The Illinois state legislature is going to hold hearings on Gitmo-midwest. John and Cisco talked to Tom Cross, the Illinois House Republican Leader. December 9th is the one year anniversary of the arrest of Governor Rod Blagojevich. He was at a book signing yesterday and signed a copy of the Constitution. Her Jewish neighbor across the street is understandably less than amused. She says she’s trying to make the point that the mistreatment she’s gotten from the homeowners association is exactly like what the Nazi’s did to the Jews. Last night at West Point President Obama unveiled his new strategy for Afghanistan. Obama is calling for 30,000 more troops, and withdrawal of US troops by July of 2011. Bill Gertz the defense and national security reporter for the Washington Times joined John to talk about the speech from a military angle. The backers of the Chicago Spire are in talks with the AFL-CIO about the possibility of using money from their pension fund to revive the project. This would be similar to the deal struck when Marina City was built. With the real estate market being what it is right now, is it a good idea for a union to use their pension fund to build condos?

The White House party crasher story gets stranger by the day. Michaele and Tareq Salahi have even been asked to testify in front of Congress about how they were able to get into last weeks state dinner. Former Chicago Alderman Burt Natarus will be performing in the play Love Letters this Sunday at 5pm at Zanies on Wells Street.
