Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

Some things in life are quite simple. Here’s one of them: Sen. John McCain is going to be our next president.

How do I know?

For starters, McCain will have a unified Republican party -- conservatives and all -- working hard for him. He’s also going to win over the Reagan Democrats, the Bush Democrats, and the Perot independents. These folks demand a strong military, want government off their backs, and are sick and tired of growing federal deficits and out-of-control spending. McCain’s their man.

If you recall, it was the cross-over Democrats and independents who helped elect Ronald Reagan twice and put Papa Bush in office for what was expected to be a Reagan third-term. When Papa Bush waffled, they went to Perot. But they came back to support the Gingrich Congress and later stayed with George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004. In 2006 they walked away again, penalizing a GOP Congress that embraced heavy spending and corrupt earmarks. But now they’ll come back. McCain is tailor-made for this group.

Just think of McCain in a debate versus Hillary or Obama. Remember McCain’s zinger about Hillary’s $1,000,000 earmark for a Woodstock Hall of Fame museum? He said he didn’t know much about Woodstock because he was “tied up at the time.” It was a killer line and we’ll hear it again.

McCain is also good news for business and the stock market. He wants to cut the corporate tax and keep dividend and cap-gains tax rates low. He’s tough as nails on restraining government spending and blowing up earmarks. On top of all this, he’s a very strong free trader who knows America can compete with the rest of the world.

Stock market fears about a new wave of tax hikes should be put aside. It ain’t gonna happen after McCain is sworn in. Neither will protectionism. So far as I can tell, high taxes and diminished free trade are the biggest worries for business and stocks. Investors can cast their fears aside.

This also happens to be a good time for the GOP to nominate someone who served bravely and courageously in the military. McCain is much more than a POW who somehow survived the Hanoi Hilton. He is a true military man. It flows through his veins, posing a whopper of a problem for Hillary or Obama. Guaranteed, there will be no chicken-hawk taunts.

And let’s not forget that military leaders who know all about war, security, and defense are exactly the people who cherish peace the most. When John McCain talks about the global terror war and how to deal with it, and how to protect this country, and how to move toward peace, voters will listen. So will folks around the world. This is all part of McCain’s character.

A short while back, I heard former Bush chief of staff Andy Card give an engaging talk at an Awakening conference in Sea Island Georgia. Card asked: What’s the most important character trait for a successful president? And he answered: The courage to be lonely. In other words, the guts to make tough decisions. Not poll-driven, politically driven, or selfish decisions, but decisions made on the basis of what is right and what is wrong and what is best for America.

McCain is no flip-flopper. Just think about his stance against ethanol subsidies in Iowa and federal hurricane insurance in Florida. (And Florida’s Gov. Crist still supported him!) Think of his duty-honor-loyalty persona, to borrow from my friend Kim Strassel of the Wall Street Journal. Duty-honor-loyalty is part of the American military code of conduct. In this most important sense, McCain is a profoundly conservative man. When he makes a promise, he keeps it.

And don’t forget his resiliency, consistency, and backbone. Here was a man moving around the country, without money and resources. He remained resolute on winning in Iraq, on the surge, and on the need to prevail abroad if we are to remain safe at home. Democrats were talking defeat. Republicans were hardly talking at all. But McCain soldiered on. Armed with courage, strength, and character, he kept his eyes on the prize. This may be the greatest political comeback in presidential history.

One of the troubles with American politics nowadays is that we don’t appreciate our military men and women enough. We don’t value their intelligence, their fitness, or their values. There was a time in American history -- especially in the 19th century -- when we held the military in great esteem. George Washington, of course, was one of our bravest generals, blessed with uncommon character and strength. Well, John McCain is a descendant of George Washington, and is a foot solder in his army. America yearns for exactly that kind of foot soldier. That’s why he’s gonna win.

God Help us all.
McCain will "normalize" the illegals, give them medical care and Socialist Insecurity and leave the borders open. Our Country is doomed.

We are witnessing the death of the United States and there is not a damn thing we can do about it.

This column was a joke, right?
All Kudlow cares about is MONEY. McCain has been least grating to that leg of the Republican stool -- but even with them, he has problems. He didn't want to extend the Bush tax cuts because they "favored the rich". Doesn't sound like a Republican to ME.

Anyway, this has to be one of the stupidest predictions ever made.

What McCain has going for him
McCain has two things going for him:
1. Hillary & 2. Obama
As bad he is, they are far, far worse.
The thought of either of them in the White House is too freightening to contemplate.

fear it's self
Put lipstick this pig? Just as if we have not been bit too many times.
McCain him self says that he is an Economic illiterate.
I am afraid that no matter who wins our country will looking like "Atlas Shrugged"
It is hard to make a silk purse from this sow’s ear.

McCain captured Americans' imagination
and that must give us each pause.

Excellent article.

I read it different

Kudlow writes:

ts:
McCain will lose to Hilliary.

Hold on to your seats, Hilliary has been annoited by the powers behind the powers that be.

The manipulation of the GOP is in play.

The GOP promotes the right men to divide republicans, get them arguing over their candidate, whose flaws are seen by all.

Designed capitulation due to the known divisions the ones running would generate.

Pessimistic?
Yes
I have no reason to have faith in our election system of today.

Nor any of the men the GOP selects.
Same lack of faith I have had for the Democrats for years.

Ron Paul is the only one left I will vote for.

Not worth the read--
I saw no mention of illegal immagration and its effects on our country or of the job outsourcing,
or of the falling dollar and on it goes. This to me was typical larry drivel..

Fred Thompson trying to stop huckabee
Grumpy sleepy old fred thompson is now sticking his nose in the race after the voters rejected him and he has endorsed John McCain to spite Mike Huckabee in hopes of stopping Mike Huckabee who is surging to the whitehouse.

here's what Thompson said:

--------------------------------------------
"Through his character and determination, John McCain has effectively beaten the field in the primary. It is time for Republicans to acknowledge the fact that, in Senator McCain we have a man who can win in November at a time that odds will be against us," Thompson said in a statement.
-----------------------------------------

This is very unfair to Governor Huckabee, who defeated grumpy old sleepy fair and square.
I used to think Thompson at least had integrity-even if he wasnt too bright.

Principles are more inportant than money
I'm tired of hearing that McCain would be better for the economy than say someone like Mike Huckabee. Those same economists said that the flow of illegal immigrants was also good for the economy even though they pull out more in social services than they put in with the few taxes they pay. Give me a break. It's better to do the right thing even when it hurts than to do what is expedient, because while it may not hurt now, it may kill us in the long run.

Lawrence Kudlow is high on something
"For starters, McCain will have a unified Republican party -- conservatives and all -- working hard for him. He’s also going to win over the Reagan Democrats, the Bush Democrats, and the Perot independents. These folks demand a strong military, want government off their backs, and are sick and tired of growing federal deficits and out-of-control spending. McCain’s their man."

What are you smoking dude?

I'm Sick of the POW Card
How much more is McCain going to milk the POW thing? Doddering old McCain is going to lose in November because conservatives are not going to vote for him. Holding ones nose will not help. I don't want to see the smiling professor Juan Hernandez in and out of the oval office.

Kudlow: Lay off the drugs. You know what I mean.

Forget the elections, elect McCain now
When Hillary announced she was running for President, we heard the same thing from supporters of Hillary. Now, with McCain it's better to go along and tell everyone McCain is uniting the Conservatives, and he will be the next President. True as it may sound. Conservatives are still not going to roll over and lay silent because they don't want to be labled as critics of McCain. McCain's critics didn't just pop up overnight. We know full well where McCain's supporters come from. McCain has said he will seek the votes from those outside of his party. Good old McCain, sidestepping his own party to get the needed votes for the Presidency. It's true McCain has united, but it's not the Conservatives he's uniting. It's the moderates, the uninformed independents, the media, and the weak Democrats. A pretty good proof of uniting, especially when McCain could care less about the Conservative vote. It's the liberal wing of the Republican party who's attacking the critics of McCain, and McCain's appeal only confirms the liberal wing and it's supporters.

Hazzar for maverick!
:)

Time for a spanking Kudlow
So after ignoring Conservative's concerns in both domestic a foreign policy issues, you simply expect them to vote the way you want eh Kudlow?

And the Reagan democrats, who you have alienated over the last 4 year with your drivel, you think they will put up with this as well -- is that right?

Unfortunately, the Republican Party has become infested with children like Kudlow. And these kind of children only seem to respond to a good spanking -- in this case an electoral defeat.

Conservatives have already begun the process of trying to reclaim the House and Senate in 2010 -- with real Conservatives, not Kudlowian hacks.

This election year is a waste.

Thompson was right about Huckabee
He is a liberal in moderates clothing. Plus, He is corrupt. Of all the candidates running for President, Obama, Hillary and Huckabee made Judicial Watch top ten list of corrupt politicians. It is a non profit, non partisan site.
http://www.judicialwatch.org/judicial-watch-announces-list- washington-s-ten-most-wanted-corrupt-politicians-2007

Thank God for Fred calling it as it was or we really could have four more years of Arkansas corruption in the White House.

10 Reasons NOT to support McPain
1. He's not a conservative. His 2006 ACU rating was 65.

2. The GOP is already left of Lenin. We don't want the GOP moving further left. Any further, and the GOP HQ will be in Moscow.

3. He believes borders should exist only in the abstract, or possibly between his left and right brain.

4. He's spent his entire life in gov't service, and still doesn't understand Economics. We don't want any slow-learners leading the free world.

5. He's on the verge of insanity. One or two more times of saying "I'm a War Hero" will put him over the edge.

6. Mexican operative Juan Hernandez is working for McCain, which is to say, he's working for Mexico.

7. Liberals attract liberals. Or more aptly: Crap attracts flies. He's been endorsed by the NY Times, LA times, etc.....the list is LONG!

8. His best drinking buddy is Ted Kennedy.

9. He's about ready to trade his current wife in for a MUCH younger model. So young in fact, that his new bride will require a dedicated day-care facility in the White House (would that be an earmark?).

10. His idea of "free speech" is a one-sided conversation, i.e., "calm down," which translates into: "Shut up and take the McPain!"

My Dear Mr. Kudlow
What were you smoking when you wrote this article?

First of all, Obama will be our next president. I don't like it, I'm just a really smart guy.

Secondly, conservatives will NOT come out and vote for McCain. Hardcore Republican party types may, but the real true conservatives know the real John McCain and don't want to have anything to do with him.

I, and many like me, would much rather have a Dem in the WH screwing things up for the next 4 years and getting the blame, than have a p__s poor Republican do it.

We real conservatives do not care about winning this battle, we want to win the war!

cornpone
You copied >>> "Through his character and determination, John McCain has effectively beaten the field in the primary. It is time for Republicans to acknowledge the fact that, in Senator McCain we have a man who can win in November at a time that odds will be against us," Thompson said in a statement."

Uh, did you know that it was Tommy Thompson that said it?

Rayfinn
Obama is on that same list and the allegations against him seem more serious.

The Sun Always Shines on TV
Kudlow is an open-borders freak.

Plus, he's in the back-pocket of the Real Estate Lobby.

These globalists never have a bad thing to say about the economy, i.e., you'll never hear such terms as "slowdown," "recession," or "selloff" from their mouths.

Reminds me of a line from an 80s hit song: "the sun always shines on TV..."

Just heard Obama speak, scary dude
Folks, I of all people hate to say it, but maybe it is true that Obama, or Hillary, would be so disastrous to this country that conservative libertarian types have no choice BUT to vote for McCain. Don't know yet . . . but Obama is making Stalin look pink rather than red. Jeez, the guy would act like a dictator under the terms of his speech.

Kudlow-the Geek
Hey Larry, please update your Townhall photo...you look nothing like your ugly mug on the PMS network (thanks Rush).

Please ditch the vanity, and start showing your age...the fountain of youth does NOT exist....just ask the Hildebeast!

con4fred, this war hinges on this battle
Or didn't you notice?

aDNA
Wrong!

Thanks Sam
I'd like to help, so here's an Ebay link for them to purchase DEPENDS adult diapers before they (McPain & Kudlow) hit the campaingn trail:

When I spoke to Ms McCain & Ms Kudlow (champaign glasses in hand) last night, both said size SMALL would fit perfectly.......

aDNA? Wrong?
Wrong? Me?

Oh Con4fred, you're such a pistol.

No to McCain
We don't like McCain. We won't support McCain. McCain cannot win.

After being declared the presumptive nominee, McCain loses the straw poll at CPAC and gets his clock cleaned in Kansas, Louisiana, and Washington. The party elite and the northeastern states (which McCain will not carry in Nov.) have given us a nominee that we will not support, we will not contribute to and we will not work for.

Get ready for at least four years of Obama.

Trash?
The only trash I see here is some of the posters tonight.

Sam, your ignorance is astounding.

MSM=McPain Steam Media
Jargon Alert!

MSM now equates to McPain Stream Media!

what?
conservatives will join mccain?
HAHAHAHAHA,,,
They will forgive all the crap he laid on them? HAHAHAHAHAHA

Lawrence,,, you should be in comedy.

Taking their marbles and going home...
If the child purists don't get their way, they are sitting out, voting for Hillary, taking their marbles and playing with themselves.

Can you imagine how these people would have done in a Vietnamese prison-of-war camp?

I do not agree with McCain on every issue, especially Global Warming. Still, McCain is a leader, a man who stands by his word, and a far far better presidential hopefull than Billary and Obama.

Time to put aside childish rant and stand with McCain or even Huckabee for that mattter

Get ready,,,
with mccain as our nominee,,,

OBAMA will have the biggest electoral blowout (against the old man) since reagon trounced MONDALE.

Not only that,,, this depression amoung conservatives (mccain) will end up costing votes for ALL republicans.
We will lose GOVS, REPS, SENATERS, and other local elections to boot.

If there are 40 conservative senators to filibuster the DEMS it will be a miracle.

Thanks to Mccain and his little helper Huckabee, get prepared to become the speedbumb on the OBAMA express.

david
I have prepared myself for a Hillary or Obama presidency ever since HUCKABEE decided that a MORMON should not win the WHITE HOUSE. And proceed to spilt the conservative vote.

I am now ready for the inevitable. Are you?

It's over
This election for the presidency is all ready over folks. In fact if you listen real hard you can hear the fat lady singing (ROSIE).
She does'nt sing very well but with the blowout coming she won't much care.

Kudlow's party hackdom once
again on display. Amazingly obtuse column, on so many levels.

Starting with the opening line: "Sen. John McCain is going to be our next president."

Well, he'll almost certainly be the GOP nominee, promptly and efficiently leading the GOP to a beating like a borrowed mule.

Kudlow: "McCain will have a unified Republican party" of hacks and drones, and missing all the conservatives that provide the money and manpower necessary for any GOP nominne to eke out a victory. In an era when the margin of victory is a few thousand votes in a few precincts in a couple of states, no GOP nominee wins withouth the conservatives. No way will anywhere near enough true conservatives support McCain.

What the hacks like Kudlow simply fail to grasp is the adherance and importance of principle over party to true conservatives. We're True Believers. We're willing to die for our principles rather than surrender them.

Better a man dying on his feet than a slave begging on his knees.

Speaking as a former soldier: Do you think soldiers volunteer for the military and fight wars simply because they like compromise on their basic principles?

Do we fight wars just to capitulate? Or are we willing to die for what we believe in?

Principled conservatives are no different. We fight to win or die, and you don't always win.

Isn't that what the movie "300" was all about?

Why can't you drones understand that?

Well stated Brian
I couldn't agree with you more.

But I've got to add that I also WILL NOT vote for any ticket that Huckabigot is on.

ANYONE who stays in a race to sabotage the chances of a far better candidate than himself just because he disagrees with that candidates religion is a religious bigot and doesn't deserve to win anything.

He certainly won't get the votes of myself and/or my family.

Write in Mitt Romney for President, HE is a man we can trust.

Marines Dad
Oh, yeah, Huckleberry's a joke. I fully concur. Romney was my "hold the nose" compromise line-in-the-sand.

How's your son?

Huckabee against Amnesty
Huckabee signed both the NumbersUSA NO Amnesty pledge and the Senator Sessions NO Amnesty and Secure the Border pledge.

McCain refuses to reject Amnesty and has said he will sign McCain/Kennedy Amnesty if it crosses his desk.

So 12 to 20 million poor illegal invaders will be given a path to citizenship and the right to vote.
Then 20 million new poor voters will vote Democratic and Conservatives will NOT see a Conservative President or a Conservative Congress for the rest of our lives.

The choice is clear NOW for Conservatives.
Huckabee against Amnesty NOW.
McCain still for Amnesty.

If ANY of you posters here are REALLY Conservative and care about electing Conservatives, stop complaining the Huckabee is not Conservative enough. Neither was Reagan.
But both will work for our side to win (the Conservative side).

McCain crosses the aisle to work with Kennedy, Feingold, and Liebermann to support the Democrat agenda.

End of Story.

Thanks for asking
He's doing great and loving it where he is. But we're not saying where that is in the threads for "Security" reasons.
Tell you more next time I see ya in Jacks chat room.

Kudlow
Kudlow is a globalist hack looking forward to the destruction of our country.

He must be in a trance to think McCain will unite the party. It is really amazing isn't it. They didn't notice the outrage of the people over amnesty? We just don't want what is good for the country, is how it goes!!

Don't you love it when Bush et all try to coerce us by saying we have to vote for him for national security! I guess they haven't heard about all our enemies south of the border. Hezbollah/Iran gaining foothold in South/Central America, Chavez... If drugs and illegals can cross our border every day, so can weapons and terrorists. Good job Jorge.

I will enjoy watching McCain go down in flames. Hope he loses it and starts cussing everyone out. He is a SCUMBAG TRAITOR.

Kudlow, you are a fine man Except
on the matter of John McCain. He is not the one.

conservative
Jorge says we have to vote for McCain because he is the "conservative" candidate.

It's like how they have to tell us Islam is really a religion of peace.

hackamore
I stated in my post that Obama and Hillary were on the same list as Huckabee. Removing and storing as secure data the old hard drives would have been appropriate, destruction of taxpayer property especially when there are numerous ethics charges against you, was obstruction of justice. Huckabee's proof on innocence and or guilt ae destroyed by him. It stinks to the high heavens.

No To President McCain
Senator McCain has done enough damage to Republican and conservative causes in the Senate, he does not deserve the Republican nomination and will NOT be President. He is a Democrat wearing a Republican label, his voting record proves that. I don't care what he is saying now, he will not advance conservative causes in elected office. If I wanted to vote for a Democrat, I would vote for the real thing. I am definitely voting third party for President this year.

Oh, God, Huckabee is back.
So now our choices are the "conservative" Huckabee and Juan McCain? What's so disturbing about this is that Huckabee's record on illegals is as bad, or worse, than McCain's. He fairly slobbered over them in Arkansas, wanting to give them everything their hearts desired. Google it if you want - there's a lot.

So now that someone who is a proven liar has signed "the pledge" we get to choose between the frying pan and the fire.

I'm just going to forget about it and write in Romney. These two jerks aren't worth 30 seconds worth of consideration.

Mr. Kudlow, are you sure...?
--
...that your columns belong on a conservative Web site?

The best response you're likely to get from real conservatives with regard to the presidential candidacy of John McCain is something akin to the that of the patient who says:

"Okay, Doc; go ahead and amputate."

Most of us would rather see Waco Willie's wife back in the White House than have a (nominal) Republican like John McCain play "Herbert Hoover" to the oncoming train wreck of a recession.

At a time when the conservative movement needs a real champion - a voice for government limited under the rule of law, fiscal responsibility and staunch enforcement of the Bill of Rights - what the GOP is foisting upon the country is going to be yet another goddamned "Rockefeller Republican."

And you expect us to get enthusastic about this bloated geriatric psychopath as if he were the second coming of Barry Goldwater?

Gimme a break.

-----------------
"Superficially charming, psychopaths tend to make a good first impression on others and often strike observers as remarkably normal. Yet they are self-centered, dishonest and undependable, and at times they engage in irresponsible behavior for no apparent reason other than the sheer fun of it. Largely devoid of guilt, empathy and love, they have casual and callous interpersonal and romantic relationships. Psychopaths routinely offer excuses for their reckless and often outrageous actions, placing blame on others instead. They rarely learn from their mistakes or benefit from negative feedback, and they have difficulty inhibiting their impulses."

Sound like any "Maverick" we know?

Kudlow says:

Some things in life are quite simple. Here’s one of them: Sen. John McCain is going to be our next president.

This is going to be the biggest loss by the Republican Party since the election of 1912. After that, maybe the idiots will fix the primary system.

McCain, man of Convictions
In addition, you must admire McCain's unshakable adherence to HIS principles of opened borders and amnesty for all. Pro and Anti McCainites know what they will get with McCain as prez, so stop pretending that somehow he will change. He has not backtracked on these issues, and he never will. You see, McCain is a man of convictions, and HIS convictions trumps yours!

Furthermore or less, McCain's illiteracy re: economics is a blessing in disguise. You see, or blind that you may be, and as has been previously posted, billion$ of taxpayers' money will be spent in order to absorb the scores of millions of new citizens, and millions more of their families back in Mexico and other countries that can now join them, once McCain grants amnesty. Welfare benefits are a right, and the ACLU will see anyone who disagrees in court.
How will McCain find the money to pay for the huge increase in payments/U.S. government liabilities? Simple! You cannot expect innovative, economically-sound ideas from a man who has professed ignorance about economics, and if you do then shame on you! No, of course not! Look in the mirror for the answer!

President Obama?
There is evidence in the primary voting that the Dems are rejecting Hillary. Obama has a good shot at being their candidate. President Obama is a disaster in waiting. ANY Republican is better.

Pick your poison.
Disaster, with either a D or R at the end, is still the same, a disaster.

Case Against McCain
McFlapjack has never had a real job in his life.
The son of a rear admiral and the grandson of a rear admiral in the US Navy.

He graduated 895 out of a class of 899 naval cadets. How that qualified him to be a fighter pilot speaks more of rear admiral X 2 than qualifications.

He lost five planes here and there including the one he flew to the Hanoi Hilton.

There is documented evidence that McFlapjack did indeed collaborate with the enemy while he was a POW and that I was fighting in South Vietnam. There is documented evidence of this online.

A fighter pilot does not a commander in chief make. A fighter pilot is trained to engage enemy planes and targets. McCain never rose above the rank of captain. There is documented evidence that he fraternized with female naval personnel and this is a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.(UCMJ)

He has an anger problem and he is unhinged. He is under constant medication. The American people must insist that this nutcase make his medical records available to the public as well as his military records. Why? Because McFlapjack, like Kerry is talking up his war record.

McCain was involved in the Keating Five scandal that coast the US taxpayer 160 billion dollars. Yes, that is not a typo that is Billion. McCain was found to have engaged in "questionable conduct". He, had he been your everyday con artist, would have went to jail.

He has volcanoed on a number of congressmen calling them obscene names and cursing them out.

He will continued Bush's open border shamesty policy.

He will continue his RINO left wing democrat Kennedy and Nasty Pelosi policies.

I will vote for Hitlary or I will write in Ron Paul for president.
Amen.

Addendum to Case for McCain
McCain doesn't need you conservative nay sayers! You see, he has replaced you with the moderates/pragmatists that want to win and to hell with principles! In addition, the current (U.S. citizen) AND Future (newly-minted citizens and their families back "home"---thanks to amnesty) hispanic block more than offsets those voters who will not support McCain.

If your principles are at odds with McCain's, then walk away from your principles right now! After all, McCain will keep his, and his and only his principles are the ones that count, and don't you forget it! He is the leader, and it is your duty to follow the leader!

Mind Freak
Good job. Had me going there for a moment. :-D

More for the Case for McCain
As our prez, McCain will ask all Americans to sacrifice in these challenging times. With millions of newly-minted citizens and their families now in the U.S., thanks to the compassionate grant of amnesty, U.S. government programs such as Social Security, Medicare, et al will be threatened with insolvency years ahead of schedule. This is where you, my fellow Americans, come in. Open your purses and wallets, for the sacrifice you are making is for the good of the country.

Savage
Thanks but give credit to McCain---he makes it so easy!

was Lawrence K. using illegal substance?
It has been estblished long time ago that Hitlary is next....
McKain, like any Democrap, will finish this country.
Bye, bye.

No lesser evil - they're equal
I will never again vote for a lesser evil.

Kudlow is right on the money
with this article.
The scenario I live for is to see Mccain "make them famous", a line he uses when talking about the pork barrelers and ear-mark aficiandos like hillary who put 291 earmarks in last year alone.

Imagine him addressing the Senate, pointing each of them out on TV, tearing up their "budget" and telling them when they get serious about the people's money, you know where I live.

It would only have to happen once, or the threat alone would put a halt to this practice, one McCain has railed about for over 20 years.

On national defense you folks who denigrate his service have no clue because you obviously haven't seen any military service. Mccain is a Naval Academy grad and a naval War College grad. What do you think they study there? And why would guys with have been tasked with our defense all their lives support him?

The dems have no experience in that arena, none, zero, zilch, nada, our enemies will fear McCain like they feared Reagan and the country will be safer because he sees the big picture, unlike the dems who will surrender and ask for the kumbaya sheet music.

Civilians other than policeman and firefighters don't understand why we vets support Mccain because they have no frame of reference. When you put your life in another man's hands and he in yours, there is a bond of honor and integrity forged that transcends any other, I trust John Mccain to keep this land we love safe so my grandchildren will receive the same bounty we have, that is our highest priority folks, everything else pales in comparison.

Immigration: The Truth
This is from The Weekly Standard (not exactly a left-wing publication):

"Each party's base has two inconvenient truths it doesn't want to hear. For Republicans, those truths concern immigration and the culture war.
"Most of today's illegal immigrant population is here to stay (along with their descendants) and will pay no significant price for getting here outside the legal channels. No presidential candidate can change those facts...."

http://tinyurl.com/2udfey

The nativist opposition to McCain on the immigration issue has to lose in the end. Their mad dreams of mass deportations and ethnic cleansing of illegal Hispanics are NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

We will do with these illegal aliens what we do with any other lawbreakers: Make them pay a debt to society. Fines. Maybe even jail. Learn English. Etc.

But we don't do mass deportations of criminals in America. If we did to the African-Americans what these nativists want done to the Hispanics, we would have deported a million black men years ago for various drug and gang offenses.

You punish lawbreakers. You don't deport lawbreakers.

And McCain cannot give in on this issue. He has to win and the nativists in the GOP, with their racial subtext, have to lose.

What we know and what we don’t know
What we know about an Obama or Clinton presidency-

1. We know that when the two or more aging liberal justices retire, two or more liberal justices will be appointed as replacements and their confirmations will sail through the Senate. The best-case scenario will, therefore, be status quo on the Supreme Court well into the future. We’d best wish very good health and long life for Thomas, Scalia, Alito and Roberts – as well as Kennedy since he’s our only hope for some help (sometimes).
2. We know that there will be universal firearms registration legislation passed by the Congress and signed by the president.
3. We know that confiscation legislation has rapidly followed registration wherever it has been imposed (see UK, Australia and Washington DC).
4. We know that confiscation is the goal of the liberals.
5. We know that McCain has said he will appoint “constitutionalist” justices.
6. We know that the paramount good works of the Bush administration have been his Supreme Court appointments, but we also know that Bush, in violation of his oath of office, has signed legislation (McCain-Feingold) after he had declared it to be unconstitutional.

What we don’t know-

Knowing his record and tendencies, we don’t know if McCain will actually do as he says, but he’s all we’ve got.

I’m voting for McCain. He’s all I’ve got.

Let's get over ourselves
I remember reading hearing the same comments about Reagan when he ran the first time. The far right was furious. He was protrayed as a bumbling old fool, union man, bad actor, pro abortion (Hollywood), Democrat who knew nothing about the nuts and bolts of the GOP and overall disaster for America. Please stop looking for a sainted dead man who was condemned the first time he ran for office. McCain is our man and the sooner we all come around the sooner we can focus on our problem which is looking more like Obama than Billary.

Seawolf
Conservative Veterans do not support Senator McCain. I am a Vietnam Veteran [Disabled, as a matter of fact], though I was never a prisoner of war. I would never vote for Senator McCain, not only is he a Democrat wearing a Republican label, he also has shown a contempt for anyone who does not agree with him at all times. He is not worthy of being President, or of being elected to ANY Federal office for that matter.

This is what comes of idol worship ...
better o be an atheist than to worship other humans. People are always seeking a new messiah. It is all too funny. These people have no leadership skill but like pied pipers are dependant on the following of the foolish.
There are Americans and there are citizens of the United States, (soon to be global citizens).

One thing is clear
Genuine conservatives are not supporting John McCain. It doesn't matter which columnist writes what. Not going to happen.

Maybe the GOP can win without real conservatives, maybe not. One thing is for sure: The GOP has irreparably damaged itself with its incessant leaning left. McCain does a lot more than reach across the aisle. McCain buys a skybox on the other side.

The only possible way that McCain can salvage the conservative vote is with an uber conservative VP candidate, and like many, I think the man has WAY TOO MUCH ego in the game to do that.

SteveL: WHAT IS your psycho need?????

WHY do you call those who believe that people who have come here ILLEGALLY, and DO NOT BELONG here should be returned to their country of origin "nativists?"

Clearly you don't even KNOW what a nativist is. A nativist is someone who protects the interests of native inhabitants against those of immigrants.

Obviously, you don't know the difference between an immigrant and and illegal alien.

Please don't force me to explain the difference between an "immigrant" and an "illegal alien." It's just one of those things that if you need to have it explained, you're never going to get it.

But keep in mind:

1. Illegal aliens cost this country $300 Billion a year.

2. Since March 2003 when our troops went into Iraq, and we've lost 300+ troops in a WAR ZONE, 26000 innocent people have been killed by illegal aliens right here on US soil.

3. Not only do we now have cases of tuberculous (a disease that the CDC declared eradicated in 1963) we now have drug resistant strains of TB.

4. And if that's not enough for you, how about an outbreak of leprosy (for which there is no cure) in Northwest Arkansas, thanks you illegal aliens coming here without any health checks?

And THIS is only the short list!!!

I forgot. We also know ...
... that McCain would veto firearms registration, since he says he's such a good friend of the Second Amendment. Do we really know that? I don't know.

Other Reality
McCain's voting record, as tracked by National Journal' indicates that in 1994, eight years after he was first elected to the Senate, he was to the right of such stalwart conservatives as Strom Thurmond, R-S.C., and Phil Gramm, R-Texas, but a decade later he was more liberal than all but two of his GOP colleagues.

"I just don't feel he has the disposition to be president, plus I disagree with him on a whole raft of issues," conservative activist Paul Weyrich recently told National Journal. "I talked to a couple that had gone to see him from Arizona, and they said something, apparently, that he didn't like, and he just blew up at them. And they actually got frightened.... It troubles me."

Likewise, David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, says of McCain, "I think that he is going to have a very tough road to put together the united base he is going to need to wage an effective campaign in the fall."

A stunning indictment of McCain's temperament burst into the news on January 27 from an unexpected source. The damning words came courtesy not of some rabble-rouser or radio talk-show host, but from an affable, low-key Southerner -- Republican Thad Cochran of Mississippi, a 30-year veteran of the Senate.

In language that has reverberated across Capitol Hill, Cochran, the ranking Republican on the Senate Appropriations Committee, told The Boston Globe: "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper, and he worries me."

When pressed on whether he would support McCain if the senator nails down the nomination, Keene said, "I am torn, because I have always taken the position that if you enter the game you have to abide by the results. On the other hand, I cannot see myself out knocking on doors for this guy, you know what I mean. I think I will have to be AWOL during that campaign."

Sam: You're losing it! Take a break!

SteveL.
The Weekly Standard's Bill Crystal, Fred Barnes, et al. are neocons, they are not conservatives in the mold of National Review. I dropped my subscription to WS long ago.

I have replied to your continually assaults on people who believe in the simple logic of protecting our borders more than once, you never reply. Seems you're unable to address facts.

El Rushbo was 100% right
Comments from Oct 18, 2006

RUSH ARCHIVES: This notion that it doesn't matter who wins because the Democrats aren't going to have a big enough majority? That's going to lead to another thing that I will share with you. It's going to lead to the nomination of John McCain for the Republican presidential candidacy. In two years, you same people who will have helped bring about an ascension to power by the Democrats, are going to be so angry -- you're going to be so fed up -- over what they have tried to do, over the things they will maybe have accomplished, that you are going to demand power back, and you will accept anybody that you think has a chance of winning it. And right now, that looks like McCain, above anybody else -- who, I must tell you, is not a conservative. And so what are you probably going to end up doing? You're going to be so frustrated by 2008, and the thought of Hillary Clinton becoming president so obnoxious, so abhorrent; that in 2008 you will flush your precious principles down the drain and elect a Republican, precisely the kind of Republican you think you're running against now -- or you will at least nominate one. Who knows how that election will go? So the very principle that you are fighting here, if you succeed, you will be given a candidate who fits the very thing you're angry about: somebody who's not conservative enough but probably has the best chance of winning.

Anne
Good morning and thanks for your 8:55 post. You save me so much typing. Few more like you and i could throw asay my keyboard. :-D

goldilock: Agreed! I don't know what

happened to Crystal and Barnes.

And, after the McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Bill, I don't trust McCain... not matter what he promises!

Those who throw snit fits
and don't vote because of "principles" will leave us all sitting in deep snit. Like I said yesterday, it goes beyond cutting your nose off to spite your face - it's more like chopping off your head because you have a big ugly pimple on your chin. Put some Clearisil on it, fer cripes sake!

I REALLY don't like McCain for all the reasons you'all don't, BUT I'm working and supporting all of the conservatives down the ballot who can be a firewall against all idiocy from the White House no matter who is in.

It is what it is. All of us kept jumping from pony to pony, until they all stumbled, dropped out of the race and the ornery old plug, the glue factory reject who bites at every opportunity, won't be lead or can't be kept in the corral, wins by default.

I'll take the old plug over the old nag or the unbroken gelding.

Savage99: And good morning to you :-)

And thank you. :-) But, do mean to say I'm not enough... LOL

Hey Sophia, Hey Ralph
Did you just see what Roadmaster said about certain people? Are you going to let this arrant sexism and racism pass without noble protest? For shame. Fie upon you, what are you good for?

A Conservative is still in the Race
Ron Paul!

He hasn't pulled out of the race.

Yes, he has scaled back his campaign but there are not so many states in play now.

He has confirmed that he will not run 3rd party, that's it.

Granted, McCain is looking like he will "win" the nomination. Huckabee is staying in to keep the anti-McCain vote from coalescing behind Ron Paul. Ron Paul probably coudn't win anyway because too many Republicans confuse militarism with patriotism.

I seriously doubt that McCain will be President. However, regardless of whether McCain wins or loses in November, I hope y'all enjoy living in the Peoples Republic of Aztlan (or maybe the new Caliphate)

Read Revelation 18 for another view.

Revelation 18 (abridged)
1And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
7How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
11And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
14And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
17For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate

Anne: About your 8:55 AM Post
Good morning Anne; good morning to the right-thinking people here.

SteveL tossed the baloney argument about rounding up 12 million people, yet again, as a reason to do nothing. Well, if we secure the borders, stop employers from hiring illegals, and stop giving illegals free stuff they will self deport. The solution to SteveL's objection is to enforce the immigration laws.

That's my only criticism to an otherwise excellent post.

You got a mouse in your pocket?
"So far as I can tell, high taxes and diminished free trade are the biggest worries for business and stocks."

This tells me that the "Cheap products" from Mexico and China will continue to come in, with no reduction of THEIR tariffs on our products, and "Cheap labor" will keep coming across our Border.

roadmaster
You got it. We nitpicked our own way into this fix and we won't get out of it quickly.

A McCain presidency will stave off the Hillabarack debacle. Maybe we'll come to our senses four years from now, and maybe a real conservative will materialize by then.

Anne
Nobody is perfect, but every woman knows in her heart she is far more than merely enough.

elko: Agreed! There is no single

solution... it requires ALL of the above...

And, it needs to be done simultaneously... not we'll start this once that's done...

So, how was the dog house? LOL

:
Somehow, if McCain is the nominee, I will manage to pull the lever by his name. God knows how I will cover the stench, but I will. When I do it will be to allow the good men and women in the armed forces to complete their mission in Iraq. This is more important to our country than my not insignificant snit towards McCain's liberal tendencies.

Anne: It was cramped and cold
Have you had your training yet on the mothership flight simulator?

For Anne
In your post to SteveL at 8:55 you wrote:

You don't get it Anne. When some company that has the gall to earn a profit brings a predatory or aggressive fish into the Great Lakes in the ballast water of a freighter, that is an environmental disaster brought on by the greed of capitalism and we must stop it. But when some third world peasant sneaks across the border and introduces an epidemic into this country we're supposed to be understanding, compassionate, and tolerant lest the self proclaimed social judges of our nation (aka "moderates" label us as "nativist" or some other form of bigot).

I am amused that the same liberals who vilify ethnic Europeans because our ancestors brought disease to this pure, virgin New World are now telling us it's our duty to accept epidemics brought in by illegals.

It's OK to infect ethnic Europeans, but the "Native Americans" and the environment must remain sacrosanct.

And then they have the hypocrisy to think of us as bigots.

SteveL, the self-proclaimed moderate, is living proof that Rush is right about yet another thing. Anyone who isn't conservative will eventually be demonstrated to be liberal.

Hint: this also applies to a certain Senator from Arizona who wants to be the next Prez.

USMC Lt -- I am an eternal optimist

Were you expecting anything other than lame arguments from a liberal? I mean really.

Never forget
who Al Quaida will endorse. I have no doubt it'll be the Old Nag or the young gelding, NOT the Old Plug.

wiseone: Funny you bring up the

freighters bringing predatory or aggressive fish through the St. Lawrence into the Great Lakes.

I'm very familiar with that...

But you do have a point.. the liberal need to justify their point... which isn't really a "point" by bringing up things that happened many, many years ago...

Amazing, isn't it?

Wiseone: There is much to ponder
in your post.

You remind us that the world envisioned by the left is one in which the fly around in their private jets, and land only for parties, $400 haircuts, and to tell the rest of us what to do. Because illegals are a chosen group of these liberal elites, we, their loyal subjects, must accept disease and a lower standard of living.
Is that about right?
One thing that does puzzle me though is that without capitalism where will the liberal elite get the loot to toss from their helicopters?

Okay elko, you know where YOU go as soon

as you get to Jack's! LOL

For elko.mike
If we gave enough chimpanzees keyboards and waited long enough one of them would eventually produce a cogent argument by completely random keystrokes that occured in the right order purely by chance.

But, as with liberals, we don't have the resources to make that happen and it wouldn't be worth wading through all of the gibberish they would produce to find it.

The biggest difference I can see between chimpanzees and liberals is that the chimps don't run for office and thus don't confiscate my wealth in the form of taxes to support the disintegration of our nation and our culture.

A chimp knows he's a chimp. A liberal thinks he's a "progressive".

Hey USMC Lt. How are things going?

Hear you're having a great time and loving it.

I'll vote McCain
or whoever is the Rep. nominee, whether I'm completely happy with him or not.

The alternative is not only more taxes and spending but also resrtictions on energy exploration, development, and use in the name of GW; the entire liberal agenda from trans sexual rights to "comparable worth" pay, military defeat in the Middle East, more whackos on the Sup. Ct., recession at home, and domestic insecurity against future terrorist attavks.

Anne: The Naughty Corner?
Will I find whipped cream and a cherry?

polls
Conservatives have swallowed the kool-aid about McCain winning head to head against Hillary. These polls have been so wrong throughout the campaign. Recently Zogby/Reuters had Romney with a surging 8 poit lead in California on election eve. It was not even close to being accurate. How can conservatives believe the pollsters about McCain winning? Like lemmings, we have lined up to buy the Brooklyn Bridge.
My first choice Newt did not want to get in. My two and three choices were a tie Thompson and Romney. Thompson was unhappy that we did not throw a coronation party and expected him to actually run. Romney looked very appealing, but the religionist purists threw him under the bus. I am now ready to join the best conservative party that may emerge from this debacle. A party divided against itself cannot stand.

Sam is right and so are most others here
Sam is right. This is all staged. Otherwise there is no way we could be here with our top 3 choices being socialists, open borders, anti-American Citizen, gain complete control dictators. This has been a movement in the making for about 60 years and it has finally peaked. So hang on because this ride is going to be bumpy! The political strategist know and understand the psychology of the masses of voters and they know they are ignorant and if that isn't working for them bring in Diebold electronic voting machines and other methods of fraudulent voting and whoala....they still win.
God Bless America and help us to WAKE UP those who are still asleep.

Mind Freak, the new loyal democrat.??.

Thank heavens I can read between the lines nowadays, because when I first came to TH, guys like you were, well, freaks and to be shunned.

I can hardly to this day see the necessity of this tactic. Guess I am too straight, huh.??.

Now Ann Coulter is my idea of telling it like it is, but mind games seem to be rather an extreme approach.

Of course I have been known to say one thing and mean quite the opposite, for effect right, but only with people who should know me and I can grin at their startled looks and make them relaxed again. In public forum.??. Naw, and not as a constant theme.

DON'T BE FOOLED AGAIN BY MCCAIN
Senator John McCain completely misread the wishes of the American people when he supported the McCain-Kennedy bill that was so soundly crushed by the American people.

McCain now admits that the American people want our borders secure FIRST. And, what then Senator McCain? Amnesty? And exactly how do you plan to secure our borders? You continue to dodge the second part of this quetion. Border security is every bit as important as fighting wars around the world. Yet, it is only when you are running that you wake up to this fact.

And who does he place on his staff for "outreach" to the Mexican people. Why none other than Juan Hernandez, a dual citizen of both Mexico and the United States, who invariably places the interests of Mexico above the interests of the United States.

McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts. He wants to make them permanent now that he is running for President. He will tell you whatever you need to hear.

McCain is not only arrogant, but hotheaded to the extent of getting us in big trouble with his one finger on the "military button." I give McCain credit for being a military hero. But, Lord knows, that was almost one-half century ago.

It will be a sad day for America if McCain gets the Republican nomination. You can't trust him. He will tell you whatever you need to hear.

Obama cruises to victory
This former marine (enlisted) and conservative thinks Obama will emerge as the Democratic Party's man, and that I may cross over. Yes, Obama is the most liberal of all the senators in the last decade. What I find appealing, however, is not his policies but his leadership and his forward looking momentum. I think a balanced or conservative congress will keep his policies in check, and his administration would certainly clean house in Washington, definitely shake things up, which may be just the ticket. The reality of the current mission in Iraq and Afghanistan will force him to act reasonably, and DC gridlock will prevent the military from too-abrupt shifts.

Welcome to the 21st century!

elko: Uhhh.. NO. You just sit there

and THINK about what you said! :-)

Jack's is open!!!

wise one

Of course liberals are progressives. Only there idea of progress is regression to tyranny. Sliding into nothingness. That's real equality. Except of course for the big chiefs who always get there spot in the sun or shade.

We'll all be chimpanzees if the animal rights (read liberals) have their way.

The first beast in Revelation
Is a political system to create the one world system. Rev. 13 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. (Political system rise up out of the nations/people) Many are looking to this system as we see today for peace...but they are unaware it is an artificial peace...a lie The "seven heads" are seven dominions of the people, or seven continents of this world body; as even the activities and divisions at the North and South Poles are governed through the United Nations Charter. It covers the entire world land masses.
"Horns" are always symbolic of "power". These "ten horns" are ten agencies, or units of power flowing from this beast, or political system. These horns are the Military force, the world health organization, UNICEF for children, the world bank, the world court, and so on. This is very similar to the system of government given in Genesis 11, under Nimrod. Anyone who doesn't believe in the Bible may want to rethink their beliefs. God Bless

Like French Waiters during a recession..
Like French waiters during a recession, the child conservative "purists" are left to hurl insults at each other and the two remaining Republican candidates.

Just keep barking at the moon and threatening to sit out / vote for Hillary.

McCain
My God you are an incredible optimist.

I hope you are right but fear you are wrong.

The case for McShame...???...

Only case I know where he will be appreciated is when six military carry him to his final rest. Not to wish him any bad luck, but age is running very much against him.

Now I think the true powers that be are wisely using McShame, wisely that is with regards to their plans for us.

Yes, he fits the bill perfectly. Not to bright, lots of faults, too old and he was able with their help to shut down any real candidates just in time to hand it to a dumb nuts Demoncrat they also use to achieve ends that meet their ends and not ours.

God save America from this continued injustice. I use to think it was our stupidity, and to some extent it is, but the chimpanzees are being played like a fiddle by a master player.

King Lib: Just shows what you don't
know. I'm a Conservative who happens to register as an (R).
:
Ann as usual is right and the Conservatives will help Repubs right their ship.

If Obama wins,
there'll be no cons. Cong. to hold him in child. Reps. will be lucky to have 50 Senators to filibuster.

You can all rant and congratulate yourselves on your principles for hating McCain or not voting for anyone, but you are just digging your own cons. grave.

Either you get into the fight and get dirty, or you can take your marbles and go home.

NO CONSERVATIVE CASE FOR MCCAIN
STOP MCCAIN - VOTE HUCHABEE

.....Don't listen to the "experts" who keep saying that it is mathematically impossible for Huckabee to win enough votes for the nomination ...that may be true but he can win enough votes to stop McCain and to force a brokered convention where anything is possible ...

.....In all the remaining primaries registered Republicans should turn out to vote for Huckabee ...at the least it will be a protest vote against McCain ...and at the best it could force a Brokered Convention ...Vote Huckabee .....COLOSSUS

And the pro-Obama'ers
are forgetting how his normal leg. vote is "present," so he never commits one way of the other. What does that indicate for his executive leadership abilities.

They are also forgetting in IL his committee on health refused even to discuss abortion. He's a 100-percenter on abortion at any place at any time.

After he appoints too more leftists to the Sup. Ct., parents will be lucky to ever learn if a daughter gets pregnant.

McCain is not perfect, but the ACU has given him as 83% rating, which is a solid B. That's surely better than Hillary or Obama who've never seen a gov't program or tax hike they didn't want to take to bed.

Those who want to withdraw from this race are yielding the US to al Qaida extremists and their own safety.

A Vote For The Democrats Here
As long as McCain continues to waffle on the Illegal Aliens IN THIS COUNTRY NOW he will not get my vote. No matter what his stance on other issues. Giving amnesty UNDER ANY NAME to lawbreaking job thieving illegal infaders offsets any other issue.

He may be a war hero.

So was Benedict Arnold.

Ring, ring, ring, this is the
Republican Nat. committee, can we count on you to make a contribution to the party???
NO, a thousand times NO!!!
First YOU want to make it so that my Children can't have "a better life for their families" with the competing illegal aliens in this country, My Son does one of those jobs "Americans just don't want to do", well F you, it is in construction, "where's his option for a better life" if the illegal aliens work under the table, and don't pay taxes??? He's self employed, know what that means?? It means you pay 2X plus in Soc. Sec. taxes, so if the illegal will work for less what's that do for my son's family? Then we have the panderers, well YOUR son should go back to school and learn another trade! WHY??? He has been in this one for 20 years, HE should go into debt, so we can accomodate the Amigos??? And all this in the state of Michigan with 7.4% unemployment!!!
THIS alone makes McCain a ba$___ in my book!!!
I don't see him rolling over and giving his Senate seat to an illegal alien!!!
Check out the state of YOUR community by going to http://www.zipskinny.com, my Daughters was 8.6% Hispanic in 2000, NOW the schools are over 33% Hispanic in 2005 and this according to the US Dept. of Education, you can see for yourself by going to the above website, it gives the 2000 census, then when you click on schools it gives the 2005 Dept. of Ed. figures, check it for yourself zip code 49091, AGAIN in the state of poverty Michigan!!!
BUT according to our congress, WE MUST welcome the abuse!!!

McCain, Now The Darling of the MSM
Why?

I believe there is something back there in McCain's past, military or political, that is going to come out as soon as he is the Republican nominee.

He will be torpedoed and dead in the water come November.

Sunday 11:19
What's Happening?

I DID NOT WRITE THAT POST!!!

For ModMark
"Not sure what the point was..."

Thank you for certifying your moderate credentials by being unable to understand the obvious because it isn't consistent with your preconceived liberal disposition.

The "point" is (not "was") that the same liberals in this country who are outraged when something like the Dutch Elm bug gets into this country and destroys our elm tree take a ho-hum attitude toward new strains of TB in Arkansas and the introduction of leprosy in Alaska.

The "point" is that this inconsistency in attitude demonstrates that the position of liberals on illegal immigration is based on bias, not principle.

Another "point" is that some of these liberals call themselves "liberals", but most of them eschew the name "liberal" and either call themselves "progressives" or "moderates".

BTW - since you like zebra mussels so much, how did you feel about the millions of ale wifes that once stunk up our beaches in Michigan? And how do you like the extra muck the mussels are giving us near the shorelines?

Too late for brokered convention
Unfortunately it's too late to stop McCain in the primaries. We can only defeat him in the general election.

The first reason is mathematical. Almost all the remaining states divide the delegates proportionately, instead of being winner-take-all. So even if Huckabee wins a plurality of the votes (40%), McCain will keep building his delegate lead.

The other, main reason why we can't stop McCain from getting the nomination is because "the fix is in". Most of the Republican Party leadership and media are liberal, neo-con types. They covered up everything bad about McCain, and ran smear campaigns against Romney and Huckabee.

With the crooked media covering for McCain, we will never be able to build the massive (70%, 80%+) anti-McCain vote we would need to defeat him.

Watch how the Republican media report on Huckabee's victories this weekend. Huckabee will be almost totally ignored, and the media will talk about McCain's upcoming coronation.

And who will we broker for?
Lincoln came out of a stymied Rep. conv., but I wouldn't bet any ranches that there is some unknown politician lurking among the electorate who is waiting to be discovered like a starlet in a drugstore by Rep. pols as a powerful and viable candidate.

The Reps. will prob. run McCain. He has nearly 1000 delegates already, and if Rommey yields his (200+), McCain will have a 1000.

Then some cons. will have to stop sucking their thumbs and hoping Reagan will be resurrected (they didn't like him for a long time either) and actually vote Rep. in Nov. or accept denigration of their ideas and commitments for maybe eight years and longer while DC falls off the left ooast, and the US turns into Sweden.

McCain
You have got to be joking! No way in hell will I ever cast a vote for this man. He is a hot tempered, vile man. I admire anyone in the military but that is not necessarily a qualification for the presidency! Using his POW status/torture on a commercial is pandering in the worst way. He is a liberal and anyone who wants this country to return to conservative values will never vote for McCain. When people understand that it is the biased media that is trying to manipulate the elections you will only vote your conscience - when the NY Times - the most liberal, biased untruthful newspaper comes out and endorses McCain - what does that tell you? Our only hope is a brokered ocnvention - hopefully Huckabee/Ron Paul can garner enough votes to stop MCCain - all of you who are in states that have not voted - vote for Huckabee - he's not my first choice - but better than McCain will ever be.
I believe Larry, that you must have written this article under the influence...

Party within a Party
The best approach is to be the Conservative Party within the Republican Party. Never vote for anyone who isn't a rock solid conservative. Never give a penny to any organization or candidate which isn't 100% conservative.

If a candidate isn't conservative, it doesn't matter whether (R) or (D) is after his name, he's not worth voting for.

If we give our votes and money to leftist candidates, we will just be ignored (except for being laughed at for giving our treasure away for nothing).

Unite!
You clowns can unite around McCain...I won't. I pray he loses big. Maybe then we'll get the revolution we need.

The Case Against McCain
from the conservative side.

Favored draconian government control over political speech--McCain-Feingold.

Favored amnesty for illegal immigration--McCain-Kennedy.

Was against Bush's tax cuts before he was for them.

Admits he doesn't know much about economics. A fatal flaw which leads him to cooperate with Democrats when they want to hamstring free enterprise--doesn't know or care why this is BAD. Hint to McCain: Read some Hayek.

Organizing the Gang of 14 which established a terrible Unconstitutional precedent in the Senate for super-majority votes (60) for confirmation of judges. The Constitution calls for a simple majority (50% + 1).

McCain is tone-deaf to conservative concerns.

He's got some 'splainin' to do to get our vote.

To Unite
It seems to me that we better get the terrorist thugs under control before you start beating the "revolution" drum. Don't let the tail wag the dog.

Woody from Iowa

every politician that has
talked tough on illegal immigration is gone from this election(except Ron Paul?),it's an issue that is basically off the table right now, as we are in an election year where the winner will be needing the support of Latinos. All of you who are beating that dead horse need to look at the big picture. McCain was not my first choice, but, the Democratic candidates are absolutely horrible on every issue important to me, letting either one into power is a recipe for disaster. Hold your nose and pull that lever, otherwise, we will lose and be stuck with the un-thinkable!
P.S. Let's leave the divisiveness to the Liberals

Move the GOP to the Right
I sincerely believe the only way to stop the GOP from sliding further to the left is to revolt against McCain.

Some say we did this in 2006 and it did no good, I disagree. Everyone who lost their seat says it was because they abandonded their conservative values. If the House or Senate ever again becomes a Republican majority we will see different behaviour. They now know they cannot act like liberals and be reelected.

I keep hearing the neocons say McCain is the only one who can get the vote of the moderates and independents. They believe true conservatism does not sell.

It's sad really, a true conservative could have won in a land-slide against the far-Left Hillary or Obama. That we did not have a conservative is because too many of our elected officials are moderates who just do not like conservatives.

If we vote for McCain we will send the message that the neo-cons were right, we have all moved to the left.

Nosireebob
jimmyjames: I have my principles. I'm not voting for McCain. He's pro-amnesty and pro-NAU. I can't vote for that.
