I doubt this will be decisive in the election because MSM's bias is so well known and their output so deeply discounted as a result. Obama's weakness as a candidate, though, is underscored by his inability to break away from McCain even with a thousand MSMers pushing him up the hill.

McCain actually DID try to regulate fm/fm, admittedly belated (but still almost three years ago). As did Republicans over four years ago. I don't know the relationship of McCains advisors to fm/fm or how successful they were. And that's really the question, n'est pas?
All of the CEO's of fm/fm who are looting the taxpayers are Democrats. Fm/fm are Democrat institutions. Democrats (Reno) forced lenders to make bad loans. After malfeasence was discovered, Democrats circled the wagons around the Democrat CEO looters. Two of the Democrat looter CEO's are on Obama's campaign team.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac however were created to assuage liberal white guilt. "Deregulation" of fm/fm occured because of the knowledge that if "regulated", the Congressional Black Causus would drag in some of the dredges of society to point their fingers at Republicans and scream "RACIST!" or "The white mans greed runs a world in need".
And while fm/fm was being looted by Obama's advisors, and while fm/fm was making loans to people who'd never get a loan because they had no money, guilty white liberals joined the CBC in deriding any attempts (S190 for example) BY REPUBLICANS to stop the madness at fm/fm.

Obama's claim to fame is that he was a community organizer. Why don't we ever meet any of these people he's claimed to have helped? Anyone who denies the media bias for Obama is kidding themselves. Sarah Palin has had every part of her life scrutinized by the lapdog media, but have they ever done any close examination of Barack Obama? Of course not. We're about to elect a man for president who most Americans have barely a clue about. The media has done its job masterfully of covering up any negative aspects of Barack Obama. I know that Senator Obama gets Secret Service protection as a presidential candidate. I just didn't know that his security detail also included ABC, NBC, CBS, the New York Times, the Washington Post, etc... They've convinced a large number of Americans he's the "Real Deal", rather than showing him as the left-wing, Chicago hack machine politician he really is. |

The question was out there to list some of Obama's accomplishments and I did.
we can get into a 'tit for tat' on all the horrible Obama accomplishments and all the horrible McCain accomplishments there are.
But that wasn't the purpose of the original question by "eddie too." And I think I managed to answer that question.
PS lets not talk about Obama's OR McCains team unless you want to open up that can o worms. McCain's team is littered with (or used to be littered with until they all resigned) Ex lobbyists and washington insiders.

He put the looters of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on his campaign team.

Here are a few
Obama was responsible for the the KidCare Program and the Healthcare Justice Act both of which were aimed to provide healthcare to Illinois citizens. Tens of thousands of kids and adults got healthcare in Illinois as a result.
Obama cosponsored the Lobby and Ethics Reform Act. nuff said.
Another Illinois thing. Obama revised capital punishment and death penalty laws to keep innocent people from being sent to death row and making sure that those on death row in Illinois had their fair trial.
Lugar-Obama initiative to provide more funding to track down loose WMDs.
Obama worked with McCain on the Secure Orderly Immigration Act. Probably not a particular favorite of conservatives. :)
Most importantly. Obama was against the Iraq war and he felt we should have been focusing in on finishing the job in Afghanistan. He was right.
I bet there is more. But if you were honestly looking for a list of accomplishments for BHO, this is a start.
and fyi- I can't think of any of the above accomplishments that qualify as, "self-aggrandizement." But I sure it will be twisted as so. |

I do not know all about Obama's past. I only know about his saying things like, I am bitter and for that reason cling to guns and God. Or, saying, "my muslim faith", after having been born muslim, lived in a muslim country for four of his most formative years, and studied the Koran to where he can say the muslim evening prayer in Arabic.
As for Biden, when a person plaigerizes they are stealing someone else's words and lyingly pretending they are one's own words. Biden was caught doing this not once, but twice. Obama also was caught doing this not once, but twice.

Here is my thought for McCain to throw a monkey wrench into things.
Offer HRC a Cabinet Post. Or a Secretary position.
McCains last great hope is not that he has the experience. Trust me, in the last debate, if he had sooo much experience than Obama, it didn't show. more imporantly, the polls show IT DIDN"T MATTER TO VOTERs.
His last hope is to paint himself as the bipartisan candidate. And to paint Obama as the partisan candidate.
He needs to figure out some gimmick (because lately thats all he seems to be good at) at showing voters that he is the best candidate to work for a bipartisan Washington.

The polls are not showing any 'bump' but a clear 'trend' in Obama's favor. He is running out of time. McCain still needs to deal with the rest of the debates, and if the last one is any indication he will not be making any knock out punches. And then there is still Palin's debate. If McCain has the goods, now's the time.
Fact is, there are no goods. HRC took the best shot she had at BHO, and it was Rev Wright. The Rev Wright thing DOMINATED the news networks for weeks.

What's the plan Hugh? Specifically, what actions can Team McCain and the Republican party take to get their message heard. Every minute spent complaining to a very small choir is a minute lost in moving the message football down the field.
I would love to see a a series of post on the "Seven step plan for victory" rather than another example of MSM bias.

If it appears as though McCain and Palin are getting hammered by the press its because they are poor candidates.
Take a step back and look at the situation from 1-2 years ago.
Everyone thought HRC would get the nomination. She was next in line. The media crowned her and all she basically had to do was not make mistakes. But during the primary season she did.
The media was on her side all the way. They paid no attention to Obama until Super Tuesday when he wiped the floor with HRC.
The media is on ITS OWN SIDE. HRC was making the media tons of money. Obama is now too. McCain and Palin are not being ignored or shunned by the media, they just aren't cash cows like Obama.
If the media was ohhh so powerful and influential as you guys like to think, then there was NO WAY possible the media would have let GWB get reelected in 2004. GWB was and still is scorned by every media type both nationally and internationally. Yet he still managed to get reelected.
The media will always cash in on who is making them the most $$ at any given time. Palin was absolutely adored by the media before she opened her mouth and tripped all over her tongue.
Obama is a freaking rock star with the media because he makes them $$. His popularity is a cash cow. Why do you think every magazine puts his face on the cover these days? DO you think they make the same money when McCain is on the cover? HELL NO.
McCain is only worth covering to see what antics he will pull next in this election season. He lost his media support when he shut them out of the "straight talk express" He used to be a man of the media, the medias best politican. Now, not so much.

Sorry, this is absolutely true...but unfortunately it looks like its going to work. I know scores of people who like and are going to vote for Obama, and they don't know why (they cant answer without saying the word "Bush" in the sentence).
The MSM will most likely in Novemember have done what they set out to do - elect basically a joke of a candidate. But hats off to them and the Dem Party, IMO. We need to figure out how to combat it before 2012.
The American poplation is gullible but not stupid - they will see what the MSM can do, if we try hard enough. Unfortunately this time, we couldnt try hard or fast enough to stem their biased tide...but again it's all politics. The MSM is on their team and hats off to them for using it wisely! |

Americans detest the MSM - here is Chicago - the Tribune and Sun Times are Obama organs - everyone knows that - they are also - print stations for the disposable, childless, transient consumers as opposed to the 30yr. mortgage folks with four to five kids - most Chicagoans.
Most Chicagoans read the papers and watch the news with the same level of curiosity and expecattion one gets from watching Celebrity News or COPS. Same thing always happens - no one takes it seriously.
Chicagoans take their lives, their mortgages, their taxes, and their votes very seriously.
The people who insult them on a daily basis - the MSM are for Obama.
Chicagoans and Americans will return the contempt and the nuanced nonsense in trumps on November 4th. Most of my Neighbors - Democrats all like myself are solidly for McCain. Many will have Obama yard signs up. Watch the returns - it will be McCain/Palin.

Furthermore, the big problem is that they're NOT reporting the facts. No one in the MSM has looked at Obama's relationship to Ayers or Rezco. No one has really taken a serious look at his positions in the issues. The MSM has by and large given him a pass on his gaffes. The MSM has by and large given Biden a pass on his countless gaffes. So, don't give me this BS about the term "MSM" referring to reality based media that simply reports facts that conservatives don't like.

in my life, I'll be voting for the Republican POTUS candidate. The unprofessionalism of the mass media (mainstream? nope.) is playing a large role in my decision.
It is the mass media who foisted these two candidates upon us. McCain was so proud of his media endorsements that he put them on his website during the primaries. He is the LAST Republican of all those running I'd have voted for. But for me, this isn't about McCain/Palin, this is about Barak Obama.
Obama has never been vetted. The mass media has crawled up the wombs of the Palin women, but they're mum on Ayres, Rezko, and Frank Marshall Davis.
Other firsts: yard signs for GOP candidates, donating time and money to the GOP, and calling up friends around the country to talk about Democrat corruption with regard to Fannie Mae.
Last night I sent email links of the utube video of Democrats defending the looting of fm/fm. I also replaced my Nolte/Busey '08 bumpersticker with a Bob Schaffer for Senate.
I'll fight mass media bias with every ounce of energy I have; on the streets, on the phone, on the computer, in the grocery store, at the gas pump,...
I even got my lifelong Democrat parents to cancel their subscription to their own local communist rag, the Wichita Eagle-Beacon. |

This is well known, and for some reason McCain has decided not to make this an issue - as if the MSM would cover it if it did.
He needs to take the opportunities to go over the Media unfiltered - i.e. debates - to hammer B. Hussein as Palin did at the convention, which jump started the voters. His bipartisan s**t, and being presidential only works if both sides are playing on an even playing field.

Neither McCain nor Obama are going to say a authoritative word about this crisis until public opinion starts to sway in favor of the bailout. If stocks drop another 777 points today opinions will sway and both McCain and Obama will be all in favor of whatever bill happens to be on the docket.
When this country needs a leader the most, the two that have the greatest chance to lead are hiding behind public opinion. |
