United Auto Workers reaches deal with Daimler Truck, averting potential strike in North Carolina

The United Auto Workers union has announced it’s reached a last-minute tentative agreement with truck and bus manufacturer Daimler Truck, averting a potential strike of more than 7,000 workers.

TAG: Correspondent Jeremy House reporting. UAW President Shawn Fain says the new contract includes wage increases of more than 25% over the next four years and cost-of-living adjustments, among other things. Union members still need to approve the agreement.

It covers workers at various plants in North Carolina — where Daimler makes Thomas Built Buses, Freightliner and Western Star trucks. Supreme Court to hear Trump’s immunity case

The Supreme Court will hear arguments in former President Trump’s immunity case. Justices will be determining whether Donald Trump is immune from prosecution in a federal case charging him with 2020 election interference. His lawyers say former presidents are entitled to absolute immunity — an argument that was flatly rejected by the judge overseeing the federal case. If the high court rules against Trump and in favor of the government, the case would be returned to federal court and the setting of a trial date.

Trump, Johnson To Hold Joint Press Conference At Mar A Lago

The two have long had amicable relations..Johnson supportive of Trump’s effort to challenge certification of the 2020 election, and has endoresd his bid for reelection. The joint apperance also comes at a time when Johnson can benefit from a strong show of support from the former Commander in Chief. He’s facing the threat of being ousted as Speaker , an effort being lead by fellow Trump supporter , Georgia Repreentative Marjorie Taylor Green.

Evangelicals want action on immigration

VERBATIM: According to a new survey by LifeWay Research, the surge in illegal border crossings during the Biden administration is worrying Evangelical Christians. 80% want Congress to take action to stop the flow. Lifeway spokesman Scott McConnell says “The urgency continues to grow for Congress to act this year to improve laws around immigration.” The poll also finds that Evangelicals are concerned for the welfare of illegal aliens and want to share the gospel with them.
