was probably just as bad as Romney, only more divisive, and her personality and views made sure Obama would win.

Frank Ronna ia absolutely correct
It is a travesty for him to not be held to the standards of running for office as set forth in the US Constitution, and the people should give a damn and demand he show proof of Citizenship which I understand he is unwilling to do. To deny America that right to know for sure is blindness on the part of all elected officials and the people who would dismiss it so lightly while at the same time crucify Sarah Palin for having a daughter who becomes pregnant before marriage. Some Americans in this country need a reality check from the ignorance that has permeated their ability to think for themselves.

YOU: You would probably defend Sarah Palin from her detractors with the same logic you attack Obama with and thus, you are no different than someone that criticized Palin. I'm sure you'll reply with something along the lines of "Palin is an awesome conservative" in her defense and I'll reply with "Palin is an awesome conservative!" as a reason not to vote for her. Funny how that works eh.

ME: What's so funny is that you can turn that around and it applies to you in reverse!

YIU: BTW, the born in Kenya thing, well, that's pretty old. It's a dead horse. Even Rush and Hannity have stopped beating that one and those guys will cling to anything that makes any non-conservative look bad.

ME: In MY opinion, he is a wolf in sheep's clothing and a liar. If he were so honest, why is he dodging an order from the court to appear with a valid BC? Old or not, it is a travesty for ANYONE to be able to usurp the Constitution of the United States and perpetrate such a ghastly and Unamerican crime on this country and it's people, and he is being protected so he can do just that by the Communistist, shadow government that has you ignorant libs so mind controlled and stupid you will buy anything. Re: Mr. King as Interviewer?
Let's just put this one to rest right now.

Larry King is disgruntled and twisted up little liberal sideshow bob.

During and at the end of the interview, every time he'd ask "W' a question that "W" didn't flinch from or accept the premise, Mr. King would lower his chin and mumble/grumble acceptance and move on.

The end of the interview, Mr. King says, couple of more thing, etc, and then of course, tries to end on "Katrina." Bush knocks the answer back to the retaining wall and King's shoulders and posture slink back to the embryonic. Mr. Bush stated clearly that the failures of Katrina were "at all levels of Government", i.e. State and Local need to be discussed and that during his eight years in office seven and half hurricanes were handled as one would expect. It's seven and a half because "Katrina" was handled appropriately in Mississippi by Republican Haley Barbour as opposed to Blanco and Nagin in Louisiana. The hurricanes that hit Florida were handled by another Republican, Jeb Bush and government was appropriate there as well.

Bush reminded King that as soon as the storm passed, Federal rescue by the Coast Guard was round the clock as helo teams plucked stranded citizens from their roofs.

Mr. King was pained. His attempt to end his interview by making Bush defensive had failed. Indeed the President tutored Mr. King on the facts and facts matter.

Truth is the New Orleans dead are the Nagin dead.

As one that has stood close to Mr. King a couple of times in Beverly Hills and at the O.J. Simpson trial, I assert that he is as thin-shouldered in person as his sincerity and professionalism revealed of him in the interview with President and Laura Bush.

2cents A Moral Black Man???
considering his associations with some of the most nefarious (look it up) men in America, how can you possibly call him 'Moral'? And you didn't answer the question......WHY would his Grandmother call him "The Son Of Kenya if he had not been born there? What other connection to Kenya could he have? And If he was born in Hawaii, why did his gma and Aunt say they wer present when he was born in Kenya? WHY won't he appear in court when ordered to, to produce a valid BC? You won't answer those questions because you can only give your opinions about it, not facts.

By "Historians" you mean...
... the liberals who write history books for poor indoctrinated government-school children, whom say "Insert Name of Previous Republican President here" was the worst president ever. It's a rehashed formula that shows up regardless of situation and time.

If you want to know who the /real/ worst President ever was, you don't have to look far from your own party. Jimmy Carter was, without a doubt, the most ineffective leader. He knew nothing about economics or the safeguarding of this nation and was willing to let America's economic and military strength decline to satisfy the extremists within his own party that helped him get elected.

All indication is that Obama is going to do the same, except play it safe for his first term and make up lost time by passing every crazy law he can muster in his potential next term.
Susan writes: Wednesday, January, 14, 2009 10:26 AM
