Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

President Barack Obama’s inaugural speech was supposed to be one of the great inaugural addresses of all time. It was supposed to encourage us, to inspire us. Instead, it deflated us.

Obama’s inaugural address deflated us because it perfectly crystallized the quandary America now finds itself in: we wanted our faith renewed through a “transformational moment” -- but now we’ve got a faithless man for president. Obama has no faith in God’s stake in the American destiny; instead, God merely “calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.” Despite his protestations to the contrary, Obama has no faith in Americans; instead, he wishes to change our hearts of stone for hearts of flesh: “we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world’s resources without regard to effect.”

Obama has only one deep and abiding faith: faith in himself. He mentioned humility three times during his inaugural address. The gentleman doth protest too much. This inauguration, in Obama’s view, was about his personal elevation; his accession to the White House was “a moment that will define a generation,” a moment when the nation “set aside childish things.” Most evocatively, Obama cited his inauguration as a moment when all cynics were thrust aside because “the ground has shifted beneath them.” The imagery of Moses (Obama) facing down Korah (Rush Limbaugh and the political right) and the ground swallowing up Korah is unmistakable.

Obama’s faith in himself -- and by extension, faith in the government he leads -- is unshakeable. In his inaugural address, Obama dismissed the question of “whether our government is too big or too small.” Instead, he suggested, we should focus on “whether it works.” Yet there is apparently no situation in which Obama believes the government, led by Barack Obama, doesn’t work. The free market requires “a watchful eye”; “a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous.” The government must build us “new roads and bridges,” “restore science to its rightful place,” “transform our schools and colleges and universities.” The government must bring about global equality via international redistribution: “poor nations … we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds.” In Obama’s mind, the government he runs solves all problems and rights all wrongs.

What will happen when government fails?

Obama’s hubris -- the belief that he can do no wrong, that he can miraculously lead America to “harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories” -- will lead him to shift blame for his inevitable failures onto the shoulders of the American people.

Already, it has begun. If Obama’s policies fail, he will blame his partisan critics, the benighted Americans who refuse to acknowledge, “that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply.” If our economy continues to shrink, as it certainly will under Obama’s “new New Deal,” Obama will blame our continued “collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age.”

In his fatal distrust of the American people, Obama echoes President Jimmy Carter. In his address, Obama noted a “profound … sapping of confidence across our land -- a nagging fear that America’s decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.” Here he echoes Carter, who famously declared an American “crisis of confidence … a crisis that strikes at the very heart and soul and spirit of our national will.”

This is dangerous stuff. Pessimism is a natural outgrowth of tough economic times, to be sure, but the American people do not believe that America’s decline is inevitable. In fact, the only commentators who have posited the inevitability of American decline are Obama and his supporters. As Obama puts it, “the world has changed, and we must change with it.”

But if Obama’s plans to “remake America” in the European image fail -- and, God willing, they will -- his grandiose self-involvement and blustering pomposity will lead him to condemn the very Americans who elected him. The meaning of Obama’s “transformational moment” will become naked in the light of day; it will become obvious that Obama’s election was Americans’ superfluous attempt to move beyond race, not a broad mandate to remold the country.

And Obama will learn the hard way that while Americans will never fail, presidents can.

Mind-reading and precognition

Shapiro is a master of reading Obama's mind and foretelling the future. This was one of his most vacuous columns yet, but at the same time, I have to applaud him for keeping the hatred under control

Joe - VA
It's unnerving to see so-called Americans undermine their President in a time of war. Joe

================

I thought dissent was the highest form of patriotism?

Joe
I haven't read all the posts so I don't know the tally with regard to presidents. You are on a conservative board so you need to be careful how you view opinions. If you want to read the happy, happy opinions, go on a liberal site.

I do know that I have no faith in that thumb sucking idiot, Obamination and doubt that he will ever earn my respect. Too much evil money behind his election.

I also know that my family and I stand behind our troops and the decent people in our government. We ask God, each evening, to help us to go in the right direction. Our flag is flown every day. So stop already with the sad, sad nonsense.

Dissapointing
Wow. So much Anti-Americanism and hate on this board. It's unnerving to see so-called Americans undermine their President in a time of war. Why do you hate the troops so much?

Sad. Sad. Sad.

Good Article, Mr Shapiro!!
When I responded to some Poll (out of PaloAlta, CA so U can figure where it was going, I indicated that there was no way I'd vote for Clinton, but 'might' consider Obama. I did NOT vote for Obama and we all know the results?!
Life if fickle and S31t Happens--from the looks of the Cabinet etc, if tragedy were to strike we could be stuck with Clinton(s) one way or
the other?? How's that for a horror story??
So I feel compelled to wish Mr O a LONG LIFE!!

The American Delusion of Obama
What finally kept coming across, over and over, was that if we elected a black man, things would change for the better. Right!

Do we all understand that that is fallacious thinking and couldn't be too much more erroneous? Are we all going to kiss Obama's behind because he is the second coming and he will c-h-a-n-g-e the w-o-r-l-d, yes he will. Aaaaaamen.

This guy is an average Joe with a lot of rich people behind him. If you haven't gotten it now and continue to be brain washed, then God help you and the damage you will continue to do to America. One things is for sure...we all turn black when we are blown up. Think about that.

All aboard, the bandwagon is leaving
At last count, one more wagon is being added because everyone seems to want to get on the inaugural bandwagon trail ride. I really don't think we have those who knows what an inaugural is. It's only the beginning of a Presidency. An inaugural speech is an introduction into that Presidency. The speech itself is not written in stone. It's a speech solely meant for the inauguration. The speech the bandwagon crowd wanted has already been made, which got Obama elected President. The people went to the inauguration and the parade for the celebration and to be part of history. If the bandwagon crowd is judging President Obama based on his inaugural speech, then they need to get on the bandwagons labeled 'I just want to gripe about nothing'.

2009 Inaugural day hubris..

It will be nothing compared to the New Fascism which will not only be allowed to flourish; it will be mandated.. Hooray for the USA.. a little over half of the American people will get the government they deserve.

My Misgivings, too.
Crowhall, I think that what is meant by Obama's "faithlessness" is his utter cynicism. He patronized the Rev. Wright's Black Liberation church in Chicago because that would sew up an important power base. When the Rev. became a political liability, look how quickly Obama just dropped the Rev.--and the "eccentric old uncle" rhetoric.

He's thrown a few sops to the Evangelicals (Rick Warren's invocation and some kindly words early in the campaign); but he'll drop them like a dead rat when he finds that they're not really the lockstep bloc vote they're cranked out to be (viz., they're bewildering denominational/doctrinal variety).

Note that for all his dovish campaign, BO retained Bush's sec. of defense.

This is one cynical, opportunistic puppy.

Kaci:
A failure for Obama is a failure for America?? What mindless nonsense.

Obama's agenda is to change (as in change you can believe in) America into a socialist country. Is that what you want? If so, YOU will want Obama to succeed. I don't want to live in a socialist country where MY money is confiscated and given to deadbeats and where the Federal Government micromanages every aspect of our lives. I certainly do hope he fails.

Didn't you learn anything from the Soviet Experiment?

Jo, 5:33
You called it.

The only way around the MSM is the internet.

Unfortunatly, the Republican Party leadership regard telephones as "new fangled" and complain of not being able to find a Western Union Telegraph office.

Actually
Chloe was right in one regard. On the Plains Radio site those "right" wingers are actually calling for people to pray that Obama fails. Do they not realize that a failure for Obama is a failure for America? I did not vote for Bush - but the first time around I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I even thought the Iraq war was the right thing to do in the beginning. It is through in depth research by those on the left and right that changed my mind. It is from watching the hubris of Bush who refused to listen to anyone's advice because he was the "Decider" that changed my mind. It was from watching our government fail miserably with FEMA because the one appointed to head that agency was only experienced in managing horses that changed my mind, and the attempt at appointing another cronie - Myers - to a top position. Please, let us set aside "childish things" and attempt to get this country back on track in a new age as Americans, not left or right.

Sorry Tim I'm not buying it
First off Newsweek was once a good magazine but its liberal editor has caused its decline, they fall in line with the Washington Post, NY Times or the LA Times.

If you do some additional research you will find that America:

Favors Gun ownership rights v Gun-control
Favors Pro-life v Abortion
Favors Tax Cuts v Increased Taxes
Favors smaller govt rather than larger
Favors equality for all v affirmative action
The list goes on and on in favor of a center-right nation.

And if these stats are correct (and I highly doubt they are) hen WHY did Americans just voted for politicians who oppose all these things? Try to con someone else, I was educated in a non-liberal classroom, I’m not buying it. I’m sure that most Americans would reject Socialism if only they knew what it was, but the democrats have used certain words to make it sound just fabulous. The reality is the socialism promotes poverty there is no spreading of wealth, the wealth stays in the hands of politicians and the elite.

Camanintx
You do know that you are perpetuating a lie don't you? This "organization in Alaska" is not supported by, nor is Palin a member of this group. The MSM has thoroughly debunked this.

I suppose you also believe that Trig is Palin's grandson and not her son? Ridiculous left propaganda!

This was not a historic event for me.
Just another jerk thinking he's so wonderful that he, too, will lift the earth on its axis.

Having read this article and others today, I knew I had done the right thing by not listening to that doofus. Just too much.

DanNV writes:
Let Obama Succeed
Yes, those who rest their hopes and dreams on Obama controlling every aspect of their lives deserve his success. As long as all the rest of us can opt out.
-----------------------------------------------
I understand there is an organization in Alaska, supported by the governor no less, that just might help you opt out if enough of you move up there and join.

Let the nauseum begin.
If you worship me, I’ll solve all the ills of the World. Put your faith in me. The only man I’ll worship is God and Mr. Obama you are no God. Democrats generally worship in this order: themselves, money, money and power; I generally don’t see God in their equation, or if used, it’s used for a convenience like cheating on your spouse or out-of-wedlock child. They suddenly found God and suddenly found a clergyman who just as corrupt as them, (Jess Jackson or Al Sharpton) to hunker down and ask God for forgiveness Well Hallelujah, Praise Jesus. What will his “fans” do when he and Congress are unable to make anything better, turn around and tell us to except what happen to them and con the masses this is the best life? It works in other socialist Country’s.

Left Angle
You stated "if the majority of americans didnt think his policies were good for america then they would not have elected him potus."

Running up to the election, the only actual "policy" that Obama ran on was "Change". This word can mean many things to many people, thus the plethera of articles about how many on the left will be disappointed with President Obama as they see him moving right.

President Obama ran a compaign on platitudes based upon change, that in itself had no specific policy. He ran against GW, though he wasn't in fact running.

Do you really think that most of America believes in late term partial birth abortion as Obama does? Do you really think that most Americans want to give birth control to middle schoolers as Dems do? Do you really believe that our schools only need more money to produce better students rather than accountablity by our teachers? Do you really believe that Americans want more Federal programs that historically cost too much and deliver soo little with such gross waste and mismanagement? Do you really belive that Americans believe that a spotted owl is more important than progrss and development? Do you really believe that average Americans really care what France thinks of us, or for that matter most any other country?

The answers are NO, they don't. The Dems are made up of multiple special interest groups and catering to those groups rather than core ideology like republicans believe in low taxes, small government, open & free markets, etc. Thus....center-right.

Good points Left Angle
But the other argument being made here by many honest small "c" conservatives (like myself) is that a large number of voters either voted against Bush (and not "for" Obama's policies) or voted for "change" and "hope", without fully comprehending/turning their minds to Obama's policy substance.

But I think we can certainly agree that time will tell.

Let Obama Succeed
Yes, those who rest their hopes and dreams on Obama controlling every aspect of their lives deserve his success. As long as all the rest of us can opt out.

Left Angle
I know that politics is a pendulum in terms of party rule, but you have to admit that right now, currently the GOP is in pretty bad shape and if they dont adjust to the electorate and the changing times they are going to be stuck in the past and increasingly irrevelant as the minority. Left Angle

===================================

Wrong. The GOP should have run a *conservative* candidate who stuck to conservative principals, not McCain.

Also Bush should not have compromised conservative principals. Had both of these things not happened we may be in office. It has nothing to do with adjusting to changing times, if we have a GOOD message the change will come naturally - the GOP has not been as strong and pushy as the DNC. I mean, honestly we used to hear all about Howard Dean at a time when most people didn't even know who was chairman of the GOP was - bet you don't know either without looking it up.

GOP needs to roar as loud as the DNC, and they have to get in the media. Which is so slanted left now - it will be a challenge.

Left Angle
Actually, we are a center-right country, though you may disagree with me. Newsweek wrote about this in Nov-08. http://www.newsweek.com/id/164656/page/2

"According to the NEWSWEEK Poll, nearly twice as many people call themselves conservatives as liberals (40 percent to 20 percent), and Republicans have dominated presidential politics—in many ways the most personal, visceral vote we cast—for 40 years. Since 1968, Democrats have won only three of 10 general elections (1976, 1992 and 1996), and in those years they were led by Southern Baptist nominees who ran away from the liberal label. "Is this a center-right country? Yes, compared to Europe or Canada it's obviously much more conservative," says Adrian Wooldridge, coauthor of "The Right Nation: Conservative Power in America" and Washington bureau chief of the London-based Economist."

If you do some additional research you will find that America:

Favors Gun ownership rights v Gun-control
Favors Pro-life v Abortion
Favors Tax Cuts v Increased Taxes
Favors smaller govt rather than larger
Favors equality for all v affirmative action
The list goes on and on in favor of a center-right nation.

Unbelievable
Obama faithless? If anything, the opposite is true.

As an atheist, I felt that Obama included waaaay too much in the way of the religious. And yet, I remain hopeful...

tim/mark
tim:

I really dont think the answer for the gop is to go further to the right. I disagree the country is center right..it's more center left.
the problem for repubs/cons is that they dont appeal to young people and minorities. it is being predicted by the u.s.census bureau that whites will be the minority in another 20 years or so..the gop is primaritly comprised of middle age and elderly whites located in the midwest and deep south. that doesnt bode well.

mark:

read the comments in here by th regs on prez obama. they honestly think the whole thing was a fluke perpetrated by the so-called MSM, as if they could "hypnotize" people into voting for obama thru biased reporting..which is total nonsense. if the majority of americans didnt think his policies were good for america then they would not have elected him potus.

ModMark
You said of how the late-night comedians and others will treat Obama now that he's president, "With all media today, it will be ratings driven".

I don't agree AT ALL.

If ratings - or by extension, profits - were the Holy Grail of the media, then why does MSNBC continue to have Keith Olbermann on even though he's a ratings disaster? He - and many other MSNBC personalities - continue to routinely insult conservatives, and MSNBC is paying the price for it big-time. As, in fact, has the network news of the Big 3, which employ anchors and others that also openly treat conservatives with contempt. Yet they're still on the air.

In fact, look at how Pravda aka The MSM as a whole is doing. It's dying - and yet its thanes still continue to treat conservatives with contempt, even as that approach has proven to be a disastrous business model.

Look at the Hollywood industry; at least when Bush was still in office, it produced films routinely insulting Bush/conservatives/Christians - almost all of which were box office disasters. Yet they still kept making them. Does that seem like a sound business model to you?

So, no, I don't agree with you. It appears that in Pravda aka The MSM, ideology trumps ratings/profits. And it will be the same with the likes of Stewart & Co. Even if there are great ratings in insulting Obama as they did Bush, if the Thought Police of the left tell them no, they'll heed them - even if their shows go down the tubes as a result.

You want Props, Left Angle!?
Is that was the issue is? That we haven't given Obama props for winning big? Well then, I will now single-handedly heal the rift between left and right:

GIVE OBAMA PROPS. HE WON HUGE THIS PAST ELECTION

There. Can we now get on the more serious issues, like whether his policies are good for America or not?

Yes Sir....Tell it like it is...........
Mr. Shapiro........

"The meaning of Obama’s “transformational moment” will become naked in the light of day; it will become obvious that Obama’s election was Americans’ superfluous attempt to move beyond race, not a broad mandate to remold the country."

very good....straight to the truth....kudos...

Left Angle
you said "currently the GOP is in pretty bad shape and if they dont adjust to the electorate and the changing times they are going to be stuck in the past and increasingly irrevelant as the minority."

The United States is still a center-right country, and is not in fact moving further left. Dems have done a remarkable job of re-packaging their product to seem more mainstream, though the ideology has not changed.
They did not change their beliefs, but changed the packaging and sales strategy. The GOP doesn't need to change its ideology, but rather it's messengers and the way the message is communicated.

The main fault with the current GOP is that they have watered down their product by moving further to the left than what most republicans want. Case in point is John McCain. He is a moderate republican that many conservative members of the GOP do not like because we feel he has compromised too much and has become more ideologically alligned with Democrats than Republicans. So, your theory is incorrect in that the GOP has been changing the product to more moderate in nature, yet they took a whipping. When Republicans run as conservatives, not moderates, they win. The pendulum will swing back toward the GOP when the GOP goes back to a strong conservative ideology rather than the current watered down version of moderate republicans.

Who needs an army for you?
People in Arkansas and Alaska seem to know more about the US than arrogant California transplants in Oregon.

"Ask any liberal leftard, only honkies can grow up, everyone else is constitutionally incapable of doing so (the leftards mean all minorities are retards) so telling a minority member to "grow up" is dreadfully insensitive."

You have never attended college with any conservatives, have you?

Whenever a member of a minority group is exposed to something he or she (or it) regards as the least bit offensive, even if the offense is based on illiteracy or ignorance of the meaning of a word on the part of the minority member, "niggardly" and "black hole" come to mind here, the left/liberals are all hot about how insensitively the minority is being treated.

Yet when a white male complains of being berated with incoherent vulgarities and spittle laden tirades, the white male is told to "grow up".

The left regards white males as being able to grow up and minorities as being retarded children, unable to grow up, and thus need to be treated with gentle compassion for their disabilities (caused by having too much melanin in their skins).

Shades of "White man's burden".

jdhfjdhf
Help me understand how
Obama failing will be good for this country. You THers really lead with your chins. Makes no sense. jdhfjdhf

======================

Most conservative Republicans don't want BO to fail on the economy or safety/foreign issues, "we *hope* he will *change*" his policy on these important issues. We DISAGREE on his ideology - which is Marxist.

We do not want BO to overstep the constitution, such as wealth redistribution, unbalanced tax/regulation, universal health care,etc... This is socialist Marxist ideology.

If the left would pause to read US history, and WHY we have a *republic* and not a pure democracy or communistic government - you'd know why we hope he fails on certain agendas.

He is dangerous to our current form of government.

mark: a response
arse whuppin is a colloquial term and it fits exactly what happened to the repubs/cons. obama won in a electoral college landslide and his victory had coattails extending the dems majority numbers in both houses of the u.s. congress. he defeated the
formidable clintons to win the dem prez nomination. what is even more impressive is this was done by a relative newcomer to the national scene.

yet you repubs/cons cannot give the man his props...keep right on misunderestimating him..lol

n: what's amazing is..
the repubs/cons in here remind of a prize fighter who gets ko'ed, wakes up and still thinks he WON the fight..lol

I know that politics is a pendulum in terms of party rule, but you have to admit that right now, currently the GOP is in pretty bad shape and if they dont adjust to the electorate and the changing times they are going to be stuck in the past and increasingly irrevelant as the minority. They some new younger up to date leadership.

Another point to consider:

If you are going to throw around grandiose themes of "arse-whupping", you might want to do the math first. Obama's margin of victory in the popular vote (approx. 7%) ranks about 26th in histroy - right in the middle of the road. Not quite the whupping majority you've convinced yourself of.

What else have you convinced yourself of...

Pride
"Pride goeth before a fall."
However, taking down his pride may take the USA down with it. The country has weathered adversity before. Can it do it again? I surely hope so.
It is my opinion that the people of the U.S. would fare better if they became more frugal, more thrifty and that more were working or willing to work.
How will repairing bridges and roads generate economic activity other than that related to the repair or construction? Will jobs be created that are not in the activities related to road or bridge building or repair? If so, how? Is there so much impairment of the movement of goods as to be a cause for the downturn? It didn't work back in the 1930's. I remember those times. Some buildings were built-post offices and other government buildings. The CCC planted some trees and blocked some gullies. The TVA built some dams that controlled some floods and produced some power. But the alphabet agencies did not end the downturn. It ended with our entry into WWII. We can't use getting into a war this time-we are already in two and many do not support either one.
One columnist suggests it was the deficit spending related to the war that ended the depression, but others suggest that it was the government being so busy with the war that it could not continue the practices that prolonged the Depression. There was a worsening in 1937 and 1938.
As for me I am opposed to debt-whether by individuals, cities, counties, states or Federal and also by businesses and by nation.
We owe money to China, Japan and oil country rulers and are sending scads of money to oil producing countries who use some of it to fund terrorists and to fund mosques and madrasas that preach and teach hatred of the West, especially the USA-also of Jews, Christians and anyone else who is not a radical Muslim. A lot of U.S. dollars are going to Mexico who is not much a friend to the U.S. They want to send their poor and their sick up here.

You crack me up but you are right. The problem is the GOP ALWAYS come back. Its funny but since FDR only one DEM prez has been elected to a 2nd term but the same things not true for most of the REP prez's....weird huh?

Sour Grapes from Sore Losers...
reading these pathetic quotes in here from the th regulars and their right wing brethren is quite revealing in what an awesomely thorough arse whuppin Prez Obama, the DNC, the Democratic Majority Congressional leadership and last but not least the MAJORITY of the american voting public put on the now OUT OF POWER MINORITY GOP.

Face it Prez Obama is POTUS and DEMS Control the U.S. Congress for the near future and possibly thru 2012 and beyond. the GOP is out of touch with mainstream america.

Chloe
AHHHHHHHHH Theres the elisits liberal attitude I love so much. What possible difference could it make how much I have to lose vs you? The fact remains I am in the best position to decide how the money I earn is best used in my life, not the government. It makes no difference if its $1 or a million but your pomposity is so adorable. I want him to fix those problems as well Chloe, the question is how does he intend to fix them?

Thank you, Mr. Shapiro!
One thing that has always bothered me about Mr. Obama was stated in your article.

"This inauguration, in Obama’s view, was about his personal elevation; his accession to the White House..."

I fear for this country and what he and the dummycrats will do to our economy and military.

Chloe
Firstly, where were your "sad, sad, sad" sentiments when the move-on crowd was cheering every Bush (perceived) failure?

Secondly, your logic is fatally flawed. If one (i.e. a conservative) believes that Obama's policies are anathema to a successful and prosperous America, then the opposite of your argument is true - a failure for Obama is a victory (long term) for America.

Well intentioned people can differ over policy and which ones are better for America, but try to be more intellectually honest before slinging the "traitor" term around. Especially if you were one of those crying over its use when Bush was president.

Mod Mark
You said of Jon Stewart, "Stewart is a comedian and will go after anyone for a laugh" and "Last night he was ridiculing Obama...."

And as soon as some prominent black politicans and/or entertainers denounce Stewart - and any other "comedians" or others in the industry who might follow his lead in the future, such as Steven Colbert, Dave Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, etc. - as racists for treating our first black president so, you watch how quickly that will stop.

n
you are silly. I've probably got more to 'lose' than you do, and I believe that he's going to fix all that is wrong with our country.

I see Chloe's off
her Zanax today. Chloe, for the love of God, forget splitting the drug down the center scoring line. Take the whole thing and go back to your addled liberal sleep.

I wish Obama would stop
telling Americans that we're responsible for granting those who don't want to work a living. Or responsible for pulling these two-bit sh*thole countries out of the swamp they've made for themselves. To listen to a Dem ramble on and on about responsibilty makes me very nervous -- makes me think he's priming everyone that he's going to nationalize an s-load of stuff.

Chloe
You are right! We are VERY afraid of Obama...afraid that he intends to suck every last hard earned dollar out of our pockets so he can "redistribute" them. Be afraid be very afraid.

Righties are traitors
they want Obama and our country to fail. They hope for a big terrorist attack so they can go after Obama. Sad, sad, sad.

LOL
Shapiro is a blogger and he judges Obama? The right is so afraid of Obama. Very funny.

Governing?
Everywhere I go, I see folks talking about how Obama won't be able to meet the test of governing and how he's not going to be up to the job.

Those opinions are based on the premise that Obama sincerely intends to carry-out the duties and responsibilities of the POTUS...with the best interest of the country in mind.

I think he has no such intentions.

What will be so hard about him working with a Democratic Congress to raise taxes?

Will he not be up to the task of working with Democrats to confiscate our money for Universal Health Care? What will be so hard about that?

What will be so hard about ignoring the terrorist threat around the world, but yet popping-up to give press conferences with empty rhetoric about all the supposed cooperation we're now getting from our allies and how much progress we are supposedly making?

Will it really be that hard six months from now, to address the nation and inform us that the economy is still in dire straits because of 8 years of the failed Bush economic policies?

And how hard will it be to budget billions more for Education and claim it is an investment in our future?

There is nothing difficult about what this man intends to do: Play President, make speeches, get his picture taken and taking-in all the continuous fawning over him by the masses of rubes. What's so hard about that?

Take it easy, give him a chance
My impression is that this article takes a cynical view of what David Brooks has already said about Obama (sorry I don't have the link). His point is that Obama has several positive things in his favor, but Brooks has a concern about Obama's significant ego.

My impression is that indeed Obama's hubris could be his undoing, but as of day one of his presidency... he is still a force to be reckoned with and should be given at least some benefit of the doubt... for now.

In my mind, it is obviously far too soon to be saying the president will be brought down.

Obama's baloney
A recurrent theme in Obama's speeches is that he wants to transform the U.S. from a bad country into a good country. The problem is - the U.S. is already a good country! Typical of liberals, he minimizes our country's accomplishments, dismisses our good qualities, and sees evil in most everything we have done. Thus, he will take credit for "saving" and "transforming" us when, in fact, we need neither.

A real first!
Although I admire Ben's quick march up the journalistic ladder, I've always found myself noticing too much "youth" coming through in the writing (hard to describe precisely, but I'm sure many can understand exactly what I mean).

HOWEVER, this is the first article of his that just resonates completely - honest, deep, right to the point. No fluffery, no over-dramatizations (i.e. none of the pitfalls of "college" writing)!

Kudos to you Mr. Shapiro. Your seniors at TH whom have had so much trouble knowing what to say/do about their feelings for Obama can take a lesson from your analysis.

Don't worry
the honeymoon will soon be over. The media need someone to pick on and pretty soon it will be Obama. This honeymoon can't last forever. I'm no conservative but all this gaga over a man gets old after a while. People seem to forget he's human.

By the way, I don't like Emanuel either he seems like the type to be a bit unethical-I just don't trust him.

Charles
"Ask any liberal leftard, only honkies can grow up, everyone else is constitutionally incapable of doing so (the leftards mean all minorities are retards) so telling a minority member to "grow up" is dreadfully insensitive."

I hope others in Arkansas are capable of forming a coherent thought.

History of heaven on earth ...
You are right up to a point. Historically, when charismatic leaders of the far left persuasion find that their programs don't work, then they identify enemies who are the reason for their failure. Kulaks in Russia, Jews in Germany, the capitalists, etc. etc.

The habit of demonization has begun with the cries against Bush. Americans now accept Keith Olberman, Jon Stewart, Michael Moore, Oliver Stone as "legitmate voices". Obama's far left constituency can easily be persuaded that Rush Limbaugh, Republicans, and other subhuman subversives are the cause of the failure of their plans. If Obama is elected to a second term with majority Democrat support in the two houses ... watch out!

Ineptly designed site.
Forgot to save to notepad before the last submission.

“we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world’s resources without regard to effect.”

So much room for meddling with other countries (and how is he going to avoid "propping up dictators" by giving them more money to steal?)

Also a lot of room for destroying the economy so we cannot afford to buy anything.

“set aside childish things.”

LOL. ROTFLMAO.

Ask any liberal leftard, only honkies can grow up, everyone else is constitutionally incapable of doing so (the leftards mean all minorities are retards) so telling a minority member to "grow up" is dreadfully insensitive.

I'm an insensitive person. Deal with it.

What will happen when government fails?
I don't know, but it is going to be fun watching the libs fall face first in the pile of crap they have created.

Well said my friend!

I agree with you 100%

John
You miss my point. It already has gone to his head, as it did in every president who preceeded him. A useful analogy is the quarterback of a pro football team. You want a guy who has a big head and the self-assuredness that he can lead the team and get the job done. A milquetoast, can't make up his mind, no courage of his convictions guy just won't cut it.

What I was trying to point out is that it is not whether or not his ego is larger than life, but what he intends to do to or for us. I'm not getting any warm fuzzies about the for us part from Obama, but get a disinct feeling I know what he wants to do to us.

Thats good koolaid
I don no what hubris do mean but cept fer alla big words i surely do like alla you's librals makin sure us ignert folks don't get to uppity and go's ta thinkin we's got rites to talk or nothin.

I’s got news for all of you nitwits that thought that making Barack Obama our presdent in chef meant the end of racism and the beginnins of racial harmoney. Earlham College jus hosted Aaron McGruder, the idjit who created the racist comic strip “The Boondocks” who said that Barack Obama was not actually a black man (do dat mean that we whiteys kin now call Aferkin Merikins black agin?). The reason that Obama do not qualfy fer bein a black man he says is cause none of Barack’s antcestors was ever slaves. Jus goes to show you, Aferkin Merikins do not want to let it go. Nothin dis country ever do will be enuff. Who’da thunk it? I betja that within 6 months Jesse (I have a nightmare) Jackson or Al (Tawana Brawley who?) Sharpton will be on the tv tellin us jus how racist we still be. So I’d advise that you get all of the warm fuzzy feel goodness out of dis you kin whilst it lasts, cause it won’t last long. Whoops gots ta go. My koolaid is gettin warm.

Bo was elected because half of the PEOPLE of the US don't take the time to look up the facts. Many lies have been told about GWB and they sure didn't bother to investigate BO's past either.

This same half of the people who have complained for 8 years without presenting solutions, have already given a pass to BO on all sorts of issues.

Intellectually honest people can admit to faults on both sides, conservatives FREELY chat about GWB's faults, but I ask have you ever seen a democrat question or express dislike for BO's connections and faults? I haven't.

Democrats called Bush a "alcoholic" that would revert back to alcoholism. They claimed he had a metal problem, they called him inarticulate. They called him a chimp. He is from a decent family, and that made him automatically "privileged" according ,to the left.

Meanwhile BO smokes, drinks admits to doing drugs, he is famous for his "errr" moments, God forbid anyone mention his large ears, he hangs out with murders, terrorists, crooks, thugs, and racists. BO had donors and backers to get him through college, a small mansion in Chicago, he and Michell live wealthy, yet he's not considered privileged by the left?

The hypocrisy is astounding.

The neverending campaign continues
As a rule, Inaugural addresses tend to be optimistic. Obama's was more of the same stuff we've heard for 2 years about How bad it is to live in America. Instead of instilling confidence in the American people of their ability to rise above the current conditions, Obama just made a list of campaign promises again. Instead of showing confidence in the American People, he shows he has confidence only in Himself and Bigger government.

Add to this the fact that his lapdogs in the media have set him so high on his pedestal, he has nowhere to go now but Down.

The sad part is, he will take us all down with him.

Enjoy the party while you can liberals, when you see your paychecks shrink or stop due to the overbearing government of the democrats, you won't be partying for long.

You can take that to the bank, Until the govt. takes over the bank of course.

Steve
Harold expressed an opinion, how is it you dont "believe" him? Is he making it up? You may not "agree" with him but surely we can believe he thinks Bush made few mistakes if he wrote it!

BTW I think Bush made very few mistakes too.

Mark
The fact is that anybody who wants to be President has something wrong with them. The only candidate I could vote for without some reservation would be one who is not running.

That said, Obama has spoken about this directly. He is cognizant of the irony involved in any person who runs for President claiming to be humble. On that score, I think he's a lot less likely to let this go to his head.

Harold
I am a staunch conservative but you got to be realistic. President Bush did MANY good things but he also expanded the federal government, more then anyone else in history. The department of Homeland Security being among one of the biggest expansions. I'm not saying we didnt need it but I suggest we already have the FBI and the CIA who are charged, respectively, with protectiing us domestically and internationally. All he did was add one more federal program that we will be paying for for the rest of time. Believe me I would much rather have President Bush back but he could have done more to help republicans retain the white house.

Hubris
Truth be told, it takes big cojones for anyone, be they liberal or conservative, black or white or any shade in between to think they can take on the job of POTUS and accomplish anything of meaning.
I don't particularly begrudge Obama for his ego 9although his smugness can be irksome), I despise him for his positions on the substantive issues of our time. GWB has a large ego, so did Clinton, GW's daddy and every president of the last century. In fact, the only truly humble man (and even that's questionable) to occupy the office was the first. At least he had to be persuaded to take on the task.
Rather than debate what any of these people think of themselves, it is much more useful to debate what they think of you and me. In my opinion, Obama sees all of us as sheep to be fleeced, and right now it is way cold outside. I'm not willing to give up my freedom for any man's aggrandizement or to satisfy some inner urge to "heal the world". Are you?

for Harold E.
Harold E. writes: "Believe me, George Bush didn't make any mistakes during his 8 years in Office!"

Sorry. I do not believe you.

Help me understand how
Obama failing will be good for this country. You THers really lead with your chins. Makes no sense.

And BTW Ben Shapiro is a columnist, not a journalist. There's a hug difference.

What Bush made mistakes?
People never cease to amaze me by repeating what they hear all of the time. Believe me, George Bush didn't make any mistakes during his 8 years in Office! To his credit, we are rid of a murdering Dictator in Iraq, along with a majority of his cohorts. Iraq and Afghanistan are both free of tiranny and able to self govern. We have had 7.5 years of Terrorism free living in this country. Our borders need a lot of attention, but you can't lay 100% of the blame for that on Bush's shoulders. When we went to War in Iraq, Bush gave our Legislative bodies the same Inteligence that he had. All of the Liberals in the House and Senate voted to send the Military into Iraq, all except Robert (KKK) Byrd, D-WVa. Tell me where George Bush made a mistake instead of using generalities! You still speak English, (For awhile longer anyway!) You still worship in the Church of your choice. But believe me, in a few short years all of that will be gone, thanks to Junior Obama...

GREAT SPEECH?
YOU HAVE TO GIVE THIS GUY CREDIT,HE CAN MAKE GOOD SPEECHES!BUT! YOU CAN BE A GREAT ORATOR AND
STILL BE A DUFUS.

George Will's ranting against McCain
is an example of the irresponsible journalists who advised their fellow citizens to gamble the nation on an untested, possibly psychotic, "concept candidate."

Remember how George Will ranted against McCain because of McCain's criticism of Chris Cox, the now totally discredited head of the SEC? According to George Will, insubstantial Obama was better than the battle tested leadership of John McCain.

Perhaps my fellow bloggers would care to compare and contrast the projected harms to the nation likely to follow from the leadership of John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barak Obama.

In the case of McCain, even if he has been prone to compromise with democrats, why would his leadership be worse than turning the president over to a delusional man like Obama?

In the case of Hillary, even if she is seen as a shrew and a harpy, why would her leadership be worse than turning the president over to a head case like Obama?

Along with Keith Obermann and Chris Matthews, George Will has a lot of explaining to do as events unfold over the next year.

The Difference
What makes a professional as opposed to a rookie is that a Pro makes great plays and makes astounding and memorable speeches. A rookie will most likely stumble and fall even though they telegraph their actions of failure. First speeches won't be memorable nor worthy of historic nature. A pro will most likely shrug off defeat and go on, inspiring those that wish to follow. Give an amateur time to season until the real consequences come to light. An amateur would turn the other cheek until the next time. This is the real world ,not a practice session.

GOLD MEDAL ARTICLE!
THANKS SHAPIRO!

We don't want to be like the Bush haters
My god...
Why do so many Town Hall pundits act no better than pin-head liberals.

Mr. Shapiro, is your goal to merely preach to the choir, or actually persuade independents that conservative values and policies are better?

Bush-haters never let up, even once.
Are we going to pay them back in kind?

Taking cheap shots at Obama's character on his first work day as President does nothing to further our cause

Next time, address substantive policy issues.

Nohn
Got one word for you D E C A F. First of all torturing who? Terrorists? Specifically, which constitutional right has been taken from you? Which one of YOUR conversations has the government listened in on? As to the banks Barney Frank and his pals pushed banks into loaning to high risk individuals. Lower taxes is good why dont you just turn your paycheck overto the government. Lousianna did nothinig to help their own citizens so now it becomes every elses's responsibility huh?

President Bush could have done a 1000 things differently or better I agree but thats still no reason to be rude and boo him. I'd say I cant wait till BO goes but generally only the liberals engage in such foollish behavior

Baraka and Sufi Sainthood
I don't advocate fear. But, eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. We must regain the House and Senate in 2010 and we must be prepared to impeach Obama as soon as respected experts can attest that his psychotic delusional state is rendering him incapable of performing the office of the Presidency. We can only hope we won't be too late.

Thanks to the MSM, a majority of voters have gambled the family farm on a single throw of the dice. They've gambled America's future on a man who has never been tested, a man who has never been responsible for the execution of any kind of plan.

God willing, the gamble may yet pay off. But, what responsible head of family would gamble the family farm on a long shot? What responsible journalist would encourage his fellow citizens to gamble with the fate of the nation in such a manner? Was this a gamble undertaken after prayerful reflection, or was it just the product of impatience and resentment? If the latter, we are very much at risk indeed.

Corndog
You got it right. Such an arrogant, self-absorbed creature has never been known before...I thought Billy-Bob Clinton was bad, but he doesn't hold a candle to this one.

The baraka psychosis
Just as George Bush was driven by a desire to redeem the virility of the Bush family name from the effeminate image of his father, who was portrayed carrying a purse by the popular Oliphant cartoons, so Obama is driven by a desire to fulfill an imagined destiny as a Sufi Saint. And so, he must see himself as superhuman and semi-divine -- in short, a demigod.

The resulting psychosis may become more pronounced as he moves from a world of words into a world of action.

Up until now, Obama has equated the mere expression of opinion with the execution of detailed plans in the real world of international finance and military power. In a world of mere words, it has been easy to keep congruence between his fantasy world and reality.

Congruence will not be so easy when facts on the ground interfere with actual implementation of lofty rhetoric.

Conservativemom
Thank you. Change for change sake usually ends up in very poor outcomes. Most people who are that desperate for change usuaklly make decisions before they have thought out all the consequences. I fear thats whats happened here.

Why are we still talking about his color
Martin Luther King Day just passed. King wanted men judged by their character, not their color. Anne made a comment that implies the only reason people criticize Obama's speech is they can't stand to see a confident black man. Yet, most of these same people would criticize the speech if it was white liberal making it. It doesn't have to do with color, except for maybe 5% of Americans who are actually racist. The rest of us are sick and tired of racial politics. I'm speaking as a brown-skinned person whose parents came here from Asia.

Juan Williams (a black commentator who I really respect - he is liberal, but honest) wrote an article saying we should not hesitate to criticize Obama merely because he is black, that would be condescending. We should treat him the same way we would a white person in his place.

I read a transcript of Obama's speech, and it does seem hubristic. I also didn't like his criticisms of Bush, which I thought were beneath a President. Bush, in handing over power, acted with class. He has avoided saying negative things about Obama, just as he avoided denigrating Clinton. Liberals may think this is because there is nothing negative about Obama, but in fact, it shows Bush's basic decency.

Yes, Bush has made many mistakes, but he did keep the country safe and he does care about the dignity of the office. Obama needs to remember - it's not all about him. He was elected to SERVE the people - ALL AMERICANS, including whitey. As a Christian, Obama should remember that the greatest serves, as our Lord served his disciples and the multitudes - he fed them, healed them, and even washed their feet. He didn't elevate himself.

Baraka and Sufi Sainthood
It's more than Hubris. It's psychosis.

One cannot overestimate the corrosive effect on a young man's imagination of being named and then deserted by an abandoning Muslim father who didn't value his mother.

As Obama well knows, the term "baraka" is not just an African word meaning merely "blessing." It is not just the a name sharing a root with the Jewish name "Barak."

In the context of this man's origins and parentage, "baraka" is a term applied to Sufi Moslem Saints. It is not just "blessing" in the passive sense. In this context, "baraka" is a power to channel God in conveying blessings (or miracles) on the faithful.

No doubt this troubled, abandoned child has spent many an hour musing over the significance of his given name as he searched for an identity. Isn't it inevitable that he would conjure up for himself delusions of grandeur, a megalomaniac desire to be the savior of the world?

n @ 11:36
good one - excellent point...

Hey Gang
I just got my hands on obambi's agenda. Here it is:

- Campaign for 2012 Presidential Election.
- Buy 2012 Presidential Election.
- Write memoirs.
- Pose for Mount Rushmore carving.

nmi
You could not be more right. President Bush presided over the largest expansion of the federal government in history but it pales in comparison to what BO has in mind. I can understand change but does changing from the frying pan into the fire REALLY make sense?

Obama
sounded like he was being coronated for King of the World....but the leftists always did like the one world one government slop.

He also does not care about whether government works or not, or he would admit the government is the equivalent of the 800lb man trying to run the Boston Marathon.

Disgrace...
Rahm Emanuel is a disgrace, as is his boss. This is the caliber of people Hussein is putting in place -- ain't that reassuring? Emanuel is as classy as Blago with his incessant dropping of the F-bomb every other word. Stellar individuals...
_______________________________

“we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world’s resources without regard to effect.”

Oh, really? The US supplies money, food, supplies, etc. to every area of the world in need and suddenly we are 'indifferent' to 'suffering outside our borders?' And, our consumption of the world's resources leads to wealth, growth, job creation, etc. as well as comfort. Hussein and cronies want us to give up all that we have and become third world, too. What do you think the thermostat in his Chicago mansion was set on? I bet his family lived VERY comfortably...

Truth be told....

With all the vehement condemnation of Pres. Obama -- before he has served one day on the job! -- surely it must dawn on all his critics (and supporters alike) that it wasn't merely "a dumb electorate" which voted to make this man President.

Could it be that it was the eight-year inept, disastrous performance of George Walker Bush & Co. which has left our country in shambles, and convinced the nation's voters that by comparison no one could be worse in the Presidency.

Truth be told, it was George Walker Bush who elected Pres. Barack Hussein Obama.

WELCOME TO THE IDIOCRACY
When the "seas recede" and the "spectre of climate change" disappears, I will personally send Mr. Obama a check for everything I have.

oops..they are going to take that anyway to fix the plight of people who do not work as hard as me.

sorry...was havin' a BRAINBURP!

ROWDY BOOTS

Georgetwin
At least there's ONE consolation right now for conservatives: since we're now the "outs" in Washington DC, WE get to go on offense against the present power structure in DC, and now the liberals have to play defense. Let's see if they're up to it!

To judge by the posts I've seen from Hal Donahue since he returned from Obama's coronation - oops, sorry, I meant inauguration - there must have been a lot of weed smokers in the crowd there in Washington DC yesterday, and the emissions from their wacky terbacky must have addled the brains of those there in attendance, including Hal - assuming, of course, that it was possible for the brains of the Obama worshippers there to be able to get MORE addled than they ALREADY were when they left for the event.

You said, "Accept it and try to help keep America great instead of sitting in your lonely basements listening to Rush and writing angry comments on TH and HuffPost".

When's the last time you got out of YOUR basement, guy? The kind of people who listen to Rush DON'T write angry comments on HuffPo - BECAUSE HUFFPO WON'T LET THEM! If you'd get out of YOUR basement sometime, you'd learn that the left-wing blogs like HuffPo rigidly censor and block any inputs that challenge the liberal orthodoxy that reigns on sites like that. Where have YOU been? Oh, I forget: in your OWN lonely basement!

The world has changed
and we must change with it.

How has the world changed?

How do we have to change to be like the rest of the world?

Who in particular are we going to copy?

The world communicates quicker. We lead in this area.
The world's merchants sell things to other parts of the world.(division of labor)
Yes we do that.

The world wants to steal our wealth and we should give it to them. Oh!

How about they try free market economics and getting rid of their tyranical forms of government. Maybe that is change that would work.

Obama's ideas are are old and looosers!!!!!

He's an Actor
Mr. Reagan was a former actor who became President, Obama is a former street organizer turned actor.

He's going to act to what he thinks is "Presidential" and speak to how he thinks a President should speak. For the next four years we'll see him popping-up in front of the cameras spouting-out more of his cliches and telling us how much progress is being made...but we've a long way left to go.

And besides all the damage that he will do with the senseless rebuilding of schools or other such worn-out and failed notions of "reinvesting in our future" and destroying our Health Care system and creating regulation after regulation; tax after tax...he'll be popping-up in front of the cameras and jetting around the world putting on his show of importance.

And all we can hope for, is in four years an adult will be back in the White House to clean-up the mess made by the little kid turned loose in the candy store!

JDHFJDHF
Thank you. You reinforced my ability to read people. I knew you would be too smart to take the bait but I dare say you were well restrained in your comments. As for work its YOU!!!!???? The one liberal who actually has a job!? Its nice to meet you!!!

After all, we Americans HATE our leaders to be confident, measured and thoughtful. lg

Like Bush was? Despite policy differences -- you have admit Bush didn't base hard decisions on popularity polls.

We shall see if BO can do the same. He's already ticked off a few far lefties. Now he has to SAY what his plans are in detail. Let's see how long he keeps that high rating.

Great column, Ben Shapiro!!
I think that anyone who tries to think critically about Obama will be getting the bum's rush from his worshippers. You have many who agree with your keen insight and perception into the man behind the "kind eyes!" I'm speaking of all of those TV advertisements selling collector's plates featuring Obama's "kind eyes" that always just crack me up!!
Thanks for dwelling in the real world where reason and principledl analysis exist, and truth doesn't take a holiday!!

Global redistribution of wealth
Sounds like he's running for the World Emporer election. Political arguments no longer apply? He and his ideas are brand new?

When do we bow down to his image and get our global barcode?

Answer to Lone
Ben is a journalist, Lone. you sound just like my liberal sister who called what Gov Palin spoke about, when she was selected as Senator McCains's running, as lies. the fact is, Lone that liberals scream lies and innunendo, without checking the facts.

Print out a copy of Pres. Obama's speech, get a red pen, and a copy of Ben's column and find the quotes for yourself. This is something you should do before attacking someone. Mr. Shapiro has been a columnist since age 16. It is soemthing he does well. I can assure you, that he checked the quotes and added them into his article correctly. Your capital letters are your screams at Mr. Shapiro. Scraming is wht liberals do well, as if it changes the facts.

America is a great nation. We already have a Savior, His name is Jesus. While I've switched to faith, let me add, that we serve an awesome and mighty God who will judge each and eeryone of us. Ben will answer for Ben, President Obama will anwer for himself ("Tell, me son, why didn't you walk out of that church when your Pastor used My name in vain?")I will answer for myself, and, you will answer for yourself.

It will only serve you well to read information from both sides and then reach your conlusions. Not a bad idea, huh?

BARACK OBAMA & THE FICTION OF GREATNESS
Authentically great men have no need for the symbols, imagery, style and legacies of other great men. True greatness is original, innovative, genuine and real and needs no models to imitate. Who did Lincoln imitate in his presidential campaign, or in the period leading up to his inauguration? Whose Bible did he use to swear him in as President? Who did the Roosevelts imitate and ape? Who was Kennedy's model? Who did Reagan emulate? Answer: No one. These men were among the great ones of history and walked in no one's shadow. Even George Bush as he rose to power drew strength from his principles, convictions and ideals, and little from his predecessors. But not Barack Obama. Never in the history of presidential politics, never in a campaign or in the pre-inaugural stage, has a candidate or President-elect leaned so heavily on the great men of the past. Why has Obama been doing this? Is it simply out of reverence for these men? Is he paying homage to them? Is that the reason? Or is it because of his deficiencies? Is it because he's just a conventional liberal politician with a dash of charisma and a bit of charm but with no exceptional qualities? With little intellectual and moral worth? A mediocre man with the gift of gab but with no real greatness in him? Who desperately wants to appear great settling for the image instead of the reality and the qualities that go with it?

Wow! This author shoots the heavy artillery! Great column! All I can say after reading it is: Pow! Bang! Kaboom!
Sounds like a Batman episode, but if the shoe fits, baby, it fits.

JUST ANOTHER POLITICAL SPEECH

While listening to a speaker most people can tell if the speech came from the heart. I did not hear this, only a well written speech with hints of a John Kennedy delivery. However, Obama now has his chance to prove himself as have 43 other men before him. I only hope that he loves his country as much as George Bush does.

Any of us here who respect George Bush never doubted for one minute that he loved this county. So why do I make the statement that I hope Obama does also? Because there are still so many unanswered questions about this man that still gnaws at me.

Wow you guys
Okay George Bush...generally a good guy, with a good soul but overwhelmed by events. Probably too loyal to some staffers especially some who had their own agendas.

And what's wrong w/ having renewed hope and optimism because we have a new president?

You guys need to take a chill pill, go to see a funny movie (Yes Man has it moments). As for me, I gotta get back to work.

Hubris
Reminds me of the scene in 300 when Leonidas discovers Xerxes hubris and taunts him. Xerxes failed.

he is not a black so called man
B O is a fool and every day he makes a bigger one of himself. He is kidding himself if he thinks everyone loves him which he seems to insinuate, his fall is going to be hugh. Anyone who follows him looks thru rose colored glasses or for a pun black colored ones. he is like our priest who are always chiding us like we are children and never really have anything useful to tell us. He is only part black and he even fools them. He has used people all his life.

Funny you should mention growing up..We are the grownups in the soap opera called Obamamania.
Libs like yourself have chronic cases of arrested development and as noted previously most libs haven't a clue. They just heard a nice sounding platitude and thought "hey, that sounds really reeeellly gooooood. I think I wanna go vote because 'YES We Can!!!' Uh what was that we can do? Oh yeah, CHANGE yeah that's goood. DUH What are we gonna Change to'
Oh it don't matter, we are all gonna be rich,
our mortgages gonna be paid, car gassed and besides...did you see his pecs?" In short, you are the shallowest of thinkers, like children.

In case you didn't get the memo
Americans are tired of the conservative/liberal and Democratic/Republican labels. It's time, as our new president said in his address (and Paul said to the Corinthians) to give up our childish ways that includes name calling when you dodn't agree w/ someone.

I'm sick of Obama insulting America
We are the most generous country in the world and have been giving so much to the world. This man is totally disrespectful of the United States' massive contribution to the well-being of the world, and I am already sick of him, just one day later. He is a blight on the country and needs to be vociferously opposed whenever he slams America. I hate that he disparages America; it just breaks my heart that someone so privileged as he has been his entire life (that food-stamp story is just a ploy that works on weak minds) has no sense of the long history of this country's felt obligation to the world. Shame on Obama! Shame on him.

Success
I want whoever is in the oval office to be successful I just dont want them to be successful at the expense of our national security or our national prosperity. No one should apologize for disagreeing with what Obama has planned for solving our problems. I for one havent heard anything from him that I think will help us be safe and prosperous in the future. Thats why I didnt vote for him! We do have a right to disagree.

Jerseyvet &others
How sad it is to be a "Loser". President Obama will succeed because the "World" has deemed it. Americans such as you are a poor example to the world. The great thing about America today is; We Don't Need YOU!!! "US" will see you when we see ya...

jdhfjdhf
Dont take away our fun! You pitch fork wielding, torch burning mob of libs had your fun for 8 years with Bush...its our time now!!!

jdhfjdhf
We apologize for disturbing your slumber.

The Peter Principle
Kudos to Ben Shapiro! Absolutely the best summary I've read of the inauguration and President Obama's intentions. I hoped I was wrong when I advised friends that Obama would be a bad choice for president.

Unfortunately, conservative TownHallers, like myself, are right about this president but we may have seriously underestimated his level of incompetence.

Are we witnessing the Peter Principle in action?

My laugh of the day
Take off your tin foil hats folks. The sky is not falling and America has not fallen into Muslim hands. We just have a new Democratic president. Accept it and try to help keep America great instead of sitting in your lonely basements listening to Rush and writing angry comments on TH and HuffPost.Get a job, volunteer to help others, expand your horizons. Grow up.

Socialist
Its clear Obambi is a socialist. It seems as though he intends to do everything he can to expand the role of government into every aspect of the economy and the lives of Americans. He believes the government knows better then you do what you need. Whats most scary is he thinks he will be able to "talk" to terrorists and they will suddenly love us. They will be the only ones not memerized by Obama.

Ben nailed it
I have been asking people how Obama could write not one, but two, autobiographies about himself before the age of 40? And to tout what? His every thought about himself? To what end? "Greased by affirmative action"? You betcha. He won't release his transcripts or his thesis, and as president of Harvard Law Review, he never published a note. I guess he was the diversity candidate of the other review members. Who said the people who go to Yale and Harvard are smart? (Or, as liberals would have it, EVERYONE who is a student there is smart, except Bush, who went to both.) His inagural speech did show a lack of faith in the American people and the American constitution. I don't think it was coincidence that he fumbled the oath of office. A sign of things to come. As for being able to blame others, this sounds like Hitler blaming the Germans for not being great enough to achieve his goals for them, right before he immolated himself and his new bride. Creepy.

Old-n-Grey & Say "Goodnight"
While I am not prepared at this time to yet draw that conclusion, this unprecedented rise to power of so less a qualified personage bears close watching.

I cannot get the line from Daniel 11:32 out of my mind.

"He shall seduce with flattery those who violate the covenant; but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action."

If nothing else, the precedent has been set and because of our lack of Biblical knowledge, we have accepted it. If he isn't the "man of lawlessness" he has at least set the stage for him in the public consciousness.

We are living in interesting times.

You got it right
PBO's is the attitude of the inexperienced and the untried who think they know it all and can do it all because they have never tried and failed. My girlfriend's son is fresh out of high school and he has all of the answers, too. The real problem is why or how so many people bought in.

Why he will not "fail"
The same machine that brought him to power will not allow "failure" to be defined, just as they have not allowed qualifications to be defined, except as pertaining to their candidate.

THE TRUTH
Ben Shapiro, YOU HIT IT ON THE NAIL! THANK YOU,THANK YOU

Hubris?
My mommy told me it's good to be conservative since we inherited all our money and didn't have to work a day in our lives. There should be no taxes on all rich people who inherited all our money...just like daddy.

Hubris?
Hubris? You're funny. We just got through eight years of the president who defined hubris. The man you said would go down as the greatest since Lincoln with his brilliant domestic policy (working overtime to make sure every failed CEO got his severance package) and his brilliant foreign deal ( we don't need help we'll fund this whole rebuilding process by our selfs...not the CEOs, but the middle class). Hubris? You're funny. Cheney's middle name is hubris.

Ben
President Obama's speech was John Kennedy's speech of 1960. If you were "Deflated",you might try unloading some of the "Hate" and "Prejudice" you possess. In a championship series no inspiring should be necessary. That is,if you are a true player. I can tell you're not an athlete, but use your imagination. I saw people picking up paper on the mall. It would appear that some came to play, while others came to "Whine". You are a "Bench" player, who will never see the game. Sorry Ben or is that Ben is SORRY?

Lone
When you place caps on many of your sentences, it reminds me of small children that scream to get heard by their elders. If your arguments are based upon fact, italics are not necessary. I learned that in first grade.

Obama
He swore to uphold the constitution, but yet he made all these promises where the federal government will get involed that are prohibited by the constitution.

Sorry but he is an empty punk suit who is full of himself.

I can not beleive how stupid our nation has become.

Erectile dysfunction CURED!
Looks like we're in for an 8 year orgasm, judging by the reception of the crowd to the messiah. Unfortuneately, yesterday's activities gave me stomach virus symptoms.I'm still queasy this morning.
Kindel and Old and Grey everything you said was true. But so many don't see it. They're uninformed..that has to be the answer. I work with people, college educated, some with masters, who didn't even know about Obama's parents and that he was half white. One person had never heard of Jeremiah Wright. Some thought his mother was moving into the white house with them. These are supposed to be informed people. But like so many, they have jumped on the hate George Bush bandwagon and see nothing wrong with that arrogant man formerly known as Senator Obama.
Watching Obama speak should contain a warning: Kool Aid contains Viagra.
I'll never understand what I have witnessed since last Spring.

OBAMA, LINCOLN & THE IMAGE OF GREATNESS
Who desperately wants to appear great and will settle for its image over the reality and the qualities that go with it?

Old-n-grey gets it right!
In reading this fellow's comments, I can't help but be reminded of the words contained in the Book of Revelations. This 'citiizen of the world' does regard America as but a stepping stone and podium from which to mount his next big campaign...The scene on the National Mall and just about everywhere else yesterday (well, maybe not in Montana...) illustrated the mass and myopic spell under which at least 53% of the electorate have succumbed. 'Care to guess how far he could have gone yesterday just by asking for it?...the adoring and swooning public seems ready to let him lead us anywhere, even down the wrongest of roads, as it were. This much power is more than dangerous, it's downright terrifying. Be very afraid, and pray that there is some backbone left in our houses of Congress to stand up to this man. He clearly wants to leave his stamp on not just the USA, but upon the world, and for all time ...
Is this stamp the "mark of the beast," as mentioned in Revelations?

Be very afraid...
It's in the American nature to be optimistic, to be forward thinking, to get up and try again...but this guy has talked himself into a job for which he is most ill-equipped. If he fails, it will be his failure, but he will be the last one that he blames or calls upon to accept the responsibility of failure...This man is a wannabee. I wrote this many times during the longest of all campaigns, and I'll write it again here...If his intent was to rouse the nation to a higher cause and calling with his inaugural, he didn't quite get it done.
There were several 'echoes" of January 20, 1961
in his selected words and phrases, but there was neither President Kennedy's passion nor patriotic resolve behind them. Much as he wanted to soar with the likes of eagles, he merely flapped his wings (or was it his gums) without leaving the ground ... Whoever this man was who took the oath of office yesterday, one thing is clear, as Lloyd Bentsen once so famously put it, "...You're no Jack Kennedy." ...Alas, 'more t'is the pity, too...

His eye is not on the Sparrow
Obama does indeed not care about the American populous as he so piously suggests over and over, his eye is on a higher platform for himself. This man will purposefully neuter the USA so that he can then merge this country with the rest of the EU mindset. It is his plan from the beginning. He will surrender the wealth of USA to the United Nations crowd and tell us that it is in the interest of fairness. In the process he becomes great in the eyes of the world.

This world has both admired and abhorred the power of America and will provide a standing ovation for Obama's pruning of the power and influence of this once-great nation. His eye is upon becoming a world leader, with his term as President of the USA as a mere stepping stone. He is more than willing to sacrifice America for his popularity abroad.

This Obama fellow has a distinct advantage in negotiating with the Muslims who seek the end of Western civilization because he will be able to remind them that he was raised a Muslim and that he believes the Koran. To them, in their culture and to their way of thinking, he has "infiltrated" the Western World and will now help them achieve their goals of world domination. He will appease them for a time while they gather behind him, never forgetting their Islamic goals. They will feel that their god is using Obama to help them achieve their goal of domination and they will be willing to play along. He can claim to the Christian world that he attended a (so called) Christian Church and with his words he will appease those who don't recognize him for what he is. He can be black to the black and white to the white. He will say what the people want to hear and will lead those who are desperate for guidance. He has no conscience as you and I know conscience. He will become a popular leader of the "world".

Barack Hubris Obama
Actually, Hubris is BHO's middle name. Who writes two autobiographies by his 40's about mediocre achievements greased by affirmative action? Who is not embarrassed to be campaigning for the presidency when he has not run so much as a corner store and his Senate career consisted of voting straight down the far left or "Present"?

He's way beyond his pay grade now. Without the media carrying water for him, he'd be flat on his face already.

Remember, this is the guy who didn't know how many states there are even though he supposedly grew up in the 50th state! (He answered a question by saying he'd campaigned in 47 states, but not Alaska or Hawaii). His handlers claimed he was "tired". Hope he doesn't have to deal with a terrorist attack when he's "tired"! That hypothetical 3 a.m. call takes on new significance.

Incidentally, odds are that the Bush, McCain and Palin know how many states there are even if they're a trifle fatigued.

Additionally, the guy deserted by both his father and stepfather has a Daddy complex for the Kenyan alcoholic deadbeat and a problem giving credit to the white family members who actually stuck around to raise him.

This privileged mixed race man who rode his blackness to the presidency and knows he would never have gotten there otherwise with his inadequate resumé belongs on the psychiatrist's couch, not the Oval Office.

Hmm, did you read the article? Every quote was totally accurate. Maybe you can't read . . . wait, you're a liberal, you can't read, because you're blind to everything around you. Forget about him, Ben, it was a brilliant article, the best I've read.

OBAMA CHANGE AND RESPONSIBILITY
Given that Obama has promised "CHANGE" in his campaign, it is a matter of national of necessity that he sets a new standard of "RESPONSIBILITY" for the Democrats. They must fulfill what they first began in supporting Bush regarding the confrontation with Iran and Syria, in defending Israel's right to exist, and in assuring the emergence of a democracy in Iraq. Provided Obama leads the Democrats on this CHANGE OF RESPONSIBILITY, his domestic policies will follow and be successful. But without that CHANGE, the USA is doomed to a fragmented stature on the world stage and Obama will fail as President.

Insightful Examination
The best commentary I have read about Obama. Until I read it I could not put my finger on why Obama's speech was so uninspiring that even his liberal supporters found little to applaud. Now Mr. Shapiro has given the answer: Even liberals are not turned on by an obsessive celebration of self.

historic????????
What's historic about a half black illegally elected by the dumbest electorate that ever voted 1, 2. 3, times or more. osama will do the same thing during his reign that any other idiot that with his qualifications would do had they been elected. He will throw worthless dollars at every problem and when this all fails as it will, he will then blame bush or any of the 5 or 10 republicans that will be left in congress. The same type of people that caused the financial crisis is now in charge of trying to solve it.

BEN, TRY to become a journalist !
WHAT SPEW you speak.

SO MANY BOGUS FRAMED QUOTES and out and out FALSEHOODS. A fifth-grader would have done better.

With "COLUMNISTS" like Ben speaking for the CONSERVATIVES, America is SAFE from EVER WORRYING ABOUT YOU AGAIN.

~RIP~

Hannah
Obama is in fact a TRULY black version of America's "first black president", Bill Clinton - who likewise had faith in just one person, and that was himself.

Great article!
I have to agree. The only person President Obama seems to believe in is himself.
