McCain Flies His Campaign Past Obama

Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

John McCain was trained as a fighter pilot. In his selection of Sarah Palin, and in his convention and campaigning since, he has shown that he learned an important lesson from his fighter pilot days: He has gotten inside Barack Obama's OODA loop.

That term was the invention of the great fighter pilot and military strategist John Boyd. It's an acronym for Observe, Orient, Decide, Act.

"The key to victory is operating at a faster tempo than the enemy," Boyd's biographer Robert Coram writes. "The key thing to understand about Boyd's version is not the mechanical cycle itself, but rather the need to execute the cycle in such a fashion as to get inside the mind and decision cycle of the adversary."

For a fighter pilot, that means honing in above and behind the adversary so you can shoot him out of the sky. For a political candidate, it means acting in such a way that the opponent's responses again and again reinforce the points you are trying to make and undermine his own position.

The Palin selection -- and her performance at the convention and on the stump -- seems to be having that effect. Obama chief strategist David Axelrod admitted of the Palin pick: "I can honestly say we weren't prepared for that. I mean, her name wasn't on anybody's list." But it was known that McCain's VP adviser had traveled to Alaska, and anyone clicking on youtube.com could see Palin's impressive performance in political debates. The McCain campaign shrewdly kept the information that she was on the short list and that she was the choice to a half-dozen people, who didn't tell even their spouses. The Obama team failed to Observe.

Then they failed to Orient. Palin, as her convention and subsequent appearances have shown, powerfully reinforces two McCain themes: She is a maverick who has taken on the leaders of her own party (as Obama never has in Chicago), and she has a record on energy of favoring drilling and exploiting American resources. Instead of undermining these themes, they dismissed the choice as an attempt to appeal to female Hillary Clinton supporters or to religious conservatives.

Then team Obama and its many backers in the media failed to Decide correctly, so when they Acted they got it wrong. Their attacks on Palin tended to ricochet and hit Obama. Is she inexperienced? Well, what has Obama ever run (besides his now floundering campaign)? Being a small-town mayor, as Palin said, is like being a community organizer, "except that you have actual responsibilities."

Is she neglecting her family? Well, how often has Obama tucked his daughters in lately? For more than a week we've seen the No. 1 person on the Democratic ticket argue that he's better prepared than the No. 2 person on the Republican ticket. That's not a winning argument even if you win it. As veteran California Democrat Willie Brown says, "The Republicans are now on offense, and Democrats are on defense."

Perhaps the Obama campaign strategists expected their many friends in the mainstream media to do their work for them. Certainly they tried. But their efforts have misfired, and the grenades they lobbed at Palin have ricocheted back and blown up in their faces. Voters are on to their game.

Pollster Scott Rasmussen finds that 68 percent believe "most reporters try to help the candidate they want to win" and that 51 percent -- more than support McCain -- believe the press is "trying to hurt" Sarah Palin. The press and the Democratic ticket are paying the price for decades of biased mainstream media coverage.

I am not the only one to notice that John McCain and Sarah Palin have gotten inside the Obama campaign's (and mainstream media's) OODA loop. Blogger Charlie Martin sprang into pixels on www.americanthinker.com before I could spring into print with this column. But as I write, Barack Obama is in his second daily news cycle of explaining why his "lipstick on a pig" comments are not a sexist attack on the hockey mom who compared herself to a pit bull with lipstick.

Robert Coram describes what can happen when one player gets inside another's OODA loop. "If someone truly understands how to create menace and uncertainty and mistrust, then how to exploit and magnify the presence of these disconcerting elements, the loop can be vicious, a terribly destructive force, virtually unstoppable in causing panic and confusion and -- Boyd's phrase is best -- 'unraveling the competition.' ... The most amazing aspect of the OODA loop is that the losing side rarely understands what happened."

John Boyd would have been a terrific political consultant.

It's working too!
So much for Obama's insistence that he had more executive experience than Sarah Palin because he ran his campaign.

Do the Democrats really want a "crash & burn" campaigner to be President?

McCain's strategy has been wildly successful. Wonder if they had any idea just how spectacular the Obama explosion would be?

McCain
McCain certainly did the right thing picking Sarah Palin as his VP. Go Sarah! But, McCain was not a fighter pilot. He would probably resent the label, although he might understand the error. He was an attack pilot. Big difference.

Won't bother to read any more of Barone's stuff. If he can't get right the facts I know something about, how could I trust him to get it right on things I know little about.

Camille Paglia
Camille Paglia has said that women need to study military history instead of women's studies, and I think there is the same correlation between Republicans and Democrats.

Republicans know how to fight war. With the exception of John Kerry, most Dem candidates have no military experience. That's to their detriment. They have not learned the basics of combat as many Repub candidates do.

Whether it be for chief of the Cabiyari tribe, or President of the United States, people generally choose the one who is not afraid to kill the enemy. And that's why Americans usually vote Republican for POTUS - because they know that he (or she) can fight an enemy.

McCain'
Maybe McCain is more a stategist than a mere tactitian. After all, both his father and grandfather were four-star admirals. At any rate, his choice of Governor Palin was swift and decisive, not unlike a move his father made against elements of the Japanese Navy in the battle of the Philippines Sea.

garryg24, question for you
You write:

He was shot down over Vietnam, while flying the A-4 Skyhawk

Is it wrong to call the A-4 a Fighter?
Just asking because many do call it a Fighter.
"US Navy A-4 Skyhawk Fighter"
http://www.defencetalk.com/pictures/showphoto.php/photo/330 29

I understand he was using it as an attack aircraft, but is it so wrong to call him a fighter pilot?

Just a question, does the Navy call his flight training Fighter School to fly the A-4?

I am just curious, not critical.

OODA-ing Obama!
Whatever works. Those editorships at Harvard don't prepare one for Action! Much less Decision-making.

Good to see that Barone isn't carrying any water for his choice.

Captain Jack?
In the second movie of the "Pirates" series a sailor makes a statement about Jack Sparrow that I have wondered about J. McCain.

The comment basically was, "do you think he plans things out or makes it up as he goes?"

Because of the devastating effect the selection of Sarah Palin has had on the B.O. campaign of fog and deception, I have recently been wondering just how long Sarah was on the "short" list.

Is McCain so adept at political craft that Sarah was high on the list all along, but he just wanted to see what B.O. did with the best choice, Hillary?

Was it always only between Romney, Libberman and Palin & questions of a half dozen or so others just subterfuge?

From what I have read recently, several folks have been suggesting Sarah Palin for quite a while. And the DimWits never suspected a thing. And, they still don't.

For decades v.p.'s have been laughed at for being funeral attendees and now all of a sudden the #1 pick of the DimWits is forced to spend his time running down the #2 pick of the G.O.P.

Is B. O. able to run the country because he has 2 daughters? Didn't both of the Roosevelts have 4 or 5 kids? They were both Presidents, did their jobs suffer or did their kids suffer?

Will Sarah have to take the kids with her when she attends funerals?

"Lipstick on a pig" should have elicited the great Churchillian response---"Yes, but in November, I'll be V.P. and you'll still be Mr. "57 states" "my muslim faith" "uh, er, uh" "present."

B.O. is more confused than the average lib and that is saying something. But he is such a great executive.

OODA Loop
We must stay in the LOOP!!!
Yes I agree McCain got in Obama's OODA Loop
and watching Obama grabbing at straws this past week, reminds me of this depiction of him singing "It's My Party"

"Sarah Palin The Dancing Queen & Obama sings It's My Party"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pW0vDp5WeK0

Great:
The media has really help Sarah Palin in her run for vice president. The media has been a** kissing Obama and America hate a a**kisser, so the people has been going to her rescue.

Re: garryg24...
Garry, you are so obviously a "democrat leaning independant", that you should not bother excusing yourself. The problem with elitists as yourself is, that you nit-pick at definitions, which are important for defense lawyers (democrats ardent supporters) and completely miss the greater picture.
Whether McCain was a fighter or attack pilot is completely irrelevant in the subject of OODA, Mr. Barone defined for all laypeople. I am glad you are taking a break from commenting on Mr. Barone's article. I for one, appreciate any and every analysis of what went right, regardless of the 100% accuracy of every word used.
Go John, go! Thank you Sarah!!!!!

Praise the Lord

And pass the ammunition, it is time to stand up for the American way of life.

Judgement
The real issue in this campaign is judgement. Obama's judgement has been terrible from his grand world tour with the press in tow (actually, the Europeans don't vote in our elections) to his rejection of Clinton in favor of Biden(18,000,000 votes to 2,000 votes).
McCains has been brilliant. Willie Brown summed it up the day after Sarah's speech.

Fighter Questions
"I understand he was using it as an attack aircraft, but is it so wrong to call him a fighter pilot?"

Douglas built 2,960 Skyhawks between 1954 and 1979. Built small to be cost effective and so that more could be accommodated on a carrier, the lightweight, high-speed bombers were affectionately nicknamed "Heinemann's Hot Rod" (after Douglas designer Ed Heinemann), the Bantam Bomber, Mighty Mite and Scooter. Skyhawks provided the U.S. Navy and Marines and friendly nations with maneuverable, yet powerful, attack bombers that had great altitude and range capabilities, plus an unusual flexibility in armament capacity. It was flown by the Blue Angels from 1973 to 1986. If John McCain were a contemporary Naval Aviator he would have flown the F/A-18.

I don't think dems can turn it around.
It is about eight weeks til election.

Everyone says that is an eternity.

But I don't think so.

It will be here before you know it.

McCain's choice of Palin will probably be seen as the most brilliant political decision in a generation or more.

And to think just a few months ago McCain was on the ropes...his campaign was out of money and he was letting people go.

Everything is working McCain's way.

I had feared McCain would try to keep Palin off limits to the media, but he didn't.

The Gibson interview revealed Palin to be quick on her feet in the face of what was obviously a hostile atmosphere.

I actually don't mind the media's "hostility", or attempts to demonstrate a candidate's unfamiliarity with an issue, as long as it is fair to all sides.

But obviously that is not the case.

Media is shameless in its adoration of Obama.

On Drudge today there is a piece on how the landscape for congressional republicans has improved so much in the last few weeks.

It may partially be attributible Palin, and how she has excited the political atmosphere, but some may also be due to the democrats in congress being so utterly wrong on the issue of domestic drilling.

I think that is hurting them alot.

And it should.

Regular People

It's time that regular people took America back from effete snobs like the MSM, Hollywood and communist in chief wannabees (Democrats)
It's time we voted out the rascals ensconced in Congress and started heading back towards plain old common sense.
Our kids are in dire need for discipline and a no nonsense curriculum with an unadulterated approach to history. Charter schools and vouchers would go a long way towards this.
Foreign Policy emanates mostly from our incompetent State Department and major overhaul is desperately needed there too.
We have regulated and taxed our formerly "Free Enterprise" to mediocrity and the chickens are coming home to roost with jobs moving first from "Progressive" states to not yet socialized ones and then overseas where the entrepreneurial environment is less hostile.
O'Reilly is looking out for O'Reilly and, lately, disgustingly populist or dumb when the issue is oil.

Barone finally
gets one right.

Right on

Right on brother, the anguish and gnashing of teeth is biblical in proportion.

Palin was a surprise to me, and even more of a surprise is her grass roots support. Its enough to have me pondering the possibility that the Reagan coalition is still out there. Palin may or may not go to DC with McCain at the head of the ticket, but she looks like a cinch if she were leading it. McCain/Steele in 2012? HooWheeee. Take that, you identity mushbrains.

Hay pistol
The reagan will always be with us.

Vic
Good morning. I don't have to go to work today, and the lawn can wait a while so maybe i'll see more of you and the regular troops. I notice Sarah has been the inspiration for quite a few new trolls. I would not have believed it possible, but the quality of their posts has fallen drastically. Instead of just one incoherent hysteric like mrbmrb, there seem to be 4 or 5 floating around. But Sarah has also brought several new feminine posters, the vast majority are supporters. She is going to have enormous and long lasting impact.

G.I.Joe
Reagan loved America and once into politics put America and Americans first. Few indeed are the politicos who carry this to the end. If Palin is another, and so far she looks like the type, she may be the educational bombshell that returns our politics to reality. I had thought only a disaster would do it. We may get the disaster anyway.

Hay Pistol
Maybe she is? I don't know. I will go for her. The Alaska National Guae, which she is the commander in chief has the 49th Missile Defense Battalion, a one of a kind unit that has been on active duty since that democrat hero Kim El Sung has exploded an atom bomb in North Korea.

Not only does my favorite baby cakes has executive experience, she has military experience to boot….!!!!!

Pistol
Good Morning

These are the left over astroturffers. The heavy traffic will be on the CK column about the interview.

Hey G.I. Joe!
Not only is she our favorite baby cakes, but, as you wisely point out, she's also The Arctic Fox. Let's just skip this election and make her our Empress for life!

Looks like Barack's chickens... are comin' home... to roost! (Please insert maniacal over-the-top deranged intonation here.)

Cut barone some slack
Most people see a guy strap a jet on and fly off a carrier and don't care whether it has an 'A" or an "F" in it's profile.
His point is well made, Mccain planned this like the military expert he is...he sucked them in and they fell for it, he out-flanked them with Sarah and they have no ammunition to fire back. She is clearly better qual'd as the VP candidate than bambi is for prez and people are waking up to that fact.
She has actual accomplishments where he has zero, his 1st decision was to pick biden and he picked wrong.
The man is a loser and the smart folks in this country will not back someone who lies and doesn't have the backbone to meet our enemies head on and defeat them utterly.
The dems are going down to a monumental defeat this Nov and I hope we can also defeat them in congress and get rid of the despicible reid and pelosi so that we can return this country to the framers vision.
I have watched my country going down the tubes because of these miserable libs for 50 years and I am sick of it.

I had a vision
When I heard the announcement of McCain's decision, I had a vision of a 7 to 2 or even 8 to 1 conservative Supreme Court by the time President Palin leaves office in 2016 or 2020. Democrats apparently share this vision. I feel, no I glory in their pain.

Another first
Hey Jerebaub (comment 19), how about Palin/Steele in 2012 or 2016?

Democrats began as the party of slavery. Republicans began as the party of liberation. Nothing has changed.

Are you crazy, steel is a black man, Palin is already making the democrats insane.

The Press Is Trying To Hurt Palin
"Pollster Scott Rasmussen finds that 68 percent believe "most reporters try to help the candidate they want to win" and that 51 percent -- more than support McCain -- believe the press is "trying to hurt" Sarah Palin. The press and the Democratic ticket are paying the price for decades of biased mainstream media coverage."

It's usually Hollywood that helps the GOP by talking trash before an election but I really think regular folks despise the national big city media more than a bunch of doofuses in Hollywood. I'd sure love to see a poll on media approval ratings right now.

The Loop?
Ok, I’m through trolling for intellectual mongoloid. I guess the democrats are back at the drawing board or cleaning out their britches.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Reality
As a senior, Senior adult who has had a lifetime of experience, as Americans we need to face the reality that Democrats basically want Uncle Sam to be their nanny and hold their hands, while Republicans want Uncle Sam to step aside and let us use our own ingenuity and hard work to achieve a good life! Great things have never been wrought by the government, but by those who use their brains to better life and help those who have a real need and cannot help themselves.

Nasty media
The Hollywood Types, the MSM, east and left coasters, and so called academia have been so nasty towards Governor Sarah Palin that I no longer believe anything they say, claim or postulate. I am sure that many of the folks feel the same way.

Obama was surprised!
"Surprise is an event that occurs in the enemy commander's mind." If McCain can create surprise and get inside the operation cycle of the Obama machine what will the Russians and Chinese do?

McCain Flies His Campaign Past Obama
Mr. Barone, you can be the first to stop calling Sen. McCain a "fighter pilot". He was not. He was an "Attack Pilot" and flew the Douglas A4 "Skyhawk" , a very small aircraft that was called the "Scooter". As far as I know, I was not either a fighter or attack pilot, they were really liked by the pilots that flew them.

Being an "Attack Pilot" is what he needs to be since he will have attack the both of "left" people who are going after him and Gov. Palin

Offensive flags
I note flags on every post. Some of them do not strike me as offensive, but I'm a conservative Republican. What do I know?

Paglia
is probably the only Liberal I like ('cause she is the only one with any brains and the only one with any integrity); indeed, I don't quite understand why she's a Liberal--I suspect it has to do with her opposition to Conservative takes on religion and sex.

At any rate, she's right--and our Sarah is the type who, if she has not already studied military history, will do so and will make a quick study of it.

WOOOOOOHOOOODA!

NEWSFLASH Obama declares Emergency

With 'Gas Prices' already at $8.00 a gallon in some states because of Hurricane Ike.

Obama is calling for 'Tire Gauges' to be shared by Democrat volunteers to other Democrats.

Obama is asking that all 'Tire Gauge' manufacturers work around the clock to help Americans meet this emergency.

Obama stated we must be 'Smart' in meeting this crisis and is demanding President Bush to release all emergency stockpiles of 'Tire Gauges'.

Obama declared that only Democrats foresaw this emergency and begged people to buy 'Tire Gauges'.

Obama is blaming Republicans for NOT passing a law requiring all citizens to buy 'Tire Gauges'.

Obama believes that if he was president this gas shortage would have been avoided because he would have 'Mandated' that everyone buy a 'Tire Gauge'.

Obama 'Hope' and 'Change' is for better 'Tire Gauges'

Congress vs Sarah Palin
According to the democratic congress, Jesus was a community organizer, as was St Barack Of Obama, while Pontius Pilate was a governor, as is Sarah Palin. Yeah, but did Pontius Pilate wear lipstick? That's the question.

And further more....
.
Four years of Obamaman would be four too many..

The USA has enough problems without being saddled up for this clown, this phony American.. this idiot who would be king, a king with no clothes.. Ergh.. Is it possible the MSM could make this dunce, king material... Phony, phony and worse than phony, a socialist nightmare with NO loyalty to anything faintly resmbling an American reality.

Pontius Pilate's Indecision
The BOGUS comparison of Pontius Pilate and The Governor of Alaska doesn't hold an ounce of grog, because Pilate was afraid to make a decision and left it up to the angry mob to crucify Christ. Atleast the Alaskan Governor HAS SHOWN she can take a stance and make tough decisions that may go against old fashioned corrupt political systems!

who's winning?
It is quite interesting to watch this campaign now. I can’t begin to get interested in football because of the daily events of the presidential election. As I see it, McClain/Palin have been scoring big time now and are ahead by a whopping margin. Obama/Biden? They don’t have a clue as to how to respond. Yea team McClain/Palin. Fight, fight, fight!

More of Obama's Nonsense
A recent insulting ad slaming McCain about computer usage is insensitive, to say the least. Did the DNC hacks ever consider McCain's physical injuries he sustained when he was beaten to a pulp at the Hanoi Hilton could be a factor? You cannot tell me a trained fighter pilot flying beyond mach one making split second congnitive decisions doesn't have the aptitude for basic computer skills. That's lame, Obama....you can do better than that!

McCain's Complex Fighter Jet
I would submit to the DNC hacks the A-4 McCain flew is far more complicated than some basic generic PC, even back in the 1960s. Hey, not everyone has the ability to fly a supersonic jet! Barry Obama's appoval of these stupid and insulting messages shows his "change" is really old fashioned mud-slinging, at best. Stick to the issues...and stop with the Stalinist Scorched earth destructive stuff, OK?

Hi Retired Geek (post #40)
In addition to gas guages, Barry said we should tune up our cars.

Does this mean we will soon get "national tune-up insurance"?

Or would that be Federally Insured Extended Warranty (FIEW)?

No- I got it! I got it!

Campaign Maneuvers
The McCain campaign is doing the OODA Loop. The Obama campaign is stuck in a Fruit Loop. But he's working hard to keep the rotten apple of his six.

Obama's Ignorance about UN
While the democrats and media keep on attacking Palin's foreign policy depth, the Conservative should bring Obama's ignorance on UN again and again: He didn't even know Russia has VETO power at UN!!

Besides, Obama's core plan ( he doesn't talk about it anymore) is to increase American citizens' tax and give it to UN, so UN can "re-distribute" to the poor African countries. -- This is straight coming out of Obama's Identity Crisis complex. No doubt he had a very confounding childhood, but it seems that he finally IDENTIFIED to his father's side to be an Pan-African advocate.

Fighters
Whatever else can be said of them, both McCain (whom I don't like) and Palin (whom I do enthusiastically like and support) know how to fight, and they both have military experience, McCain as a pilot and Palin as commander-in-chief of the Alaska National Guard and the Alaska Defense Force.

On the other side, you have two wimps who have zero, zip, ningun, military experience, and who have likely never even fired a BB gun in their lives. (Chuckle of the day: Biden claims he couldn't serve in the military because of juvenile asthma, but asthma didn't stop Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery in Iraq.)

What a match! It's high noon in Dodge City and there's gonna be a shootout between two competent gunslingers and two woos girly-men.

"Subject: Congress vs Sarah Palin
According to the democratic congress, Jesus was a community organizer, as was St Barack Of Obama, while Pontius Pilate was a governor, as is Sarah Palin. Yeah, but did Pontius Pilate wear lipstick? That's the question."

Your comment is beyond laughable. You are saying that Barack is Jesus??? Your party does not even believe in God. So apparently you are saying that Obama is similar to somone that your party believes does not even exist in reality.

Jesus was FAR MORE than a community organizer! How many blind people has Obama healed? How many crippled people have been instantly healed because of Obama? Is Obama capable of turning a couple of fish and seven loaves of bread into enough food to feed a multitude of people? Well, Obama certainly has not done it yet and it is because he can not.

Besides, using your logic and the way Bill Clinton molested women and the way terrorists molest women, then it must mean that Bill Clinton is an Arab terrorist.

Jesus a community organizer?
Nay, nay. The "community organizer" at Jesus' "trial" was Barrabas--the murderer and leader of a revolt against the Romans, who was freed to live while Jesus was condemned to crucifixion.

Mentioning Jesus and Obama in the same sentence borders on blasphemy. If Obama is to be compared to any Biblical character, perhaps the Antichrist is more apt.

Demo/lib/marxists need to learn a bit about history...

retired geek
great job on the tire gauge satire.

COMMUNITY ORGANIZER
A TN. congressman said: "Jesus was a community organizer; Pontius Pilate was a governor."

Guess he forgot that Pontius Pilate voted: "Present!"

Thank God for John McCain!

G.I.Joe
You say 49th Missile Defense Battalion? Brings back long ago. I was computer maintenance for C Battery, 1st
Guided Missile Battalion, stationed at Irwin, Pa in the 50's. Now there was some good duty. Passes to the Stee'wers and Pirates at Forbes field, and a GI couldn't drink the free beers if he walked into a bar in uniform. Pittsburgh is one great city.

Obama
Obama has been, as always will be, all sizzle and no steak. Now the sizzle is fizzling!

Fighter pilot
I just wish that someone/anyone in the media would get what John McCain flew right. He was an ATTACK pilot not a fighter pilot. Both types do practise many of the same things but there is a distinct difference. MY husband and John McCain were ATTACK pilots. When they were flying in Vietnam there was a big difference. The OODA principle works of course and both know what it is and how to apply it. But when John McCain and my husband were flying, it was mostly attacking people and installations and avoiding getting shot out of the sky. Their type of flying was very dangerous because they always met the enemy. Figher pilots did not meet the enemy every time, but when they did it was usually life and death. Attack pilots met the enemy every time; so it was life and death every time.

talent scout/Aniko
The A-4, a totally sub-sonic aircraft, is never correctly called a fighter. Fighters, by definition, shoot down other aircraft. The A-4, certainly the A-4's that McCain flew, were ground attack aircraft not equipped for air-to-air combat. The website picture referred to clearly shows a "VA" near it's tail. "VA" refers to the attack (not "VF" - fighter) mission of the squadron the aircraft was assigned to, in spite of the use of "Fighter" in the designation.

I have nothing but respect for McCain, a schoolmate, and his VP choice. Within the community of Naval Aviators, of which I'm a member, pride in one's mission is important and leads to a desire not to be mis-classified.

I'm about as republican as they come, by the way. Wouldn't vote for Obama/Biden, a couple of true phonies, if they were the last people on earth. Just want the commentators to show proper respect for accuracy and resumes. Go John! Go Sarah!

America
I am a PROUD AMERICAN. I am also an African American and I totally agree that the Dems are/have always been for slavery and keeping the poor/middle class down. The Reps have always been throughout history for liberation and for everyone having a piece of the American Dream. The very fact that McCain picked Sarah shows wisdom and initiative. If you look at all of the times that the dems have been in office and contolled congress, there has always been problems with the economy etc. I was 10 when Regan was in office and thought that he was a great Pres. then. I am all for the voucher system for education, our children need QUALITY education and DISCIPLINE. There is nothing wrong with discipline and structure and our children not only need it, but are literally crying out for it.

Emergency Crew Present
The Dems have sent out their emergency crews in the last few days. The natives are getting restless as Barry-O's numbers go down. He has the entire news media and the 'entertainment' cabal in his hip pocket and it is not nearly enough.

His fawning followers' criticism and lies are overkill. It is causing a giant backlash which is turning people off. They see the unfairness of such slander. Most people just want the truth and not mud-slinging.

America Black american hurrah
Glad to see a committed black American. I am white and have many black friends. Most of them are for Obama and consider him the Messiah. THey call him a real Blessing. Boy are they going to get the surprise of their live if he gets on as President.
Was not excited about McCain before he chose Palin. Since then I have been beside my self. A real woman who is not afraid to speak her piece. McCain will do his best for White and Black America unlike Obama would do. He showed his true colors staying in Wrights Church for 20 years. Obama is an empty suit. Since Palin got selected it looks like all the air has gone out of him. If he had picked Hillary he would have won hands down. His pride kept him from asking her. Pride goeth before a fall.
My vote in Nov will be McCain/Palin.

Sarah Palin
Go Sarah!

On my blog, 9/5/08, Pilot McCain.
http://vonryansexpress.blogtownhall.com/2008/09/05/before_p ow,_a_naval_aviator.html

Before POW, a Naval Aviator

There is so much discussion in forming a base line on Sen. McCain, of his conduct as a POW that often the pilot is overlooked for the POW.

John McCain's selection of Gov. Palin is the sure hand of a trained risk-taker. One that can see over the horizon as he comes in "unannounced and unexpected."

We cannot assess this man without always thinking that this is one that has trained, been in explosions, crashed and then gotten back into another cockpit. He is first and foremost a naval aviator.

For the election, the Democrats anticipated an opponent that they would link to George Bush like a helix. They might have, had they some sincere knowledge of military arts predicted that Sen. McCain would fly a course that did not vector back to the current occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

The antic Greek counsel, "Know thy enemy" is apparently as foreign to the Obama camp and Democrat leadership as their understanding of small town America and military culture.

Obama's last attack
on John McCain is an ad that makes fun of him by saying he can't use a computer.
He can't use one because of his torture. He can't type, comb his hair, or tie his shoe laces.
You keep going Obama.

McCain/Palin 08

Thanks for the answer garryg24
Now I understand much better with your explanation.

I like to get a question answered by someone who knows the answer, and you filled the bill.

Thanks

I was not going to vote for McCain and him choosing Sarah changed it for me.
His immigration stand still worries me

for garryg24
garryg24 claims: "The A-4, a totally sub-sonic aircraft, is never correctly called a fighter. Fighters, by definition, shoot down other aircraft."

Not quite accurate.

The A-4 is agile, comparable to some of the 1960s Soviet fighters like the MiG-17. (Remember that many MiG aircraft were designed as interceptors for shooting down U.S. bombers, not for air superiority.) The A-4 stands in for the MiG-17 in training U.S. fighter pilots in dogfighting (and was featured in the movie "Top Gun" in that role).

The A-4 was built with the capability to carry air-to-air Sidewinder missiles. It has been credited with a couple of air-to-air kills with Zuni missiles.

It's a joy to see
and read the excitement here.
Just think even a few weeks ago TH'ers were still producing McLame and McShame diatribes, and it looked as the GOP had bit the dust.
What a change a few days can bring.
The MSM is beside itself and prob. burying itself for good and all.
The Reps. now have candidates and pres. nominee promoting the same ideas and gaining traction across the country.
As if programed, the Dems. went round the bend over Palin and established her bonafides without the Reps. even having to spend any campaign money as all the negatives attacks provided more PR than any ad campaign could ever muster.
All for one and one for all!! Now for the finish line.

Folks, you'll love this!

Go Sarah Go!!!
the demoncrats are squirming like a pit of snakes and Sen. John McCain is our Indiana Jones.

Sen. John McCain is brilliant for picking such an energenic force like Gov. Sarah Palin.

Like Dennis Miller says: she's gotten into his melon he can't get her out.

Now the demoncrats are sending satans minions up north to get the dirt on her or make up some dirt whatever suits them to achieve the obama stardom that will illuminate the skies that no GOD could create.

As President John S. McCain takes his oath office on january 21st we can breathe a sigh of relief that America woke up and defeated those GOD hating, baby killing, euro-loving wanna-be's that seek to destroy true America values.

AliveInHim
Very funny....I received this in an E-Mail this week. Loved the Teddy Toast!!!

what was gibson thinking?
charlie (brown) gibson is in the tank for obama that is truely apparent from his interview with our great Gov. Sarah.

how dare he look down thru his nose at the next VP of these great Unites States.

hey charlie brown, maybe you'd be better off in iran with osama and obama once this election ends and America elects a true American hero Sen. John S. McCain.

Boyd's tactics are McCain's..
Boyd developed his OODA concept observing and fighting Migs. There he realized that the Soviet "volunteers" they were facing would not act on their own, but flew and fought based upon what their ground control ordered.Their radio communications to ground controllers gave them away. That is Soviet/now Russian doctrine. American fighter jocks flew as teams, but improvised according to conditions and capitalized on their superior training and initiative.
There's a correlation between the Mig pilots and Obama: He gets his orders from his "ground control"(Axelrod) and is easy to disorientate because what he does must be choreographed first by his controllers. If events don't shape themselves to expectations, the Obama control team is thrown for a loss, possibly what's known in aviation parlance as a "Graveyard Spiral."
McCain flies the OODA in all that he does. He flies without constantly reporting his position to controllers. He is not flustered about making a decision, Obama can't make an important decision. It's a matter of true confidence, not phony demeanor. McCain is confident in himself, he's tenacious and dependable. He frustrates people who need vast lines of communication to reinforce their decisions. That's why the frustrated ones call McCain a maverick. They wish they had the same capacity.

AliveInHim's uproariously funny post
That was an absolute riot!

There was something missing--Could the ACLU be providing free child care for all who attended? The curriculum for the 0-12 year olds was described as, "protected speech."

THE TRUTH WILL RISE.
WE ARE GETTING CLOSER TO NOV. 4TH AND IT WILL BE KNOWN THAT MR MCCAIN/PALIN WILL BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT. IT IS GOING TO BE A SUPRISE THAT OBAMA TAUGHT HE WAS GOING TO WIN AND A LADY NAMED SARA WOULD KNOCK HIM OFF HIS HI HORSE. WHAT THIS IS TRULY TELLING US, IS THAT A LADY OF TRUE INTEGRITY AND BELIEF IN GOD HAS BEEN ABLE TO DISSOLVE ALL THAT OBAMA STANDS FOR AND THAT IS NOTHING. IN OTHER WORDS THERE IS NOT MUCH BEHIND OBAMA TO FALL SO FAST OFF HIS HI HORSE. GREAT WORK MR MCCAIN AND LADY PALIN. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH AND THE U.S.A. LOUIS

Re: Tim-PA
You write like you know McCain's service record. Let's have some official references, not scuttle-butt. I know flying and training accidents and flame-outs happen. Of course, you probably think you're too damned perfect for that to happen should you fly a jet.
As for the man being shot down over Hanoi, it was a given in those raids that someone wasn't returning to his carrier or landing strip. His number was up. The antiaircraft defenses near and over Hanoi were about the heaviest the world had seen at that time.
Being shot down by a SAM is no reflection on the man's efficiency against the enemy. He flew right into the teeth of Hanoi's air defenses to deliver his bomb load on target. When McCain was brought into the Hanoi Hilton, many fine pilots already had preceded him there as POW's. The very reason he declined an early release from Hanoi. Others were first, in McCain's sense of values.
Seems to me that you're being a smartassed gossip, only too smugly satisfied to take your worst shots at men who paid a heavy price for their country. You should be ashamed of yourself. I say "should be," because obviously you're too damned pompous to know you're a jerk.

for LOUIS
Obama could still win. We haven't seen the last of the Obama "dirty tricks" machine, McCain could make a huge gaffe in the debates, etc.

But whatever happens on Election Day, Sarah Palin has a bright future in the GOP. She's shown the way for the GOP to come back.

Obama and Rules for Radicals
Barry and Co. wouldn't know how to apply military tactics to a Boy Scout gathering.

But alas, they DO know RULES for Radicals and will ruthlessly apply what they DO know. Saul Alinsky wrote Rules for Radicals, he is one of Barry's heros. Here is more info on Alinsky...

community antagonizer...
Al Sharpton is a community organizer.

b. hussein was a community organizer.

Jesus was a carpenter.

And, he never needed a tele-prompter.

Palin/Jindal '12

Wishful thinking Barone...
I just can't believe most people in this country want McCain for president, especially after Bush. He's got two things against him - he's a jerk and he's a Republican.

BODGI - BARACK OBAMA DON'T GET IT!
Michael...Taking those pilot terms was a fantastic analogy of exactly what President Elect McCain is doing. He is running a great campaign to get America back on track!

The left likes to say he picked Gov Palin because she was a woman and he wanted the vote of women. Of course, he wants the vote of all women and all men, but that is not why he picked her.

After careful vetting, he picked the candidate most in line with himself and his policies. He always said that was what he was going to do...and he did! She was, and is, the perfect pick. She is just like us...downhome...hard working...successful...not afraid of a challenge...she is the all American dream and they created the all American dream ticket.

They have my vote in November, and I look forward to their first term in office beginning in January 2009!

TO JBIRD AND ALL OTHERS...
JESUS WAS/IS NOT A CARPENTER OR COMMUNITY ORGANIZER OR ANYTHING OTHER!

FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND LIVE IN THE JUDEO/CHRISTIAN WORLD, THE FIRST THING YOU WILL LEARN IN THE SCRIPTURES IS THAT JESUS CHRIST...IS THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD!

YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK OF ETERNITY AND DEPOSIT IT...YOU WILL GET A WEALTH OF RETURN WHEN YOU DO!

Fighter, Attack plane...so what?
Our Navy finally got the designation right, now they call them F/A (fighter-attack) Actually, all carrier based US Navy planes, other than utility or radar comm. aircraft can double as fighter or attack plane. Once upon a time, such planes were called "pursuit planes." The A-4 was very capable of dogfighting, it was subsonic and dogfights (furballs) aren't fought at Mach.1 or 2. So it could aquit itself well. It gets down to highly trained airmen, and Navy aviators are that.
Fighting at stand-off distances is left to planes firing air to air missiles even before they're seen. This wasn't the A-4's forte. The Israelis used their Skyhawks as fighter-bombers and many's the time when they engaged Arab Migs and prevailed over them. While subsonic, the A-4 was capable of quick acceleration and nimble maneuverability, essentials in dogfighting. Naval aviators loved the plane, so did the Israelis...it was a performer. If a SAM the size of a telephone pole homes in on any plane, it's going down. But, the A-4's quickness was a help in evading at times.
Air combat is not a passive profession. The men who fly from carriers deserve all the credit we can give them. Landing on a carrier at daytime is tough enough, let alone landing at night.
Think about all the elements they must be aware of even flying home to find a pitching landing deck that looks about as big as a postage stamp from a few miles out. And, in the dark you don't even see the postage stamp, you're on instruments.

SNAFU (reply 55)
My asthma did not prevent me from joining the USN. I probably could have pushed the issue and gotten a 4F, but if I had done something like that, I reckon I'd have to be a democrat today.

Biden is a loser. I'll never forget the night the late Col. David Hackworth took him apart and handed him his head on H&C. It was a beautiful thing to behold.
