Principled Conservatism!!
It's is truly sad that so few Townhall readers understand and support PRINCIPLED CONSERVATISM.

When one abandons principle for the sake of pragmatism, one soon finds them self on the path to compromise and loosing. Too many at Townhall are caught up in the shortsightedness of "electability" arguments.

Catch the vision, catch the spirit, and do not compromise!!

the experts
Why don't we hear the experts gushing over this speech? The liberal liar Romney could say anything and it was brilliant according to the experts. Here we have a guy that knows what he is talking about and knows how to do it and he gets no support from the experts. The experts have been wrong all along.
It should be obvious how Huckabee would do against Clinton or Obama, he would clean their clocks. McCain or Romney cannot.

Al Sharpton of Christian Conservatism
Governor Huckabee is a great communicator, and I've enjoyed many of his one liners as well as some well-articulated comments on the campaign trail...but this sappy CPAC speech was a flop. His faith at the first of the campaign felt like a natural part of him, but it has become a very apparent political device. He goes out of his way to bring it up ("a 'PASTOR' used to tell me such-and-such when I was young", instead of leaving it "SOMEONE" or "A WISE MAN" --a more wise and tempered version, not wanting to distract from the such-and-such). He can't resist pushing the Faith button, and it's starting to feel like the same piano key being banged incessantly---the repetition of a certain note in a song is perfectly natural (like the Faith note might be on the campaign trail) unless it obnoxiously draws attention to itself over and over.

This speech was shallow and trite, terribly unpresidential, and transparently pandering. Who wants a president who says "I didn't major in math, I majored in miracles"??? How does that bode well for his economic philosophy, foriegn policy, etc. etc.?

Al Sharpton of Christian Conservatism
What a contrast to Mitt Romney's speech. His was powerfully expansive and patriotic, giving up on a much better chance at the nomination for the sake of helping the Republican Party win the White House and protect the nation. How smallishly selfish is Huckabee, whose intentions are typified in today's speech with rhetoric like "me, me, me, when I were a boy" and "me, me, me, and my fairy-tale tax" and "me, me, me, I'm staying in this dern race, 'cause this ain't no campaign for president, this is a campaign for selling-a-bunch-faith-promotin'-books-next-year and livin'-the-high-life-through-speaking-engagements-as-I-milk-the-Bible-Belt-of every-last-widow's-mite".

Huckabee has shown he’s the Al Sharpton of Christian Conservatism, playing up stereotypes on the campaign trail to rally voters who are prone to special interest. He’s a weasel trying to use the unsuspecting believer's faith as a tool to get what he wants. It's enough to make the discerning Christian cringe.

That is one of the most disgusting charges I have ever heard.

The biggest problem with the Huckabee critics on this blog is they use the same tactics as the Drive by media. Do some real research. I invite you to go to http://www.hucksarmy.com and click on the video section. Watch the "Decade of Duty" videos. This man is good when the chips are down. He is principled, effective and doesn't owe one thing to a washington lobbiest or interest group. You sir are no conservative.

The best communicator in the republican party since Reagan. Mike Huckabee.

Will you guys start singing his praises when we get to a brokered convention and don't have to settle for McCain?

He is okay...
I Like Mike's humour and wit but I don't like his class warefare and sometimes he seems like he is the other side of the coin Obama is on. Its hope, hope, miracles and hope. Also, ya can't deny he has flip flopped as much as anyone.
Romney was disproportionately charged with being the flip flopper.
If Mike can get pull something off thats fine, I think if any of these guys waver to much the conservative base will rein them in. So we got we we got and we need to prepare earlier next time and now I think we have a couple guys set up that are now starting from the conservative side.

Huck's the only conservative in Race!
How anyone can watch this speech and not be moved is beyond me. It shows that people see what they want to see.

What ever happened to civil intelligent discourse among conservatives? Used to be that people could debate the issues without resorting to inane emotional diatribes.

This disease that has been rife among liberals and Democrats is infecting conservative people and organizations. Good conservatives need to wake up!

Ann Coulter pointed out that “Godlessness is the Church of Liberalism”. The founding principles of conservatism rest on the bedrock of Judeo-Christian values. Increasingly the Republican Party is being infiltrated with situational ethics oriented secular "conservatives" who are more opposed to principled Christian Candidates than they are of liberal ones.

Sadly many "Christian" conservatives are confused about Christianity and haven't formed their consciences well enough to vote accordingly. Yes, moral relativism has infected Christians as well. How else can someone support a candidate that selectively accepts some fundamental Christian principles and ignores others?

The reason George Bush won was because he touched the hearts of sincere values voters. No, he wasn’t perfect and there are many issues I disagree with him on, but has stood firm on fundamental life issues.

If the Republican Party turns away from this block of voters who define true conservatism, then it will become like the Democratic Party... Godless!

Huckster
Huckabee leans on his religious credentials a little too much in advancing in political career. Its nice that he is Christian, me too. Its also nice that he comes from humble beginnings. It feels like Mike is giving us an excuse for his past instead of vision for the future.
Its interesting how often Huckabee folks level derogatory name calling at there opponents. I've become numb from such unsophisticated verbiage from the left. Huckabee's indirect/direct name calling of opponents has encouraged this.

This is Must See & Share Video!
It seems to me the opposition against Huck is mostly based in silly anti-religious phobias. This speech is arguably the best conservative speech by any candidate in this entire campaign yet.

Gov Huckabee is not just an inspiring speaker though, he's also proven himself to be an accomplished leader who knows how to get things done, he's also shown himself to be a skilled campaigner (prior to this marathon campaign he won highly contested statewide elections in Arkansas 4 times).

Here's an article that points out some of his accomplishments as Governor in Arkansas - it may surprise you what he has done for the GOP and for conservatives in his state. Check it out and see for yourself why his supporters have been saying he's the most consistent choice for conservatives...

The baptist.
"Officials of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, initially agreed to host the annual multi-denominational Austin Area Interreligious Ministries Thanksgiving celebration last year, but abruptly canceled when they came to realize that Muslims might actually pray there. Under criticism, the church said that it "hopes" the religious community "will ... be tolerant of our church's beliefs" that necessitated the decision. [Austin American-Statesman, 11-16-07] "
