The Blog Turns 10
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 11:03 AM
And, you've come a long way, baby!
Blogs have come a long way since Dec. 17, 1997, when Jorn Barger coined the term "weblog" to describe the list of links on his Robot Wisdom website that "logged" his internet wanderings. In the decade hence, blogs have come to dominate the net, from 100 million personal diaries to the breaking news sections of the august The New York Times.
(Click through for picture goodness of the original blogger, which will kind of confirm what you've always thought about bloggers.)

More evidence that the Internet's not evil:
"The public can find themselves in a dialogue with politicians and leaders that simply wasn't possible before," he said. "(Blogging is) a tool that you can use to do anything. Change the world or put up your restaurant's daily menu, and anything in between."

Bill O'Reilly
From the same article
"Blogging at its best is deeply personal, and once readers get used to that kind of connection to a writer, it's hard for them to accept anything less,"

Considering that Bill has his own blog it's hard to deny he uses it for this purpose, unless he just has it to make money...
If you want to connect with him through the discussing an entry it will cost you $4.95 a month or $49.95 a year. BTW his last personal post was Nov. 12th.

Wonder what BOR will want to discuss.
The "good Net", the fact that blogs are 10, or something that he can tisk-tisk at.

As for the pic, that's only applicable to the male end of the blogosphere.

Defending BOR
As a loyal fan of BOR, I'd like to defend him here, but I don't know what else to say. I can't change the mind of anyone at Townhall that doesn't like him or wonders why MK keeps coming back on "The Factor" every Wednesday night.

And remember...
...I'm a year and a half *younger* than MKH.
