If I ran the Zoo

Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

The good folks at the National Association of Scholars (see NAS.org) have asked me to write a short piece modeled after the Dr. Seuss book If I ran the Zoo. Specifically, they want me to enumerate the changes I would make in higher education if I ran the system.

Of course, I’ve never really imagined being in charge of the zoo because, you see, I am an endangered species. I am a Christian, a Caucasian, a Conservative, and a Capitalist. But these four “Cs” were not something the liberals could foresee. When I was hired I was an Atheist, an America hater, an Abortion supporter, and a bit of an Alcoholic. The changes in these four “As” are now the cause of my forays.

Since I am now an endangered species, the liberals like to come by my cage and stare at me while I work. They’ve never really seen the likes of an animal such as me in the zoo in which they work. But I am used to them now. And so I will write about what it would be like to be on the other side – as silly as the proposition might be.

In the zoo in which I work, students applying for the position of resident’s assistant are asked whether they would have any religious objections to providing RU 486 (upon request) to the pregnant young women living in their dorms. Student applicants are disqualified from the job if, for religious reasons, they would refuse to do so.

If I ran the zoo, I would make employees in the Division of Student Activities go deer hunting with the Second Amendment Club. These employees would have to provide ammunition to the hunters if they ran out. They would be fired if they refused to do so.

In the zoo in which I work, students are not allowed to post signs on their dorm room doors if those signs might “incite” people. They can find themselves in front of a disciplinary committee for violations of this or one of our many other speech codes.

If I ran the zoo, university administrators would be required to read Supreme Court decisions, which have stated that “Every idea is an incitement”. (See Gitlow v. People of New York, 1925). Every dormitory student would be required to post materials on his door, which are meant to incite. No student would be given a degree unless he could prove that he incited his fellow students and that he did so with regularity.

In the zoo in which I work, female students are provided with a Women’s Resource Center. But male students are not provided with a Men’s Resource Center.

If I ran the zoo, I would interpret Title IX as prohibiting the building of a center for one sex but not the other. But I would raze the WRC, not build an MRC. This would be symbolic of the fact that Title IX is almost always used to destroy opportunities for some and provide opportunities for none. Afterwards, I would put a nursery in the place of the WRC to care for the children of female students who choose not to abort their children. I would reward these brave pro-life students with free tuition – paid for by doubling the tuition of male students who get women pregnant out of wedlock.

In the zoo in which I work, a pro life group was recently denied official status by the school. The reason was the injection of a “faith statement” in the club’s constitution – one the university saw as too exclusive.

If I ran the zoo, the people who rejected this pro life group would have to do community service. I would make them do it all for groups with whom they do not voluntarily associate. They would clean up beer cans at NASCAR races, spent shells at gun ranges, and diapers at Christian day care centers. And after they were through I would have them write “Diversity is our Greatest Strength” 100 times. Or, they could just admit that they don’t really believe in diversity.

In the zoo in which I work, feminists ban words they deem offensive. For example, they ban the use of words like “mankind” and phrases like “year of our Lord.” They are always losing control of their emotions –usually in the midst of asserting their equality, emotional and otherwise.

If I ran the zoo, the feminists would be sentenced to mandatory “de-sensitivity” training. In order to make them less sensitive, they would be strapped down and tranquilized while hearing disagreeable terms repeated in a soft and soothing (preferably female) voice. After hearing words like “adoption” and phrases like “innate gender differences” and “stay at home moms” they would eventually learn to tolerate ideas they don’t necessarily endorse.

That is really all I can think of at this time. So let me end with a little rhyme:

I guess that if I ran the zoo
This is what I’d choose to do
But since my name is not McGrew
I guess I’ll never run the zoo
And so I’ll sue and sue and sue.

hmmmm
In the zoo what would I do?
What would I do if I ran the Zoo?

First I'd make them all recite
Some verse or line meant to incite

Why yes, I would cause them ponder
Make them think and make them wonder

Why have they been taught, such a pity,
such things like false diversity.

How they, in their own rebellion
have created only new tradition.

I could go on but dont think I will
Against the "Suess" this is swill.

I only wish
you could actually run the zoo.

Mike, I need you to be running a zoo in about 16 years from now, so when my twin daughters are ready for college I can send them to your school.

Huzzah!
I have achieved a pinnacle. I can now live the rest of my life satisfied. I have posted first on an Adams column! Oh the sweet sweet taste of the precious fruit!

Michael
Don't you see that YOU are every bit as "sensitive" and bullying and intolerant and in-your-face about ideas (Christopher Hitchens notion that religion "poisons everything", gay marriage, female equality - TRUE female equality, not the misogynistic bible story about Eve being created, second-hand & subservient, from Adam's rib) as the "radical" feminists and "militant" homosexuals you purport to distain?

Like the recovering alcoholic and druggie in AA who has swapped booze for God, you are on a MISSION as fervent as any obsessed gay activist or intolerant feminist you meet on your travels.

Like the radical feminist, you pretend to be the "diverse" & sane one also, and like the radical feminist with her structured ideology, you now, also, wrap yourself up tightly in ideology, in biblical scripture and Jesus lore in order to fill the void of drugs and alcohol, in order to create meaning out of the meaningless.

Mike, I'm sorry I've been so harsh & dismissive of you & your ideas in the past. Through the act of amateur analysis, I feel I know you a bit better now. And this atheist feels compassion for you and the human experience and fragility you exhibit when you "parody" the ideas your newfound biblical ideology tells you to reject.

Oh. Happy gay wedding day to all my Californian Townhallers. Beautiful day.

The Closest Thing ...
to a thread of the Will's special subject is the diversity piece, so I fully expect Will won't post very much today. His hook was not here ... but time to time he posts about his special subject anyway. Just 'cause he's Will.

I miss the opportunity to let Will know how very much his special subject is the source of so many of the 'problems' afflicting our young today. Would that her were here so I could remind him just how ugly and troubling his behavioral lifestyle really is. Yes, that is something I try often to do, just come here to remind Will how hurtful is his particular behavioral lifestyle really is.

But alas, I shall not get to mention this today, as Will has run away. To where he now plays, I cannot say. Try as I might, I have not a clue in sight. Perhaps he has had a fright, and is now out of sight. What ho, Will, has something gone amist, Oh no, what is the twist? Pray tell, else we go afright, into the dark night.

Ah time for sleep, so nary a peep. All God's children gotta rest, so be blest. Tomorrow's another day, we will get up and then play.

Will

Why do you bother posting such drivel? Does it pump you up to be so condescending? You know what? I don't wanna know.

You have my sympathy. In your rebellion against God, you have likely condemned your soul to eternal misery. Unless you repent.

There is always hope you will repent.

May God change your heart.

Wills panties are in a twist...
...because he hates to see one of his former atheist brothers finding meaning with God rather than through alcohol. Don't worry will, bring all your cares and concerns to JD and we'll bring ours to JC.

Will
Waits until Dr.Adams posts a column then rants about it, hopefully first.

Ya gotta give the guy credit for trying, he is is obcessed with Dr. Adams and his beliefs, that he has to read them and respond first if he can.

And Will for sure is a 4 A guy.

Will ... yer here after all
Be careful Will, the issue will be on the ballot for the next vote ... so remember, it ain't over 'til it is over. And, it is odds on you will be eating crow, not cake.

In a fair world where Judges don't actually make law this would not be a vote of refuting a few Judges who create what is not there, rather it would be about endorsing the fact that marriage has been a union of a man and a woman, and should remain such. Why? Well, for starters there is nothing biologically, socially, or medically redeeming about homosexuality ... nothing.

Unfortunately, these Judges did create something that was not there, so the people of California have to again refute these out of touch clowns in black robes.

Will will (ha! a funny) be made unhappy soon.

Will
Diverse from you is Dr. Adams
Diverse from those that would be Madames

It is this and this precise
that gets your member in such a vise

So go on then, rant and rave
We know that Adams is your fave

I know I should not mimic Suess
I try to stop, but what's the use?

the zoo
Great ideas. Why are Christians supposed to be so tolerant but liberals aren't? I loved the one requiring students to incite. That would be great, requiring college students to think, that's a great idea.

Pinto Man-- Good Question.
The Lefties feel justified being intolerant because they believe themselves to be morally superior to the rest of us.

As one Leftette once said, they think that Republicans are found in the dictionary between reptile and repugnant.

They don't mind ranting and raving and saying all kind of nasty things about us, not permitting us to get a word in edgewise.

They don't even take the time to actually hear what we have to say, but pre-judge us before we even open our mouths.

Here in Los Angeles, there are so many Lefties, they will automatically assume that you agree with them and start ranting about how horrible conservatives are, never realizing that I belong to the group they are insulting. They assume that since I am likable, I must be a liberal.

Their hatred for George Bush is inexplicable, and when they describe him, it makes me wonder if they have actually ever even listened to what he has to say, or just the lies that are spread on NPR?

Dying from Political Correctness
Mike, great article. On the major freeway in Utah, there is a billboard depicting a burning american flag along with the words,

"Your Country is Dying From Political Correctness". It's for the website http://www.fightpc.net

I instantly thought of you

i thought
this was a great piece of satire but I wonder about the idea that women who choose not to abort their babies get free tuition. How about the woman who choose celibacy? Do they pay merely because they haven't become pregnant at all?

Good job, go buy an AR15
In case you can no longer buy one in January you might like to buy one today, you deserve it. I was surprised to find that I am not alone in having gone from the four "As" to four "Cs", as always I love your work and take a moment to enjoy it and that wonderful thing called tenure.

I don't think I'd be able to attend...
...college today. I'd never be able to take a course because they'd have me in the "sensitivity," "diversity," and "equal opportunity" training.

I'm with Bob, though...time to stock-up on firearms and ammo.

Sig Sauer is giving a $100 rebate to military, law enforcement and commercial pilots for purchasing one of their pistols. Details at their website.

Midway USA is having a sale on 7.62mm (berdan primed).

Tick-off a liberal: Buy a Gun!

If I Ran The Zoo
I would bring back recitation day, in which everyone would be assigned a fairly lengthy piece of worthwhile literature written in the 19th century or before, which he or she must memorize and recite before assembled classmates during the week at our daily assemblies. Because of the serious illiteracy of Generation Whine and their GrabbyBaby offspring, I would assign these pieces for all Freshmen, and for those who come the zoo illiterate. These would be pieces such as *The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere*, *Barbara Fretchie*, *The Highwayman*, *The Wreck of the Hesperus*, *Horatius at the Bridge* and various Shakesperean soliloquies. For History classes I would give extra credit for anyone who could read and explain from the Federalist Papers or Alexis de Toquville.

I would start a Domestic Science Department to replace Gender Studies. It would be open to everyone and would teach housekeeping, household bookeeping, carpentry, home repair, sewing and mending, and cooking. There would be a *Double Take* shop where clothing and household items that had been repaired, refurbished, mended and spiffed up would be for sale on consignment to the public at large; the money earned would be used for the programs of th Department.

Weekly *Table Talk* dinners would be held at which attendance would be mandatory. The tables for 8 would be presided over by staff members, and would be set with silver, china, crystal and tablecloths, and cuisine would be served. Conversation would be strictly limited to topics of general interest that would be acceptable in polite company in any country in the world, not including sports, sex, current movies or NA$CAR. Students would be graded on manners, ability to participate, and attempts to fit in with the group which would be randomized weekly.

Mr. Adams
I will try to take your lead and be tollerant of the lefts insane and whacked out views that they bring to us normal lovable conservatives. I will strive to be kind to the libsquirts in the future!
Ooops. I guess thats no gonna work!
LOL

will
Week after week - your "rebuttals" of Dr. Adams' columns demonstrate how something inside you is crying out for peace.

The first step to finding it is to accept the idea that you just might not have all the answers.

Will, you misunderstand
Will, the method of the article is "Show absurdity through absurdity." That is, point out the hypocrisy and idiocy of leftist policies by outlining equivalent policies of an idiot right-winger. I say "idiot" right-winger because a main-stream, everyday right-winger would not institute such drivel as Mike proposes. Instead, most conservatives encourage freedom of ideas and the discussion of them, the freedom of association, and the freedom of religion (including atheism, homosexuality, and global warming). Hmmm, that sounds familiar, where have I read that before?
-=-=-
I'm sure some of the left is thinking, Well what about bombing of abortion centers? Guess what? MOST of the right condemns such action; I certainly do. Where as people like Obama is unable to condemn Ayers. See the difference?

hmmm...
PNW's post was first
And, as per normal, Will's is worst
For oft he comes to drop his drivel
In hopes the talks derail or swivel
on topics wide and far and deep
Between the folks who cannot sleep
But come instead to post some lines
And seek for meanings in our times.

The posts, though few, are not myopic
and PNWCon's on topic
That post, the first, was sure the please
The meter flows with Seuss-like ease
And guides the eye from word to word
As steady as a chirping bird
And so PN, my thanks to you
For posting fast, and posting true.

Forgive the Diversion
This is completely off topic, but I'm a little confused about the floods in Iowa. I'm seeing widespread devastation and massive property loss. Thousands of people are out of their homes and in shelters. Many have lost everything.

But I don't see any rioting. I don't see thousands of registered democrats looting stores, killing each other, shooting at rescue teams, and bellyaching about racism. Instead I'm seeing orderly conduct and citizens helping each other.

This is very strange. Can someone explain the difference to me? What is it about Midwesterners that makes them behave in such contrast to those in New Orleans?

My daughter's in the zoo!
My daughter, accompanied by my wife, just just returned from freshman orientation at Mike's zoo. It is no exaggeration to state that the administration trumpets "diversity is our greatest strength". Not academic excellence, not character, integrity, honor, peace, or justice. Diversity.

My daughter is strong. She knows what she believes and she knows why she believes it. She laughs and shakes her head at the diversity drivel, because like Mike, she knows they don't live what they preach. But nevertheless, for all of my brothers and sisters who do not see and yet believe, please pray for her strength and protection from the evil one.

Ah, Will.....
You seem unable or unwilling to distinguish between attack and defense.

It is the radical feminists, the radical homosexuals, the Marxists, the Hate America crowd and their ilk who are attacking our America.

Professor Mike and legions of men and women who detest the insanity posed by the attackers are defending.

Will, the way to put Mike out of business is to stop the attack.

Voila! No more fighting!

AudiR10
Love your post. People do need basic life learning. Many today could not repair a tear in clothing or balance a check book. The "anything goes" don't seem to know how to dress in public - even for just one hour a week. I live in a tourist area and even local adults come to church in shorts and flip-flops, bare midriffs, etc. Disgusting so little respect in the house of our Lord.

Come on!
The column was ok, but honestly, how often can Adams claim to be a victim and still be considered a conservative?

MikeR
I think it was meant to be funny. hee hee hee ha ha ha. You Pennsylvania liberals sure are bitter!

Conversion . . .
I also was a 4-A before being compelled by the Spirit into the Kingdom and changing into a 4-C.
I was 43 when this happened, so I well remember who I was before my conversion, the essence of my conversion, and what has happened since then.

I delight that you have the gifts you demonstrate, and that God has called you to His service where you are. May He continue to bless you, while we praise His Holy Name!

In The Zoo
I am a man within the zoo
And what you say is clearly true

The left it seems has run amok
And true, at times it seems to S*@k

The answer, folks, as Mike as found
Is laughter clear and laughter sound

The battle's been already won
Through Him on high and through His Son

So do your part, and keep your smile
Do what you can -- it's but a while

And 'member this, when you talk with Will
That we are right and he is ill

My coffee's done, my writing's through
It time to get back to the zoo

I've minds to shape, with thought and jest
The way's not fast, but it is best.

Gee,
I had no idea resident's assistants had a dispensing license to distribute RU 486.

My, how times have changed!

Great article, Dr. Adams!!

MRCMRC
what does this mean?:

"if you are an endangeder species"

Just courious, the rest of your drivel was hard to decypher, but this? I can't make heads or tales of it!
Pulllleeeezzzeee explain!

Don't always agree
with Mike Adams, but agree with everything in this article -- especially the signs in the dorm rooms. That is just terrible! And there was a new poll out today too showing that supoort for free speech is weakening. It is really scary.

Thanks!
Hey, all you Suess-niks! Thanks for the smiles!

Fool's paradise.
When did "diversity" people take over university campuses? Perhaps it can be explained by their hiring practices. Since the competition of ideas is nearly gone, they have become extremely bold in their foolishness. Fools agreeing with fools. Normal people used to ignore or be slightly embarrassed for them. Will sending my children to these places result in anything good? All I can see is an empty savings account, indoctrination and the creation of another fool. I think it's time for more grown ups to go back to school and give these university people a little bit of reality. Think of it as a mission from God.

mikescott
No, I’m not trying to be funny at all. The column has its point but Adams is playing the victim card. As a conservative, you are supposed to be opposed to such action. Do you ever take time to think and make a point? You come off as a conservative Will. For him, Adams never does anything right; while you find Adams to be beyond reproach. As always, I entreat you to say why I’m wrong instead of coming up with a clever insult.

RE: Fool's paradise
Joycey has a great idea. Allow me to expand on it by adding my ideas.

Every adult not brain washed by PC should sign up for one course at their nearest "institution of higher learning."

Preference should be given to courses were the instructor stopped actually teaching his/her subject two days after receiving tenor. They now waste the students time and the payer's money on their favorite cause.

It might be best in the worst cases to have two or more adults in the class. When ever the instructor starts on their favorite rant they will be interrupted by, "Your Wrong! And what does it have to do with the subject of this course." If there are multiple adults in the class they should take up the protest.

In cases were the lecture is close enough to the course subject for above to not work just keep interrupting with "WRONG" when ever the instructor interjects their fiction into the lecture.

Doing this might require more effort then expended on the adults original degree. It would be important to both read the course textbook and other books articles etc.

Tolerance masked
Another satiricle piece that is well written, quite humorous and timely.
Under the guise of tolerance, why is it acceptable when an openly gay male couple can recruit on campus with the backs of their pants removed and their gluteous maximus hanging out while fondling each other but a young man dressed in a suit is ostracized and removed from campus for handing out religious tracts and flyers inviting students to a church service?
The gay organization clearly stated it did not want anyone who was not gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgendered from attending. The young man in a suit said all were welcome to attend.
The young man was removed in the name of tolerance and the gay couple were widely advertised to show the public the diverstiy of the school and its tolerance.
HELLO!

ANYONE WANTING AMMO
to rebut Will go to http://www.youtube.com:80/watch3v=XzpOS3y01QA
REALLLY FUNNY - UNLESS YA HAPPEN TO BE WILL!

Even Dr. Seuss
Wouldn’t be allowed in school today.

“Who sews Sue’s socks?
Sue sews Sue’s socks.
Who sees who sew Sue’s new socks now?
You see Sue sew Sue’s new socks now.”

You see between the blither blather
Dr. Seuss is really rather
Reckless to suggest
That Sue should sew,
albeit in jest.

In the same book he goes on to describe
A battle between bugs on a poodle’s hide!
How dare he entertain the thought
That war is something that should be wrought.

And while stacking blocks and bricks
The good Doctor callously refers to “chicks”
The whole thing is rather sexist
And the rhyming too tempting to resist.

Single Mothers Doing Quite Well NOW>>>>>

Sorry Mike, but the Single Mothers (not the "wayward women" that they used to be called) are doing quite well right now.

When one of these girls gets pregnant (and it is about as "accidental" as getting wet if you are outdoors in a thunderstorm) she goes to all of the possible fathers (and it could be a half dozen or more) and tells each that he is the father. She then tells him that if she names him as the father, the state will assign child support.

She knows about what she will get in an award but tells the guys (each of them) that the state would make them pay two/three times that and - scared - the guys accept her offer for a secret cash payment instead.

She then goes and cries to the feminists about the man who made her pregnant (maybe even raped her) and how she doesn't know who he was. The father is listed as "unknown" and she gets all kinds of public assistance.

So instead of getting, say, $400 a month - she is getting $400/month from the FIVE men she slept with (that is $2000/month or $22K/year) and also $360/month from the government (less the 10% for not naming the father). Her annual income thus becomes $28K and that is before her Section 8 apartment (where she only pays $108/month (30% of her official income) and then she gets FinAid for school and that is based on her having an annual income of $4K and not the actual $28K.

And then "the baby was sick" becomes the all-purpose excuse for everything from being too hung over to make an 9 AM class to having papers turned in on time.

Gotta love this scam. Why can't men get pregnant too????

MikeR
No, I meant Adams' column was meant to be humorous. As was my response to you. OK?

Mike, you don't seem to have any capacity for laughter and joy. Will you spend your entire life on these threads not enjoying obvious and successful attempts at humor?

I, unlike Will, was just playing with you. Relax. OK?

dr adams
as usual you have it all wrong. Society is made better when liberal policies demand special treatment and priviledge for all minorities and victim groups.

Society has long been intollerant of new ideas and lifestyle choices that define what makes minorities into victim groups.

Since we are defined by who we are why should someone have to suffer various forms of discrimination and prejudice merely because they exist outside the parameters of what the majority of society views as normal or acceptable.

Thus telling women and gays that they are not special is totally intollerant. It is long past time when society should be celebrating personal lifestyle choices of those who have been forced to become victims.

IN fact the time has come to grant free tuition and other benefits to those society has forced into victimhood.

Thus all women, blacks and glbt should be honored for who they are and given special dispensation and benfits to make up for past injustices.

Thanks to gaia the calif supreme court has had the wisdom to allow the glbt the right to marry. This is an important first step for minority/victim groups to find justice in a bigoted society.

Mike Adams for Zookeeper
Good post. I always like hearing about the intollerance from the party of "Tolerance and Diversity."

I'm offended = I'm a victim
Anyone notice how MikeR took personal offense at the "guns and religion" remark. This, in the midst of claiming Adams is a perpetual victim.

MikeR got insulted. MikeR is a victim.

Actually a good idea...
The notion of conservative adult volunteers gaining acceptance at universities and auditing the classes a pretty good idea.

Regaining some semblance of control over the education system should be a high priority for the conservative movement.

I believe that there are many parents who are getting sick of the whole public school/university PC thing.

Your Obedient Servant,

George Washington

mikescott
What are you talking about? I never mentioned that line nor have I ever been offended by anything on TH. Seriously, why don’t you try and make a point for once. If you disagree with what I wrote, then say why.

LMAO
"you see, I am an endangered species. I am a Christian, a Caucasian, a Conservative, and a Capitalist"

I just love seeing an extreme conservatives whine and wrap themselves in victimhood as Adams did here

take it easy MikeR
It's all fun if you just settle down.

The insufferably stupid LMAO hal:

So, it's laughable when you perceive the "extreme conservatives whine and wrap themselves in victimhood" but NOT when the limited leftists do it?

Well gee, insufferably stupid LMAO hal, why would it be do different?

Actually, no Conservative, not even Adams, is claiming "victim hood."

Conservatives just don't stand behind that. Victim hood is strictly a liberal thing.

Real McDogg post #6
I can see you're filling in for Loyal Democrat LOL

Get with the program, Pinto Man!

Liberals don't need to be tolerant, because they're right and everyone else is wrong.

Even better, being right means they get to dictate
what everyone else should do
(and say, and think,
and eat, and drink,
and how we spend our money, too).

PS to C_Miner: Bravo! Hats off and three rousing huzzahs!

Dallas
Excellent observation. Though these poor folks have had their lives ripped apart, as you said they are not going "Katrina" krazy.

Anne
“you see, I am an endangered species”

“find themselves in front of a disciplinary committee for violations of this or one of our many other speech codes.”

“female students are provided with a Women’s Resource Center. But male students are not provided with a Men’s Resource Center”

“Title IX is almost always used to destroy opportunities for some”

“a pro life group was recently denied official status by the school”

“they would eventually learn to tolerate ideas they don’t necessarily endorse”

Each of these statements is an example of victim hood which Adams sees and experiences. The first one is about Adams personally. Hal actually has a point this time. This is especially poignant because it is an axiom of conservatives that liberals promote victim hood. There are many opportunities on TH to read how conservatives are being victimized.

MikeR
Not to be insulting, but are you dim or are you just trying to garner attention? If you regularly read Adams' columns (and I know you do) you should know that Adams often uses this style to spotlight the absurdity of liberal beliefs, programs, and ideology.

I understand Hal's constant state of confusion, but I've read many of your comments on these pages and I find it extremely difficult to believe that you are really having this much difficulty understanding this article.

MikeR
Sounds like accurate reporting with a humorous twist. How old are you, MikeR?

Answer Dallas, you libs - if you dare!
Dallas:
Although it may seem to you that you went off on a tangent in posting your observation which was strictly speaking not related to Adams' column, as UncleB said, you've made an excellent observation. I can venture an answer real easily, but let's have a little fun with this.

Calling all liberals:
All right, all you liberals out there (starting with Hal Donahue): read Dallas' post of 8:17 am. And then try to answer his question: why don't we see the same kind of chaos in Iowa (looting, shooting at rescue teams, etc.) after the flooding there that ensued in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans? I dare you liberals to TRY to explain this dichotomy Dallas raised. Any of you have the cojones to do so? (I'm betting the answer is no).

icedog!
Please ignore MikeR! He offers only snippets ... sound bites!

I've worked with Mike Adams for nearly 20 years. That's not the Mike Adams I know!

If I thought Mike Adams talked like that, I'd of left years ago!

Dallas/Iowa flood.
I live just a few miles from the flood, and it affected my family. One son and his wife probably have lost their house as they only live about 3 blocks from the river. They don't know when if ever they will be allowed back in the house. My two daughters lost their place of employment.People only saw the devastating effects of the flood, and not all the people working day and night to save their property

Dallas
You're right. Saw an interview this morning with the ANG commander on the ground and the Red Cross rep..."Not one single case of looting."

....also didn't hear any locals claiming the government caused the flood.

These are things your Mama should teach you, but sadly most peoples' Mamas don't even seem to know these things anymore.

I might add a daycare centre to the Domestic Arts Building, at which all students in the Freshman class would be required to serve at least two consecutive hours a week, interacting directly with the babies and toddlers. This would, in this era of limited siblings per family, give them hands-on experience and bring them face to face with the reality of day to day baby-minding. Yes, a newborn is a cute kitten; but they grow up. And perhaps a girl who thinks she might love to have a baby will think again when the baby is two years old and thrashing and screaming "NONONONONONONO!" when said girl wants to wash its face for lunch.

Wow-quite a response..
I am a college grad with a master's degree and the "enlightenment" universities panhandle is highly overrated. I would rather encourage my child to learn a trade and the value of hard work any day, than subject her to "indoctrination" contrary to our Christian beliefs. Besides---trade guild trained folks make way more money in the marketplace and are in much higher demand that Liberal arts school elites who haven't learned anything but what they have heard baby-boomer hippie retirees pour into their minds as would-be "professors." Also, it is a worthwhile place for free Planned Parenthood services, smoking and drinking their brains out, so they have nothing left by the time they finally limp up the aisle in their cap and gown.....but a successfully career as an NA/AA life member. Give my child a trade school anyday, where she can learn her skill and get some business done, without the "philosophically, existentialist" BS they panhandle.

MikeR wrong about MikeA
Mike Adams is not making himself a victim. He is pointing out the hypocrisy of providing a Womens Resource Center and not a Mens Resource Center. He is demonstrating that free speech is not acceptable if your speech offends some protected victim group. Do you see the differece? Or are you suggesting that no one should ever point out hypocrisy or intoerance of free speech lest someone as dense as you seem to be accuse them of pulling the victim card? The job of a journalist is to expose hypocricy and intolerance wherever it exists. The diversity crowd thinks they are the "annoited" ones that can do no wrong. Therefore, no one should ever question their motives let alone their enforcement of stupid codes of acceptable conduct.
Let go of your "Mike is a victim" routine. It's really stupid.

icedog
No no, now try and consider. Mike offers satire as him means of communicating and he is fairly good at it. However, Mike always has a message. That is the essence of good satire. The message of this column is obvious and a common theme. However, it is my claim that Mike Adams does see himself as a victim. Furthermore, the idea of conservatives being victimized is gaining traction at TH.

So yes, Adams is spotlighting the absurdity of liberal beliefs, My question to you is how sincere is he about the statements I offered as examples. Is he just kidding or does he believe these things are true? If he is being sincere, he is describing himself and others as victims.

mikescott

I don’t have the honor of knowing Dr. Adams personally. I only know what he presents to us in his writing. I suspect that he doesn’t always portray his true self, but that doesn’t matter. I am not interested in character assassination. I am interested in people who use liberal tactics under the banner of conservatism.

Hey, if you’ve worked with Dr. Adams for nearly 20 years then you must have known him during his Mississippi State days. Were you the other member of his band? Did you make the move to North Carolina with him or join him later? I think hearing more of his liberal days would be interesting.

Superb!
Thanks Mike.

MikeR
Other than Adams' belief that he is "an endangered species” all the other statements you listed are facts. If you dispute his comments than present an opposing argument.

"Playing the victim" implies someone who uses false rationalization to justify their behavior or condition. Such as, "I haven't worked in eight years because the system is racist" - "I couldn't get into college because the tests are stacked against me" - "I've never been promoted because I tell it like it is".

Pointing out that only speech and groups a college agrees with are allowed (and often even glorified) is not "playing the victim".

gayle
Now I would never try and challenge the intellect of someone who thinks I’m being stupid and dense, but consider what I’ve actually wrote, not just the fact that I’m casting aspersions on Adams. My question to you is the same. When Dr. Adams wrote “Of course, I’ve never really imagined being in charge of the zoo because, you see, I am an endangered species. I am a Christian, a Caucasian, a Conservative, and a Capitalist.” Was he being sincere or just joking?

There is no hypocrisy of providing a Women’s Resource Center and not a Men’s Resource Center. The WRC is an outdated facility that was necessary at one time. Its continued use is not hypocrisy, its foolishness for some and money for others.

I am not suggesting that no one should ever point out hypocrisy or intolerance of free speech lest someone accuse them of pulling the victim card. I’m saying that when someone says they are being denied something or would have been denied something they are saying that they are being victimized.

As for hypocrisy, I say it’s hypocritical to do what you claim is bad in others. As always I urge you to tell me why you think I’m wrong in my reasoning

icedog
My initial post of 8:41 said “The column was ok, but honestly, how often can Adams claim to be a victim and still be considered a conservative?”

The column is ok. I don’t disagree with the point he is making. I am saying that Adams has once again claimed to be a victim. I agree with your definition of “playing the victim”. That’s what Adams is saying in that first example. Another part of playing the victim is saying that someone is undeservedly getting more than you. That’s what’s going on in Title IX. Adams is also employing that definition.

Actually, some people are being victimized. Now we have the even more difficult task of sifting out who is sincere and who is capitalizing on the situation. Adams sells books, writes articles and gives lectures. Any profit he makes in showing the problems of higher education does subject him to a greater scrutiny.

On the other hand, it has become a conservative virtue to never claim to be a victim, to struggle against even unfair obstacles. Perhaps one part or the other needs to be reconsidered.

Victimizing
The diffence in Dr. Adams claim is that he's not looking to gub'ment enforced benefits as a result of his "victimization."

And is it really victimization to point out that he's a minority, anyway?

MikeR
First, I don't think you are a dense person or a stupid person. I think you are being deliberately dense about MikeA pulling the victim card. I don't understand why you would take an article that was obviously intended to be humorous and make it into a serious personal failing of the author. I think it is rather stupid of you to waste your time to make a meaningless point about alledged victimhood.
That being said, yes, I think Mike was joking about his endangered species status because he is a Christian, a caucasion, a conservative and a Capitalist.
So, it is not hypocritical to provide a WRC and not at MRC since the WRC's continued use is foolishness for some and money for others. I feel so much better. Foolishness and money grubbing make hypocrisy look like sainthood in comparison.
Do you think if there were a MRC and not a WRC it would be considered unworthy of scrutiny and condemnation? No, the faculty and female students would ignore it without further ado, is that right Mike?

oops
"difference" not "diffence"

Guess I was being diffencive...
I'm a victim of a faulty spell checker! Obama save me!

Redhead has it right
I have been considering whether Mike Adams is prsenting himself as a victim and have been tempted to say, Yeah, so what. We are all victims of something at various times in our lives. But as you so wisely point out, most of us don't endeavor to reap government benefits, special set asides and considerations because of our status. Furthermore, most of us do not choose to make "victimhood" our entire idenity. What a burden! How utterly boring and self limiting. Mike Adams is none of those things.

Mike
I like him much better when he was an atheist. Now he is just plain crazy.

Answer Dallas, you libs - if you dare!
Dallas:
.....Calling all liberals:
All right, all you liberals out there (starting with Hal Donahue): read Dallas' post of 8:17 am....after the flooding there that ensued in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans? I dare you liberals to TRY to explain this dichotomy Dallas raised. Any of you have the cojones to do so? (I'm betting the answer is no). "
\

LMAO well kiddies you did well looking at victimhood now let us move to population density or people per mile. Lots of outside help versus little, thousands of people versus hundreds of thousands, on and on....
The bottomline: you folks lost a major US city. No US president ever did that and no US people ever accepted it - says a lot more about us than New Orleans. Wait a minute! Are we not the same folks saying torture is now ok???? Moral relativity thy name is conservative Republican

Gosh idiot!
Some of the idiots who post here wouldn't know satire if it smacked them in the head.

Satire:
1. the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc.
2. a literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and vice are held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule.

Apparently, you guys went to a public school that didn't teach the literary technique of satire (i.e. Chaucer, Jonathan Swift, Mark Twain, etc.)... heck, public schools didn't even teach half of you guys to read!

Dr. Adams - awesome column. Keep 'em coming!

good writing
any good satirist, or good writer for that matter does not need a constant flood of people attempting to tell us what he means, go through these threads and about halhf of them do just that. shouldnt be necessary

Hal,
Why do Mississippians, Alabamans, and Texans go about the business of rebuilding, while the residents of New Orleans cry for more and more federal dollars, and don't seem to accomplish much. New Orleans has received enough in Federal dollars to give each pre-Katrina resident $65-70,000 each. more than enough to begin rebuilding. How much more do they get?

I don't you see you crying over the midwest floods, the tornadoes or the Texas floods of last year. What gives?

"Criminal crackdown targeting Christians

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=67290

"When a Christian pastor in Canada wrote a commentary on the Bible's perspective on homosexuality, a government commission ordered him to renounce his faith and apologize. When a family owned photography studio in New Mexico refused, on religious grounds, to take pictures at a same-sex ceremony, the fine for such "discrimination" was $6,600. Now the experts say Colorado is joining in the repression of the practice of Christianity.

"Getting beyond the bathroom and locker room issue, the biggest danger this law poses is to the religious or moral consciences of small business owners who may object to doing business with people whose lifestyle they do not want to promote," Bruce Hausknecht, a spokesman with Focus on the Family, told WND about Colorado's new law, SB200."

ANY QUESTIONS???

Hal Donahue
All right, I'll at least give you credit for having cojones.

Of course, we all KNOW the reason for the difference in response to the floods between the people of Iowa and those of New Orleans: a difference in cultures. Crises reveal what's REALLY inside a person. Well, we sure saw what was really inside the people of Iowa vs. those of New Orleans, didn't we? The people of Iowa were helping each other in a time of crisis. I doubt much of that went on in New Orleans. And I didn't hear any reports of looting in Iowa or shooting at rescue craft - nor, as Icedog noted, have we heard any Iowans blaming the government for the flooding. Personally, I wasn't put off by the looting of foodstuffs from flooded stores in New Orleans: since those goods were going to be written off one way or another, anyway, I was willing to give New Orleans' folks a pass for taking whatever foodstuffs might still be viable. But to loot jewelry stores and electronics mercandise - in a city that had no electricity? Even you liberals can't defend THAT. New Orleans is a shining example of what kind of a people liberal principles produce - and what kind of an country you liberals would turn ALL of America into given the opportunity.

By the way, who are the "you folks" who "lost a major U.S. city"? If you mean conservatives: well, if Obama gets elected, I trust you liberals will be able to magically reverse the process of subsidence that's been going on in the lower Mississippi River delta for centuries - and also reverse or suspend all the other geologic and natural factors that make New Orleans a geologically untenable city. By the way, I understand that 30 years ago, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers had a plan to greatly strengthen the levees in New Orleans - but were stymied by the opposition of environmentalists. Don't seem to recall the MSM telling the American people about THAT.

Anne
Just one question; how does it feel to be a victim?

Actually I have some more. Do you remember yesterday when you wrote,

”Actually, no Conservative, not even Adams, is claiming "victim hood."

“Conservatives just don't stand behind that. Victim hood is strictly a liberal thing.”?

If you get a chance, I’d love to hear you rationalize that.

Also, I checked your source and while I agree that action taken by the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal is absolutely heinous, at no point did they order anyone to renounce their faith. That was either an error or a deliberate exaggeration on the part of Bob Unruh. You must remember that Canada like England, does not guarantee freedom of speech. I believe the United States is alone in our regard for freedom of speech.

Defending the freedom of speech is Dr. Adams’ strong suit. I prefer it to his more profitable business of telling us how whacky liberals are.

Poor Martyr Mikee
Martyr Mikee whines, as always:

" you see, I am an endangered species. I am a Christian, a Caucasian, a Conservative, and a Capitalist. "

Yeah yeah .... and as such, you've had many advantages over the REAL martyrs of history.... especially Blacks. Don't diminish their REAL suffering and REAL martyrdom by whining too much.

Reminds me of the endless whining "Martyrs" like poor Rush Limbaugh; poor Mikee Savage (Weiner the Whiner); poor Bobby Grant and countless other overpaid, overfed, under-worked public whiners. Not one of these precious 'personalities' has ever missed a meal, or had to do real work for low pay.

If I Ran The Zoo (Critique of HIgher Ed)
THE LIFE IN THE ZOO IN WHICH I WORK

I also work in a zoo -- and what a zoo it is!

In the zoo in which I work, the animals look very diverse, but they all make the same sound. Those who can not or will not sound alike face punishment -- ranging from isolation ( "you can't eat from the same trough anymore") and name-calling ( "you are obviously not an elephant, but a creepy snake") to being thrown out of the zoo by the zookeeper ( "I just don't like your kind of "). Since self-preservation is vital to endangered species, most animals try very hard to produce the required sound. Others have simply fallen silent.

If I ran the zoo, I'd encourage each animal to cultivate its own, unique sound. The more authentic the sound, the more praise I would lavish on the animal. The trough would be large enough to accommodate all the animals, no matter their size, shape, sound, or stripe. Attacking a zebra just because of its stripes would not be tolerated. I would not call it a hate crime though, only an inexcusable violation of my primary zoo code: the code of CIVILITY.

In the zoo in which I work, dark-skinned animals are preferred over light-skinned animals. Animals of the female gender and those exhibiting exotic sexual behavior enjoy automatic privileges as well.

If I ran the zoo, I would be colorblind, and equality for all animals would be the rule of law.

This is all for today about "The Life in the Zoo in Which I Work." Since I am not one of the zookeeper's privileged pets, have been expelled from the zoo before, and have been targeted for extinction, I will simply sign off with –

MR. VINCE
Mr. Vince:
"Yeah yeah .... and as such, you've [Mike Adams] had many advantages over the REAL martyrs of history.... especially Blacks. Don't diminish their REAL suffering and REAL martyrdom by whining too much."

Wow. While I whole-heartedly agree that Black people were treated inhumanely and despicably, I'd have to say that more people have been martyred due to being Christian, Caucasian, Conservative, or Capitalist (or combinations of those groups listed). Think of The Inquisition, Communist takeovers in the 1900s, men and women who (in various wars throughout the centuries) died to protect conservative principles and the capitalist way of life in America.

If you think only Blacks (or mainly Blacks) have suffered martyrdom then you are an outstanding product of a public education. I know most of the history classes these days gloss over the Prostestant Reformation and Communists Revolutions (the truth about 'em anyway) so a teacher doesn't offend a kid/parent. Gotta love being politically correct... it keeps the general American population with the IQ of a goldfish.

will/Will, you are nothing more than...
will/Will writes: Michael

Beautiful day.///NOT FOR LONG.\\\

Voice of Reason, Tis the Season..
... to not miss the point.

"I'd have to say that more people have been martyred due to being Christian, Caucasian, Conservative, or Capitalist (or combinations of those groups listed). "

You missed the point - The 4-some combo which Mikee Adams identifies with, is one which historically had privileges. Privileges denied to minorities.

Individually, Whites of all political stripes, all religions, have suffered in ages past. But my point was that Adams sets himself up as a modern day "martyr". He has essentially locked himself into a fake martyr's role which IN NO WAY parallels the true martyrdom of Blacks.

Mr. Vince, words I'll not mince...
Well, if I missed the point, you missed the column. Adams never attempted to parallel himself with "the true martyrdom of Blacks." I believe you mentioned that Adams was a martyr, not him. It seems that folks are missing the forest for the trees here.

The discrimination against Blacks included suppression of free speech, free press, right to assemble, right to vote, and much more. I argue that the discrimination is similar, just much less bloody and overt. Before you twist your knickers in a knot, let me explain. Black people started off with no rights in America, yet they fought for and ended up with equal rights (insert argument that true equality hasn't been achieved here).

Caucasian/Christian/Conservative/Capitalist (21 y/o men who owned property at least) started off with rights that they fought for. However, they (we) stopped fighting for their rights, so the rights have slowly (almost unnoticeably) slipped away. This group is systematically being denied the rights to free speech, free press, peaceful assembly, etc.

If you choose to sit back and ignore the reality of the discrimination and, dare I say, elimination of (though not physically)"the 4-C's", then welcome to the majority of America. Our rights are safe with the ACLU and the gov't, right?
